Cute, Funny and Timeless

Arguably not as good as its following TV show but still a fun and wild adventure, Babar: the Movie isn't going to enchant fans of animation who grew up with the likes of Disney or Dreamworks, nor is it particularly deep, but its strong morals of friendship and helping others makes for an all-around good film. Babar is an admirable little elephant and his love for other endearing characters like Celeste, Cornelius, Pompadour and Arthur makes the film much more emotional and unforgettable. The character designs are unique, the backgrounds are beautiful and there are plenty of different songs (bar-none the best of the soundtrack is the "Committee Song" which will be more funny to adults than to children; I never get bored of seeing those two bureaucratic elephants so thrilled about government protocols, such a cute scene!). Zephir and Troubadour add some extra comic relief and are also fun to watch.

To be honest I preferred this one to the film "Babar: King of the Elephants". This film makes Babar more likeable and gives him a bit more personality, and the side characters are better developed, although B.K.O.T.E. is more faithful to the original Babar books.
