‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ Review: NBC’s Sing-Along Series Can’t Find the Beat

‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ Review: NBC’s Sing-Along Series Can’t Find the Beat
To kick off the second episode of “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” the eponymous lead played by Jane Levy wakes up in bed with a song in her head. This constant condition, in case anyone has forgotten the events of the pilot (which first aired more than a month ago), serves as the foundation of the series: After an earthquake strikes during a routine Mri, Zoey can hear anyone’s innermost feelings, but these deeply felt emotions are only expressed through elaborate song-and-dance numbers.

So why not start with one? Set to Kiki Dee’s infectious “I’ve Got the Music in Me” and performed with comparable energy by Levy herself, the number builds and builds as she brings in character after character to join her ever-expanding dance troupe. Skylar Astin, Peter Gallagher, and Mary Steenburgen all happily jump and clap along, as Zoey leads a well-choreographed romp from her bedroom to

How Elton John Captured the Uptempo Spirit of ‘Rocketman’ with Oscar Favorite ‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again’

How Elton John Captured the Uptempo Spirit of ‘Rocketman’ with Oscar Favorite ‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again’
Elton John’s “Rocketman” closer, “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again,” is a joyous, infectious, summary song about love and redemption, which perfectly captures the merging of his amazing “Captain Fantastic” life with the surreal portrayal by Taron Egerton in the musical fantasy biopic. It’s also the Oscar favorite for Best Original Song (John won his first Oscar for writing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” for “The Lion King” along with lyricist Tim Rice).

“We wanted an uptempo song to capture the spirit at the end of the film,” said John by email. “It had to sit perfectly alongside ‘I’m Still Standing’ [the anthem-like hit from ’83] and lyrically refer to my recovery from drugs and alcohol, and the personal redemption that has come with it. I always wanted it to be a duet with Taron. That way the song builds a bridge between Taron playing me and the real me.”

As always,

‘Nxt UK’ Review (Jan 2nd 2020)

  • Nerdly
Welcome to this week’s Nxt UK review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and this is the first Nxt UK review of the year, so let’s blow it like Disney with Star Wars.

Match #1: Dave Mastiff def. Kona Reeves The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Prior to the first Nxt UK matchup of 2020, Nxt’s Kona Reeves took to the mic to blame everything in sight for his loss to Trent Seven several weeks ago. But when Kona turned his words to Dave Mastiff, “The Bomber” made him pay with a hard blow that sent his outspoken opponent to the canvas. Although the nefarious Reeves fought back with an earth-shattering assault, the dominant competitor sent his prey Into the Void for a big three-count.

My Opinion: 2.6 out of 5 – This was…enough. Mastiff looked like he was trying to eat Kona the whole time. El Pescado.

‘Rocketman’ Soundtrack Will Include a Newly Written Elton John/Taron Egerton Duet

‘Rocketman’ Soundtrack Will Include a Newly Written Elton John/Taron Egerton Duet
Newly revealed “Rocketman” soundtrack details include a previously unannounced duet between the movie Elton John and the Og Elton John. John and his big-screen portrayer, Taron Egerton, team up on “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again,” which will likely play over the end credits, if its positioning as the final cut on a 22-song tracklist is any indication.

While the rest of the soundtrack was solely produced by Giles Martin, “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” was coproduced by Martin with Greg Kurstin. Interscope, which is releasing the soundtrack, confirms that “Love Me Again” was freshly written for the movie. That makes it eligible for a best song Oscar, which would put it in a category that the otherwise nomination-hoarding “Bohemian Rhapsody” wasn’t able to compete in this past year, with its obviously all-catalog soundtrack.

Although the Queen biopic comes up for frequent pre-release comparisons, differences from “Bohemian Rhapsody” at the soundtrack level abound,

The Voice Night 4 Recap: Who Went From Blind Auditions to Additions?
Going into Night 4 of The Voice’s Season 14 Blind Auditions, I was thinking that Alicia Keys wasn’t kidding, like, at all when she told Kelsea Johnson that she was an unstoppable beast who had every intention of winning the show again, as she had with Chris Blue in Season 12. Ahead of Tuesday’s episode, her team was made up damn near entirely of singers that I either liked a bunch (Kelsea and Britton Buchanan) or flat-out loved (Johnny Bliss, Christiana Danielle and my current favorite, Jaclyn Lovey). Did the coach recruit any more real contenders on Tuesday? Read on and find out…

Shaquille O'Neal and Jimmy Fallon went head-to-head in a lip-sync battle on Monday night's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Fallon kicked things off with House of Pain's "Jump Around," but O'Neal proved to be stiff competition when he topped the host's performance with his own rendition of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative."

"I'm bringing 1988 back," the NBA star joked as he ditched the standing mic for a mic headset and invited audience members up to the stage to dance with him. Musical guest Pitbull made a surprise appearance during O'Neal's set.

The two competitors made nice toward the end of the battle, as O'Neal forced Fallon to join him for a duet of Elton John and Kiki Dee's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart." O'Neal, mouthing Dee's lines, got affectionate with the host,
