Is Netflix’s crime procedural ‘Unbelievable’ the ‘Cagney and Lacey’ for the #MeToo era?
Watching Merritt Wever and Toni Collette on Netflix’s limited series “Unbelievable,” it got me thinking about another series that featured two dedicated women cops, “Cagney and Lacey.” Back in the early ’80s, TV producer Barney Rosenzweig was influenced by his feminist girlfriend and future wife Barbara Corday to make the first female-driven buddy film with a script by Corday and Barbara Avedon. It wasn’t picked up by movie studios so they took it to TV networks. Only CBS jumped on it.

In the original TV movie that aired in 1981, Loretta Swit played New York City police detective Christine Cagney but couldn’t do the series because of her commitment to “M*A*S*H.” The role was then taken over by Meg Foster on the show’s first season in 1982. But there was concern that she was too tough in the role — causing some viewers to view the

Deathstroke Animated Series Trailer Debuts, Michael Chiklis To Star

With Manu Bennett’s Slade Wilson unlikely to return for Arrow‘s eighth and final season and the character now being played by Esai Morales over on DC Universe’s Titans, The CW somehow managed to have him remain in the Arrowverse in some fashion. Ingeniously enough, the Deathstroke animated series we’ve been hearing about for some time will serve that purpose.

In the tradition of Vixen, Freedom Fighters: The Ray and Constantine: City of Demons, Deathstroke: Knights and Dragons will be the next animated web series to air on The CW Seed online streaming site. No concrete premiere date has been given at the time of this writing, but the first of twelve episodes will air beginning sometime in the first quarter of 2020.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Ten years ago, Slade Wilson—aka the super-assassin called Deathstroke—made a tragic mistake and his wife and son paid a terrible price.

Eliza Dushku has broken her silence about her run on CBS’ Bull, a job she says featured “one of the most cruel, most aggressive humiliations I have ever experienced” and from which she was fired after speaking up about lewd comments made by her co-star, Michael Weatherly.

In an op-ed published in Wednesday’s Boston Globe, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum outlines in great detail the atmosphere on the CBS procedural that led to her lodging a formal complaint — and then being fired not long afterward. Dushku, who says she was brought onto the show to become a series regular,

Law & Order: Svu Season 20 Episode 7 Review: Caretaker

Sasha Alexander visited Law & Order: Svu, and boy was it intense!

The promos promised a one-of-a-kind, can't-miss story, and "Caretaker" delivered.

Law & Order: Svu Season 20 Episode 7 was equal parts gruesome and disturbing, all while featuring a riveting story and bringing up more questions than answers.

Kudos to Sasha Alexander. I loved her as quirky Maura Isles on Rizzoli & Isles, and I completely forgot she was ever Maura within seconds of meeting Anna Mills.

Anna was an intense, complicated character who not only murdered her entire family but also sold Benson on believing she was a grieving mother until the moment it became clear she wasn't.

No wonder Benson didn't want to buy her insanity defense!

‘Bernard and Huey’ Film Review: Jules Feiffer’s Cartoon Characters Don’t Translate to Three Dimensions
“I can’t decide which one of you is more narcissistic” is a line from Dan Mirvish’s adaptation of Jules Feiffer’s comic strip “Bernard and Huey,” and it’s one of two pieces bits of dialogue — amidst a roaring avalanche of verbiage, mind you — that neatly encapsulates the experience of watching this movie.

The other line is “Do you really believe this s–t, or are you just talking?”

“Bernard and Huey” is the story of Bernard, a 49-year-old editor of historical non-fiction, with an active sex life and not much else. He’s been living in his apartment for a whole five years, and he hasn’t even bothered to get a table yet. One night there’s a knock on Bernard’s door, and he’s surprised to discover his estranged college friend Huey on the other side, waving around fistfuls of cash and looking for a place to stay.

Official Trailer for Indie Comedy 'Bernard and Huey' About Two Friends

"A smart film about dumb men." Freestyle Digital Media has debuted an official trailer for an indie comedy titled Bernard and Huey, from director Dan Mirvish (co-founder of the Slamdance Film Festival), which premiered at a few small film festivals last year. The film stars David Koechner and Jim Rash as old friends who reunite, and end up in some fights and arguments, working out drama in their lives. "Bernard and Huey is a timely story of two men behaving badly, and the smart women who rein them in." Sounds like just what we need right now, huh? The film's full cast includes Mae Whitman, Sasha Alexander, Nancy Travis, Bellamy Young, Richard Kind, Eka Darville, Jay Renshaw, and Jake O'Connor. This looks somewhat amusing, but I'm not particularly intrigued by any of the footage included in here. Give it a look. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Dan Mirvish's Bernard and Huey,
