Storyline

The plot has Erszebet Simor falling in love with Gabor Rajnay, who has a wife in Paris, but he has told everybody she is dead. Erszebet, via a little scheming and a direct appeal to the not-dead wife, gets Rajnay a divorce so she can marry him. The not-dead wife probably figured that as good riddance. NYC reviewers not impressed...

...saying it was..."a marital mix-up holding little entertainment value" and " a story that is complicated to a degree that stifles the best efforts of a fine cast." But, what did they know? One also wrote that the film introduced (not true) a vivacious brunette (very true), Erszebet Simor (nee Ersi Simor.) He must have missed her films over the previous three years.

First US showing at NYC's 55th St. Modern Playhouse in November of 1939.
