Kinematograph Weekly in June 1952 reported that Herbert Wilcox launched the film at the actual Derby, with Anna Neagle touring the Epsom Enclosure in a carriage with "four young ladies in jockey costumes".

David Scott (Michael Wilding) claims never to have seen Gerald Berkeley's films 'Nightingales in Knightsbridge' or 'A Kiss in Kensington'. They sound very similar to the Wilding/ Neagle romances of the late 1940s such as 'Spring in Park Lane', 'Maytime in Mayfair' etc.

During filming Michael Wilding met Elizabeth Taylor who was shooting 'Ivanhoe' at MGM British Studios, Borehamwood. They would marry on February 21 1952, with Anna Neagle and Herbert Wilcox as witnesses.
