DWTS: Sean Spicer Says Judges 'Made the Right Decision' to Eliminate Him
Not even Sean Spicer can argue with Sean Spicer’s elimination from Dancing With the Stars.

The ex-White House press secretary was booted from DWTS on Monday’s broadcast, falling just short of the Season 28 semifinals. But in a brief post-show interview aired on Tuesday’s Good Morning America, Spicer acknowledged that the judges were right to save country singer Lauren Alaina over him.

Lizzo surprised a classroom of Pittsburg, Calif. elementary school students on “Good Morning America” after their G-rated remix of “Truth Hurts” went viral earlier this week.

Said Lizzo in a video message to the students: “I saw the wonderful video that y’all made. Your teacher is very cool. I want to thank you so much for supporting me, and I want to let you know that you are 100 percent the future. You’re so bright and so beautiful and so talented, so keep it up and I hope to see y’all one day. I want to drop in on y’all class, so hopefully we can make that happen, but in the meantime, stay bright.”

After the message, Dorothy Mallari, teacher at Los Medanos elementary, led her classroom in an earnest rendition of their remix. Highlights of which include lines like: “I just took an Ela test, turns

Viewers Return to Third Hour of ‘Today’ After Era of Tumult

  • Variety
Some of TV’s most popular programs are rooted in a blockbuster creative concept. Others are designed to cater to a unique insight about audience behavior. The current third hour of NBC’s venerable “Today” was spurred by a different factor: sheer necessity.

NBC News didn’t have the luxury of focus groups or a test show when it debuted a retooled 9 a.m. edition of “Today” in October of last year. Megyn Kelly’s much-scrutinized morning hour had been cancelled, and the only thing that stood between the network and dead air (and a slew of advertiser make-goods) was the current “Today” staff.

“It was done very quickly, and without much notice,” says Jackie Levin, the executive producer of the third hour, who remained at its helm after overseeing “Megyn Kelly Today.” The task, she tells Variety, was daunting. The time slot had lost a substantial number of viewers,

‘The Morning Show’: Mimi Leder on a Demanding Season 1 Shoot — and Why She’s Going Back For More
When most people are recuperating from a long, hard, challenging endeavor, they sleep in; they get a massage; they take it easy. Well, Mimi Leder said she’s “still recovering” from the first season of “The Morning Show,” and yet she’s already planning specific shots for Season 2.

“I had a great shot that I did not do [in Season 1] — and I’m gonna do it next season,” Leder said in an interview with IndieWire. “I was in the bullpen, bringing Hanna [Gugu Mbatha-Raw] in from the control room. I was on a long arm, a techno, and I pulled her back–”

Leder stopped herself. She was about to go into too much detail about a scene she hasn’t yet captured, and secrecy remains paramount for her Apple TV+ drama. “The Morning Show” has been an all-consuming undertaking for the director since production finally started a year ago, and one of

Ian McKellen Grills Jennifer Aniston on ‘Friends’ Trivia, but It’s Julie Andrews Who Knows the Show Best

Ian McKellen Grills Jennifer Aniston on ‘Friends’ Trivia, but It’s Julie Andrews Who Knows the Show Best
British talk show host Graham Norton, ever the master of assembling celebrities who wouldn’t otherwise be in the same room and then plying them with wine, most recently assigned Ian McKellen to the task of quizzing Jennifer Aniston on just how well she knows her iconic “Friends” character, Rachel. However, it turns out that Julie Andrews is the savviest of “Friends” experts, and she was joined on “The Graham Norton Show” by Reese Witherspoon to relive Rachel’s best moments. In the clip below, Aniston reminisces about Rachel’s notoriously awful cooking — “if it says boil two cups of salt, you boil two cups of salt!” — and Andrews has a keen memory of Rachel and Ross (David Schwimmer) going on their infamous “break.”

Aniston and Witherspoon currently headline the Apple TV+ flagship series “The Morning Show,” which is being beaten against the rocks by critics. The series is inspired

Daytime Emmys get rid of an Egot shortcut: Best Musical Performance category eliminated

Daytime Emmys get rid of an Egot shortcut: Best Musical Performance category eliminated
It’s the end of a (very short) era. The Daytime Emmys announced on October 31 the elimination of an unusually consequential category: Best Musical Performance in a Daytime Program. That Halloween proclamation was scary news for musical theater actors who in recent years have been able to complete most of their Egot checklists thanks to that category.

Best Musical Performance was only presented four times. The first time it seemed like a way to help Adele to get to Egot. The Grammy and Oscar winner was nominated in 2016 for performing “Million Years Ago” on “Today,” but she surprisingly lost to Rachel Platten for singing her signature hit “Fight Song” on “Good Morning America.”

All three winners that followed, however, were the casts of Broadway shows who managed to secure Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Awards within the span of a few months for their work.

‘The Morning Show’ reviews: What do critics think of Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon in Apple’s flagship show?

  • Gold Derby
After months of anticipation, Apple entered the streaming television landscape with Apple TV+ on November 1. That includes the first three episodes of its highest profile program, “The Morning Show,” a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional morning news show not unlike “Today” or “Good Morning America” rocked by a #MeToo scandal involving one of its anchors. It features heavy-hitters in front of the camera and behind it, but what do critics think?

