Boone can still make it
20 November 2004 | by Valbano1See all my reviews

I remember this TV series and also felt that it was a promising show. I think if it aired today, it would become a success. The problem was, in 1983, Country Music wasn't popular as it is today in 2004. Actually, had this show aired around 1987, when Country Music was brought back onto the map by Randy Travis, without the assistance of a movie, Boone would have been another "Friends". The story line depicted what the reality is when someone wants to embark into the music business as a career. The reality is that Boone's dad wasn't fond of him wanting to sing as he kept telling Boone, "It's OK as a hobby" but he wanted his son to get a real job. How many times do we get that from our family and friends, when we have dreams? Then the reality is when one attempts to get into the business and find that they need to work part-time just to earn enough money during the day to pay the rent and eat, and then work at night to gain attention? What I always wanted to know was what happened to Boone? I recall that his sister narrated the story and there was a hint that Boone eventually made it as a recording artist. Since the show went off the year a year later, we never found out. I think the networks might want to try this show again and treat it like a reality show this time. The concept will work.
