Taylor Swift is setting the record straight on all of the rumors surrounding her music battle. As fans of the superstar singer will know, T.Swift has been at odds with Big Machine Records' Scott Borchetta and music executive Scooter Braun over the rights to her first six album masters. Earlier this year, the "Lover" singer took to Tumblr to react to the news that Braun had acquired Big Machine Records, the label under which Swift released her first six award-winning albums. In her message, Swift—who is now signed with Republic Records and Universal Music Group—said she felt "sad and grossed out" by the move, which was coordinated with Borchetta. "For years I asked, pleaded for a...

Carey Mulligan is out for revenge, but not just the regular kind, the delicious kind. After a brief on-screen break, the actress is returning with “Promising Young Woman,” an intriguing-sounding new thriller that will give her not only plenty of emotion to mine, but great guns to go with it. Written and directed by “Killing Eve” showrunner Emerald Fennell in her feature directorial debut, the film is billed as “a delicious new take on revenge.” The film will premiere at Sundance in the festival’s high-powered Premieres section in January, with an April 17, 2020 theatrical release date already set.

Per its official synopsis: “Everyone said Cassie (Carey Mulligan) was a promising young woman… until a mysterious event abruptly derailed her future. From the break ups we didn't see coming to the records that were broken, the music we kept on repeat to the memes we had to retweet, 2019 was anything but dull. Whether we were scratching our heads over that first Cats trailer or squealing at the sight of Baby Yoda, learning Aunt Becky was wanted by the Feds or loving that Taylor Swift and...

Can ‘Cats’ Find New Life at the Box Office?

Can ‘Cats’ Find New Life at the Box Office?
Cats,” the big-screen adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s smash musical, has been the subject of much internet scrutiny since Universal first debuted footage over summer. Will curiosity for the art form now known in popular culture as “digital fur technology” translate into commercial success?

As anticipation for the cinematic spectacle heightens ahead of its Dec. 20 release, “Cats” is still on pace to make $15 million to $17 million in its inaugural outing. Universal positioned the film as counter-programming against “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” and Disney’s final chapter in the Skywalker saga is projected to land one of the biggest opening weekends of the year.

Musicals are a polarizing genre, making it tricky when it comes to predicting box office fortunes. But “Cats,” in a way, is its own kind of four-quadrant movie: those genuinely excited (including fans of the property), those cautiously curious, those interested in a hate-watching

She'd be a fun mom. :)."  While the songstress is about to celebrate the milestone birthday on Friday, Teigen, who has previously...

Camila Cabello Takes Her Love to a Higher Place on ‘Romance’

Camila Cabello Takes Her Love to a Higher Place on ‘Romance’
On her 2018 self-titled debut, Camila Cabello was a sultry pop singer who didn’t mind looking inward in her music, exploring an emo intimacy with a classic-feeling soulfulness. On Romance, she’s just as much of an open book. This past year the singer ended one relationship and then found herself in a new one, coupled-up with Canadian crooner Shawn Mendes, and she uses that narrative as a backdrop to sharpen her writing and deepen her sound.

Cabello explores romance in all its forms: love, lust, and, in her most adventurous moments,

Billboard lists the biggest hits of the decade, but spoiler alert – ‘Old Town Road’ Didn’T top the 2010s

Billboard lists the biggest hits of the decade, but spoiler alert – ‘Old Town Road’ Didn’T top the 2010s
“Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus made history on the Billboard charts in 2019 by spending an unprecedented 19 weeks at number-one, but it’s not the biggest hit of the decade according to Billboard, which just listed its top 100 songs of the 2010s. That would be “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. Watch their whole countdown above.

The record-breaking “‘Old Town Road” certainly did alright for itself, finishing seventh in Billboard’s rankings, while the second longest-running chart-topper of all time — 16-week number-one hit “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber — placed ninth. But Billboard didn’t calculate its chart based solely on the number of weeks in the top spot. They used an inverse point system that gave weeks at number-one the most points and gave fewer points to weeks spent in lower positions.

Golden Globes: Six Things to Know About the Film Nominations

Golden Globes: Six Things to Know About the Film Nominations
Most of Monday morning’s Globe nominations didn’t come as a big surprise. “Marriage Story,” “The Irishman,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Parasite” have been ruling awards season – their many nominations were expected. But Globe wins don’t necessarily translate to Oscar gold — about half of best pic wins have been in sync with the Academy Awards since the Globes began 77 years ago.

Here are six things to note about this year’s Golden Globe film nominations:

1. Netflix dominates with 17 nominations (and that’s just in film). “Marriage Story” and “The Irishman” have been ruling awards season, but could all this love for the streamer backfire? Will anti-streamer Academy members shun Netflix in favor of traditional studio fare at the Oscars? Despite vastly different voter bases, the Globes may serve as a good way to read the temperature on how industry insiders are viewing Netflix this awards season.

Taylor Swift Plans to Re-Record Her Hits. Here’s What She Might Be Facing
This time next year, Taylor Swift might sound a little different.

If you’ve been keeping up with the back-and-forth between Swift and the now-owners of her first six albums (who we’ll return to), you’ll know two things for sure: She’s not happy that she doesn’t own the recorded rights (masters) to these records; and come November 2020, she is contractually permitted to re-record her biggest hits — something she appears determined to do.

For clarity, it’s worth a quick recap on this situation, focusing on industry