Reviewers received the first three episodes of the 10-episode first season — the rest of the episodes were made available on the eve of the show’s premiere — and as of this writing that initial sampling has earned a MetaCritic rating of 58 based on 24 reviews counted thus far: 9 positive, 14 mixed, 1 negative. It has a comparable rating of 59% freshness on the pass/faile aggregator Rotten Tomatoes based on 49 reviews counted: 29 classified as positive, 20 as negative. The Rt critics’ consensus reflects the

Halloween 2019: Morning TV Hosts Catch Disco Fever (Photos)

  • The Wrap
Thursday, morning television did its best to embrace spookiness outside the realm of boardrooms or Washington, D.C. by dressing in scary, tacky, silly Halloween costumes.

NBC’s “Today”

At NBC’s “Today,” which is still being haunted by the ghosts of Matt Lauer and Megyn Kelly, Savannah Guthrie and Carson Daly went as Danny and Sandy. Hoda Kotb also channeled John Travolta, but chose Saturday Night Fever over Grease. Classic movies proved popular for the whole show, actually: Jenna Bush Hager and Willie Geist took on Dirty Dancing while Peter Alexander cut Footloose.

ABC’s “Good Morning America

ABC’s “Good Morning America” wasn’t just Footlose: The whole cast had a 1970s-themed dance party, DJ’d by George Stephanopoulos. Robin Roberts was Donna Summer, Michael Strahan joined the Bee Gees,Lara Spencer was Liza Minnelli and Ginger Zee got to be Olivia Newton-John.

Today’s Savannah Guthrie and Gma’s Ginger Zee Both Channel Olivia Newton-John for Halloween

Today’s Savannah Guthrie and Gma’s Ginger Zee Both Channel Olivia Newton-John for Halloween
It’s a Halloween showdown!

Both Today‘s Savannah Guthrie and Good Morning America‘s Ginger Zee channeled Olivia Newton-John for their Halloween costume on Thursday morning.

The Today show celebrated the spooky holiday with dance-themed costumes. Guthrie enlisted her co-host Carson Daly for a Grease-inspired couple’s costume.

Donning a blonde wig and black-leggings, Guthrie epically channeled Newton-John’s iconic Grease character Sandy for the morning show, while Daly dressed as her summer lover, Danny.

And Guthrie even got the nod of approval from Newton-John herself.

“I heard a rumor that you’re going to dress up as me for Halloween,

Halloween Costumes on TV: Ellen Is a Hustler, Marvel-ous Housewife, Conners See Double, Gma's Bee Gees and More

Halloween Costumes on TV: Ellen Is a Hustler, Marvel-ous Housewife, Conners See Double, Gma's Bee Gees and More
This year’s crop of Halloween costumes featured on TV aren’t exactly spooky, but they are rather nostalgic.

Take, for instance, The Conners‘ Mark, who is dressed as David Bowie’s alter ego Ziggy Stardust, or Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts, who is costumed as disco-era diva Donna Summer. Then there are nods to beloved TV shows from the past, with the Johnson family on mixed-ish representing characters from The Facts of Life, Laverne & Shirley and Miami Vice, and Al Roker taking a not-so-“Unusual” approach with his ode to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The Directors Guild of America has reached a tentative new three-year agreement for staffers at ABC, CBS and NBC and sent the pact to members for ratification.

New Morning Dawns for Apple With ‘The Morning Show’ Premiere

  • Variety
The sight of Apple logo on a red carpet that ran the length of Lincoln Center Plaza drove home magnitude of the moment for entertainment industry insiders at Monday night’s glitzy premiere of “The Morning Show.”

The drama series set behind the scene of a network morning news program in turmoil is leading Apple into an entirely new line of software business for the storied company that has largely made its billions on hardware. “The Morning Show” and a handful of other original series are set to launch the Apple TV Plus service on Nov. 1.

Apple brass recognized the milestone with effusive thanks to two dynamic duos who made it all possible: “Morning Show” stars and executive producers Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, and the executive leaders of Apple TV Plus, Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht.

“Jennifer and Reese believed in Apple before we did anything,” Eddy Cue,

Miranda Lambert Shares the Surprising Story of Her and Brendan McLoughlin's Meet-Cute
Miranda Lambert's story of how she met husband Brendan McLoughlin is straight out of a movie. It's the typical rockstar-meets-city-slicker-post-breakup type of plot that has the makings of a blockbuster rom-com. According to a New York Times interview with Miranda, her love story with the NYPD cop began when she was doing press for a Pistol Annies record last year. She shares, "Our record came out the day after Halloween, and we did Good Morning America. My husband was doing security there for the show. Naomie Harris Pitched a James Bond Spinoff Moneypenny Solo Film That Was Rejected By the Producers

Naomie Harris, who played Eve Moneypenny in the last two James Bond films, has been an enhanced version of the character that has been fun to watch. Some fans have even talked about Harris becoming the new Bond, and while those are only rumors, Harris was recently asked about her future in the franchise while promoting her film, Black and Blue. While talking to ComingSoon (via /film) she said:

“Actually, Barry Jenkins, the director of Moonlight, he always said that he wanted to do a Moneypenny spin-off, so maybe…” she teased, adding that Jenkins and longtime franchise producer Barbara Broccoli “had a little discussion, but nothing’s happened so far, but you never know.”

Then while appearing on Good Morning America she went into a little more detail about that meeting and how she pitched the idea to Broccoli and that it was shot down:
