Samuel Goldwyn to Distribute Australia’s ‘Top End Wedding’ in U.S.
Australian comedy “Top End Wedding” has been acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films for the U.S. market. The deal was announced by producer Goalpost Pictures Australia.

The film had its premiere at the Sundance festival in the U.S. in January this year. Samuel Goldwyn says that it will release the film on multiple digital platforms from early 2020.

“’Top End Wedding’ is a delightfully fun romantic comedy that also showcases the breathtaking beauty of Australia. We can’t wait to share this special film to Us audiences,” said Meg Longo of Samuel Goldwyn in a prepared statement.

In the past year, Samuel Goldwyn has also picked up international titles including “Stray Dolls” and “Mr. Jones,” which debuted in competition in Berlin.

Directed by Wayne Blair, “Wedding” is the story of a successful Sydney lawyer and her fiancé who have just 10 days to find her mother, who has gone Awol somewhere in the Northern Territory.

Exclusive: Criminal Minds star Matthew Gray Gubler and Westworld’s Angela Sarafyan are set to topline King Knight, a pagan comedy written and directed by Richard Bates Jr. It’s about a High Priest of a modern-day coven who confronts his past as an all-American prepster.

AnnaLynne McCord, Nelson Franklin, Emily Chang, Johnny Pemberton, Josh Fadem, Kate Comer, Andy Milonakis, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Shane Brady, Barbara Crampton and Ray Wise make up the supporting cast. Robert Higginbotham is the producer.

The project marks the fifth feature for Bates, who most recently directed the horror-comedy Tone Deaf, starring Amanda Crew and Robert Patrick. His films Excision and Trash Fire debuted in the Sundance Midnight Program.

Gubler, who has played Dr. Spencer Reid since the first season of Criminal Minds, co-stars in Endings, Beginnings, the Drake Doremus-helmed romantic drama that premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and was picked up by Samuel Goldwyn Films.

The film had its world premiere at the 2018 Hamptons International Film Festival and captures the life and career of Holocaust survivor and New York City resident Henri Dauman, a legend among 20th century American photojournalists for his iconic images.

Shailene Woodley’s ‘Endings, Beginnings’ Lands at Samuel Goldwyn
The North American rights to Drake Doremus’ “Endings, Beginnings,” starring Shailene Woodley, Jamie Dornan and Sebastian Stan, have been picked up by Samuel Goldwyn Films, an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.

The film made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Endings, Beginnings” follows Daphne (Woodley), a 30-something-year-old woman in Los Angeles, who navigates life over the course of one year. She meets Jack (Dornan) and Frank (Stan) at a party.

Francis Chung, Robert George and Doremus, produced, while the film was co-produced by Fred Lee. Doremus and Jardine Libaire wrote the screenplay for the film.

Exclusive: Deadline has learned that the North American rights for Drake DoremusCj Entertainment movie Endings, Beginnings was acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films.

The pic, starring two-time Golden Globe nominee and Divergent franchisestar Shailene Woodley, 50 Shades of Grey‘s Jamie Dornan, Avengers star Sebastian Stan, Matthew Gray Gubler (500 Days of Summer) Lindsay Sloane (Horrible Bosses) and Kyra Sedgwick (TV’s The Closer), made its world premiere at Tiff back in September.

Woodley plays Daphne, a thirty-something woman in present-day Los Angeles, who navigates love and heartbreak over the course of one year. Daphne becomes intertwined with friends Jack (Dornan) and Frank (Stan) after meeting them at a party. During that time, she will unlock the secrets to her life in a sudden turn of events and in the most surprising of places.

Endings, Beginnings was produced by Cj Entertainment’s Francis Chung, Robert George and Doremus, and co-produced by Fred Lee.

A Murderous Group of Students in Trailer for 'Extracurricular' Thriller

Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie horror film titled Extracurricular, the latest feature from filmmaker Ray Xue (Transcendent). This horror-thriller originally premiered at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival last year, only now getting a direct-to-vod release in January for those still interested. Four overachieving high school students and best friends have a secret pastime: planning and executing murders (while wearing different masks). But when one of their plans goes shockingly awry, the relationship between them is put to the test. A Young Man Unleashes His Twisted Imaginary Friend in The Trailer For Daniel Isn't Real

I’ve got got a trailer here for an upcoming psychological horror thriller coming out called Daniel Isn't Real. The film follows a young college freshman named Luke who ends up resurrecting his childhood imaginary friend Daniel to help him cope with some serious issues that he’s been having. Turns out, his imaginary friend is a pretty twisted and demented dude and ends up causing more harm than good.

The film comes from writer and director Adam Egypt Mortimer (Some Kind of Hate), and it’s an adaption of Brian DeLeeuw's novel of the same name. It stars Miles Robbins as Luke and Patrick Schwarzenegger as Daniel. This looks like it’s going to be a wild and trippy thriller! One quote in the trailer describes it as being "mind-bendingly freaky".

Sony Nabs International Rights to Cannes Title ‘Bull’ From Film Constellation (Exclusive)

Sony has acquired international rights to Annie Silverstein’s featured debut “Bull” which world premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section and went on to win three awards at Deauville.

The deal with Sony was negotiated by London-based Constellation Film which represents the film in international markets. Samuel Goldwyn acquired U.S. rights to the movie from 30West.

A portrait of a rebellious teenage girl from South Texas, “Bull” marks Silverstein’s follow up to her short “Skunk” which won Cannes’s Cinéfondation prize in 2014. The movie follows the relationship between a troubled adolescent from West of Houston whose mother is in jail and an ageing African American bullfighter.

One-night Release

Fathom Events and Meteor 17 have set a one-night global theatrical release of “Lionel Richie at Glastonbury” for Nov. 19.

The screening, a filmed version of the singer’s 2015 performance, will also feature an exclusive introduction and commentary from Richie about his career from his beginnings in Tuskegee, Ala.

“I’m so excited for the opportunity to share the 2015 Glastonbury Festival performance with fans across the globe,” Richie said. “I’m honored to have played on such an iconic stage, and the fans’ energy that day truly made this show a memorable moment in my career.”

Richie’s set included hits like “Dancing on the Ceiling,” All Night Long,” “We Are The World,” “Easy,” and “Three Times A Lady.
