Netflix Added A Ton Of Great Horror Movies Today For 2020

New year, and a host of new Netflix additions to match.

While subscribers are currently mourning the loss of Friends – after going dark today, January 1st, the beloved sitcom won’t be available until HBO Max arrives in May – Netflix has today rolled out a bevy of fresh TV shows and movies to keep us entertained, including some truly unmissable horror properties.

From Event Horizon to Cloverfield, The Amityville Horror to the Tremors franchise, Netflix’s horror category has officially been restocked. There’s plenty to choose from, too, including the 2002 rendition of The Ring, which only makes us long for a competent retelling of the Japanese horror legend to right the wrongs of Rings (2017). At least we have the upcoming Grudge reboot to look forward to on Friday (or January 24th if you happen to be located in the United Kingdom).

Per What’s on Netflix, here’s the comprehensive list of new additions,

How Bradley Cooper, Rami Malek and Mahershala Ali Mastered Music for the Screen

How Bradley Cooper, Rami Malek and Mahershala Ali Mastered Music for the Screen
More than a half-century ago, there was a public outcry when Marni Nixon’s singing voice was dubbed for Audrey Hepburn’s in George Cukor’s 1964 “My Fair Lady” film, in lieu of casting a powerhouse singer-actress such as Julie Andrews, the originator of the role on Broadway. These days, film and music fans have largely come to terms with musical numbers involving an unseen ringer, especially when it comes to hand-synching, still a more easily forgivable practice than vocal miming.

So it’s not surprising to learn that neither “Bohemian Rhapsody” star Rami Malek nor “Green Book” lead Mahershala Ali could play a note before tackling their roles as real-life keyboard prodigies Freddie Mercury and Dr. Don Shirley. Or that those crackling guitar riffs churned out by “A Star Is Born” auteur Bradley Cooper as grizzled rocker Jackson Maine came from the fingers and frets of Lukas Nelson, son

Iconic Paramount Ranch Western Town Destroyed In Wildfire
Updated with Evan Rachel Wood reaction: The National Park Service that oversees the famed Paramount Ranch said Friday that the Western Town portion of the facility has burned down. It was immediately in the path of the fast-moving Woolsey Fire, which started yesterday and has increased to 14,000 acres and now threatens the city of Malibu which has been evacuated.

“We are sorry to share the news that the #WoolseyFire has burned Western Town at #ParamountRanch in Agoura,” tweeted the official handle of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation service. “We do not have any details or photos, but it is our understanding that the structures have burned. ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Country Night recap: Which celebs had to giddyup and go in the double elimination? [Updating Live Blog]
Monday night was Country Night on “Dancing with the Stars,” and two more celebrities were deported. Okay, so it wasn’t exactly that kind of Country Night — less “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” and more “Thank God I’m a Country Boy.” It was a country-western-themed event with several special guest performers, team dances and, sadly, a double elimination when the evening was over. So who was ousted? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute updates as they happen.

Four celeb dances were accompanied by live musical performances from up-and-coming country stars. Lauren Alaina sang “Ladies in the ’90s” for Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten. Carly Pearce performed “Every Little Thing” for Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe. Chris Janson serenaded Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess with “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” And the group Lanco graced the stage to perform “Born to Love You” for Milo Manheim and Witney Carson.

Pros

Schneider has been a fixture on the small screen since he was 17 years old when he won the role of Bo Duke on the hit CBS series, “The Dukes of Hazzard” (1979-1985), which made both him and co-star Tom Wopat household names. Then from 2001-2006, Schneider played Jonathan Kent (the adoptive father of Superman) for the first five seasons of the hit WB/CW series “Smallville,” which gives him two generations of fans to draw votes from.

‘Action Point’ Reps Box Office Casualty For Johnny Knoxville With $2M+ Opening: Here’s Why

‘Action Point’ Reps Box Office Casualty For Johnny Knoxville With $2M+ Opening: Here’s Why
In another death knell for raunchy comedies at the box office, Paramount’s Johnny Knoxville stunt comedy Action Point is hitting the skids in the worst way this weekend, opening to $2.2M.

