When Chucky is explaining to Jesse about how they ended up in doll bodies he says "If it were a movie it would take 3 or 4 sequels just to do it justice". Bride of Chucky (1998) was preceded by Child's Play (1988), Child's Play 2 (1990) and Child's Play 3 (1991), and since this is the fourth Child's Play movie it was followed by three more sequels Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013) and Cult of Chucky (2017).

At around 17 mins. Chucky twisting his head around all the way in front of Damien is an obvious reference to The Exorcist (1973) coincidentally Brad Dourif (Chucky) was in The Exorcist III (1990) as the Gemini killer who also makes a reference to Child's Play (1988) in that movie.

When Tiffany says to Damien about one thing she forgot to mention about Chucky, to which Damien sarcastically says "Don't tell me Smucky is one of those dolls that wets his pants" is similar to Childs Play 2 (1990) when Kyle is interrogated by the police officer regarding Chucky's bleeding nose she states to the officer "you've seen dolls that pee?, this one bleeds".

David says mass murderers kill people all at once like at the post office, a reference to the phrase 'Going Postal', referring to becoming extremely and uncontrollably angry, often to the point of violence, and usually in a workplace environment. The expression derives from a series of incidents from 1986 onward in which United States Postal Service (USPS) workers shot and killed managers, fellow workers, and members of the police or general public in acts of mass murder. Between 1970 and 1997, more than 40 people were killed by current or former employees in at least 20 incidents of workplace rage. Between 1986 and 2011, workplace shootings happened at roughly two per year, with an average of 12 people killed per year, most notably the Edmond post office shooting that occurred in Edmond, Oklahoma, on August 20, 1986. During a deadly rampage that lasted less than fifteen minutes, postal worker Patrick Sherrill pursued and shot twenty co-workers, killing fourteen of them, before committing suicide.

The part where Chucky is playing with a Speak & Spell and types in 'bitch' when it asks him to spell 'woman' is a reference to the scene in Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990) where Leatherface is playing an electronic word game and he keeps typing in 'food' when it's showing a picture of a clown.

During the opening montage we see a number of items associated with other well known slasher icons, but out of all of them it makes sense for Michael Myers' mask to be in an evidence locker. This movie takes place shortly after Child's Play 3 which if you do the math is set in 1998, Michael Myers was (supposedly) decapitated after he was carted off. So it at the very least would explain why police would have had his mask in the first place

Some fans refuse to accept this film or any other Chucky film that came after to be in canon with the previous three, although the backlash for this one isn't considered as bad as its sequel, Seed of Chucky. Curse of Chucky goes back to the more straightforward horror of Child's Play in an attempt to win back the crowd, while retaining certain elements of Curse and Seed.

According to the DVD's director commentary, Chucky was originally supposed to say to Chief Warren (John Ritter), "Sorry, Jack, but three's a crowd," after killing him. This joke refers to the fact that Ritter also starred as "Jack" in the hit TV sitcom Three's Company (1976). But at the last minute, the director deleted that out of the script because he found it too corny.
