‘I Lost My Body’ Review: This Poetic Fable About a Severed Hand Is the Best Animated Film of the Year

‘I Lost My Body’ Review: This Poetic Fable About a Severed Hand Is the Best Animated Film of the Year
A grim fairy tale that starts mere seconds after a young man in mid-’90s Paris has been violently separated from one of his hands, Jérémy Clapin’s morbid yet profoundly moving debut feature — — might be described as a story about someone trying to make themselves whole again. But that wouldn’t quite prepare you for the beguiling strangeness of what this Cannes prize-winner has in store. After all, there’s a reason why Clapin’s film is called “I Lost My Body,” and not “I Lost My Hand”: It’s largely told from the hand’s point-of-view.

We first meet Naoufel as he lies on the floor of his workshop. A curious fly buzzes in to investigate, its jeweled red eyes reflecting the blood that continues to spill out of Naoufel’s severed wrist. That’s when Clapin first embarrasses our expectations: Rather than focus on the horror of what’s just happened,

Variety is reporting that Metro 2033, the post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel from Dmitry Glukhovsky, is being adapted into a movie.

"The book by this Russian author has become known throughout the world, and it is embedded in the cultural code of sci-fi fans and gamers all over the planet," says producer Valery Fedorovich of the project. "For us and Gazprom Media Holding, this is a dream project, the most ambitious and large-scale film that we have ever launched. We intend to invest an unprecedented sum … in the production and promotion of this movie both in Russia and abroad.”

Glukhovsky weighed in on the deal by stating that he has received adaptation offers for years now but was previously unsatisfied with the proposed deals. Now, though, he believes he has found the perfect partners for this project.

Filmed at the Middle East in Cambridge, Massachusetts on February 19, 1994, the black and white clip features Buckley walking towards the venue on a snowy sidewalk, guitar case in hand. He performs at soundcheck wearing a coonskin-like cap, later launching into the track before a packed crowd. “Maybe I’m too young

Oscar Isaac teases more scenes between Poe and Finn for Star Wars: Episode IX

Oscar Isaac, one of the stars of the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX, has teased that the film will see plenty of scenes between Poe and Finn.

One of the best character dynamics in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was between Oscar Isaac’s Poe and John Boyega’s Finn, with the two heroes hitting it off pretty instantly. While The Last Jedi saw the two apart for most of the film, with J.J Abrams back for Episode IX, that could be about to change.

According to Oscar Isaac in a recent interview with Metro, Episode IX will see the two characters share plenty of screen time together, a fact that the actor is very happy about: “I think the one thing I can say is that it has been the most fun for me, particularly working with John Boyega because we have just had so much more to

Captain Marvel director teases the film’s “emotional” tribute to Stan Lee

It will be bittersweet for fans this Friday with the release of Captain Marvel, the first chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to release following the death of comic book legend Stan Lee late last year.

As we know, Lee had already shot his cameos for Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame prior to his passing, and during an interview with Metro, Captain Marvel co-director Anna Boden has teased her film’s “emotional” tribute to the great man.

“I don’t want to get fired now, of all times. It would be so weird if I got fired at this point in time,” said Boden. “So I don’t want to say anything I’m not supposed to say, but just that it was… we did want to kind of have a moment and tribute to Stan Lee in this movie, obviously. It was something that came from Marvel and when they showed it to us,

Metro Exodus Review

The shooter with a story. It’s something of a rarity nowadays, isn’t it? The kids prefer persistently online worlds they can explore with their friends — and all the better if there’s a spot of base building involved. In trying to tell a story, and by asking you to play alone, Metro Exodus feels like a real throwback to a glorious era when shooters like Half-Life 2 and Chronicles of Riddick were at the cutting edge.

But Exodus has ambitions of its own. After a limp introduction, one that involves protagonist Arytom being scolded for his obsession with the Moscow surface — Metro’s equivalent of looking for life in the stars — we learn that there is indeed a world worth exploring.

And what’s more, there’s a train ready to take us on the journey.

Thus, Metro Exodus stretches its legs and opens its wings to encompass three

Bumblebee Sequel May Feature An Optimus Prime Team-Up

Bumblebee may not be scaling the same commercial heights as its various predecessors from the Transformers series, but with a lower budget than any of Michael Bay’s overblown blockbusters, it seems that the spinoff has still yielded high enough figures to earn a sequel.

A new piece from Deadline reports that the Travis Knight-helmed film currently has a sequel in development, before speculating that this might mean a Bumblebee and Optimus Prime buddy movie. And while the notion is mentioned only as a passing theory, the post-credits of Bumblebee certainly hint at the possibility.

Incidentally, it was reported by Metro a few weeks ago that while writer Christina Hodson is hoping for a Bumblebee sequel, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is keen to get an Optimus Prime solo movie made. And though we’re still waiting for further news on the latter project, di Bonaventura at least seems optimistic

Daredevil star Charlie Cox wants The Defenders season 2, says first season was too slow

Charlie Cox, the star of Daredevil, has said that The Defenders season one was too slow but that he would like to see another one.

There was plenty of build up and associated hype for The Defenders, the Netflix show which united the disparate Marvel heroes in one miniseries. The show, however, wasn’t received well, putting a future season in doubt.

Daredevil star Charlie Cox admits that the first season had its problems, but tells Metro that he would like to see the show come back: “‘I had a great time filming it,’ Charlie said. “I really loved working with those other Defenders and I really enjoyed the dynamic.

“I think what we discovered with The Defenders is that it was a lot to try and handle within eight episodes. To have these four people meet in an organic way and then set up a story, and then resolve it,

Michael Douglas Wants A Prequel With The Original Ant-Man And Wasp

Similar to how the release of Black Panther prompted cries for a Shuri spinoff, Marvel fans are beginning to wonder if we’ll ever see an McU prequel featuring the original Ant-Man and the Wasp. Which is to say that Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne deserve a spinoff movie of their own.

That very question was posed to Hank Pym himself, Michael Douglas, during a recent interview with Metro (h/t, in which the McU mainstay admitted that he’d love to reunite with Michelle Pfeiffer in the not-so-distant future. Kevin Feige, are you listening?
