Short Doc ‘The Politics of Competitive Board Gaming Amongst Friends’ Finds Rich Intensity in Settlers of Catan
On the face of it, the documentary short The Politics of Competitive Board Gaming Amongst Friends doesn’t sound like such serious business: A group of friends get together to play Settlers of Catan, and occasionally get on each other’s nerves. Really, it’s difficult to think of anything more frivolous. But as anyone who’s ever gotten competitive [...]

Watch: ‘The Politics of Competitive Board Gaming Amongst Friends’ Explores the Seriousness of Settlers of Catan

Why Watch? Jay Cheel (Beauty Day, How to Build a Time Machine) has an incredibly fresh eye for documentaries. Not content to keep things dry, he hunts down compelling subjects and attacks them with nimble creativity, cool camera work and strong storytelling flair. In The Politics of Competitive Board Gaming Amongst Friends (which, yes, sounds like a Community episode title), he almost-satirically points out the ridiculousness of high intensity, low stakes game-playing by taking it seriously. Specifically, he breaks down the dynamic between four friends bellying up to the table to play Settlers of Catan. This is a board game movie we can get behind. What will it cost? Only 10 minutes. Review – Entourage S06E02 "Amongst Friends"

Through most of the first five seasons, Entourage revolved mostly around Vince. We're only two episodes into Entourage's sixth and it's pretty clear this time around, the boys are now on equal ground as far as the attention is concerned.

Attention is all that Vince gets at the premiere of Gatsby, and after a scene that was reminiscent of the Entourage pilot, where Vince gets out of the car and is greeted by the roar of the crowd, but things change this time around. We see each member of the gang get their own individual attention. Drama finally gets his red carpet moment—which is almost dashed by his date who continuously hits on anyone who chats to her, Turtle gets kissed by Jamie—on the red carpet no less, and E's attention is stolen by Sloane.

Meanwhile, Ari finds that although Andrew has been given a second chance, he

Entourage Season 6 Episode 2 Preview: 'Amongst Friends'

Hey Entourage fans, we're about halfway through the painful seven day gap between new episodes. And, like you, I can wait for the sixth season's second episode, "Amongst Friends." Last Sunday's premiere episode was great and the focus now shifts to the red carpet premiere of Vince's new movie, "Gatsby," directed by Martin Scorsese. I'm curious to see if the writers are going to continue to push the theme of maturity and independence or if that was merely a short-lived distraction. The writers seem to be telegraphing this rekindling of Sloan and E, so I'm betting that there will soon be a wrench in that plan. Perhaps an even hotter girl will come along, taking E's focus? Or will it be his devotion to his career like it was last time. Don't expect these two to just easily ride off into the sunset. And something 'interesting' has to happen between
