She was a veteran nightly news anchor at a Los Angeles affiliate when ABC tapped her in 1997 to replace Joan Lunden on Good Morning America (1975). Sadly, her tenure lasted only until 1999, when she was replaced by Diane Sawyer in an effort to boost ratings.