That’s the lowest wide release debut of the star’s career, and a major setback for the prankster whose four Jackass films have made the studio close to a half billion dollars worldwide off combined budgets just north of $50M over a 16-year period. That weekend result is even lower than Paramount’s prestige misfires last year, mother! ($7.5M opening) and Suburbicon ($2.8M), even though those catered to different audiences.

Action Point arrives without the Jackass label because it only stars Knoxville and Chris Pontius and not the whole gang, and that’s one of the reasons why the pic’s fans are staying away, even though Paramount earnestly billed the comedy as “From the Star of Jackass” in trailers.

Seann William Scott Takes Over Opposite Damon Wayans As Fox Renews ‘Lethal Weapon’
Stifler’s about to get a “Lethal Weapon.” Fox has ordered a third season of the hit action drama after a last minute scramble to replace the lead role opposite Damon Wayans.

Seann William Scott (from the “American Pie” franchise) has joined the show in his first network series role as a new character who folds into a partnership with Murtaugh (Wayans).

“Seann is a fantastic addition to this already amazing cast,” said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn. “’Lethal Weapon’ is packed with action, drama and pure fun and we can’t wait to see Damon and Seann together on screen. Matt Miller, his incredible team and everyone at Warner Bros. have been tremendous partners, and we’re thrilled to bring this show back for another season.”

It almost didn’t happen. After clashes on set between star Clayne Crawford and Wayans, Crawford was fired — and the show was in jeopardy.

‘Super Troopers 2’: Can Stoner Sequels Find Success After Legalization?

  • Variety
April 20, recognized among marijuana users as the international holiday of 4/20, falls on a Friday this year, which turns out to be the perfect release date for Fox Searchlight’s “Super Troopers 2,” the long awaited sequel to the 2001 stoner-movie classic “Super Troopers.” It will open wide on 2,400 screens.

“Fox Searchlight chose 4/20 as the release date,” director Jay Chandrasekhar says. “It tested better than any of the movies we’ve ever made before. There’s real enthusiasm at Fox over this film.”

That’s not often the case with so-called stoner movies, which have endured waves of acceptance and industry reticence over the years. But now with marijuana legalization in full swing in nine states, including California, have the studios come around to stoking that market again like Cheech & Chong did during the decriminalization wave of the ’70s with “Up in Smoke” and several sequels into the ’80s?

10 Things You Never Knew about “The Dukes of Hazzard”

The Dukes of Hazzard was one of the absolute most fun shows in all of TV growing up. I can still recall having a small, matchbox version of the General Lee and racing it all around the living room when the show came on. By far it was one of the only live action shows that ever gained my attention as a kid and was one of the few that I really remembered growing up as being anything special. What the movie did to it wasn’t all that great but it could have been worse. Of course then it got

The Last Word on ‘War Dogs’

War Dogs‘ is that rare based on a true story movie that seems to be desperately trying to be like other based on a true story movies, in this case; it’s apparent goal is to be a combination of a comedic version of ‘Lord of War‘ mixed with the energy and style of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street‘ and ‘The Big Short‘, only without the comedic aspects of,-, well, actually all three of those movies are pretty funny when you think about it. And I especially couldn’t help comparing the film to ‘Lord of War‘ and that’s where the film falters. It’s still interesting and well-made enough to be entertaining and good, but I think they were going for comedy, and honestly, above everything else, I didn’t laugh that much.

Although to be honest, Todd Phillips has honestly, never particularly made me laugh, and

TV Land Pulls Dukes of Hazzard Reruns amid Confederate Flag Controversy
Fans of the good ol' boys of The Dukes of Hazzard will have to look elsewhere for their daily fix of the show: People has confirmed that TV Land, which had previously been airing the show twice a day, has dropped the series from its schedule.

Though TV Land has declined to comment on its reasons for the change, many assume the choice stems from a controversy surrounding the Confederate flag, which is prominently painted on the roof of the Duke brothers' famous Dodge Charger, the General Lee.

National retailers including Walmart and Amazon have made similar moves recently, announcing
