BIZARRE, BAD BUT ENTERTAINING SEX-REPORT

Another one of those German sex-reports of the 60's and 70's, but one that (only!) seems to be a (leftist) counterpart to the regular ones: it is as badly made as all the others. The sexual kaleidoscope is interesting for anyone interested in (the history of) eroticism and sexuality. The subjects include a.o.: "body artist" Otto Mühl; the Danish experts on erotic art husband and wife Kronhausen; a strip act in which the girl whips herself; a homosexual ex-priest; two women who discover that they are lesbian; a hilarious item concerning a political party called The Sexual Democrats of which everyone does his/her office duties completely in the nude except for the founder who sticks to his 3-piece suit at all costs (is this staged or not?); etc. etc.

It is all very bizarre, not very erotic, humourless, but still entertaining. For no apparent reason all the documentary subjects are separated from each other with scenes of a young couple that keeps running through the streets, throwing snowballs at each other etc. (how happy they are!); in the end they perform some soft sex, which quite amazed me as they must have been out of breath for hours by now of all that running.

More noteworthy this film is for some of the names involved: Joe Hembus, in the 70's contributor to the New German Cinema and now a prolific writer on German cinema; Dieter Geissler, later and still a producer, he was one of the producers of Visconti's Ludwig; Jutta Brandstaedter, a much asked for editor; Peter Hajek.
