The inside of his body is known as the "City of Frank". An unlikely hero of a policeman white blood cell, by the name of Osmosis Jones, works as a member of Immunity cell. But with that germ-ridden egg comes a mortal danger: Osmosis discovers Frank has really contracted a villainous and black-hearted deadly virus known as Thrax who arrives and is plotting to ultimately overheat Frank's body, killing him from the inside out! Thrax is motivated by trying to become the nastiest new virus, attempting to kill each new victim faster than the previous. Quotes

Leah: Mayor, something freaky is going on with the weather.
Mayor Phlegming: We're probably just drinking some hot coffee.
Leah: Sir, look at the maps. What if Jones is right?
Mayor Phlegming: Jones? Ha ha ha! Funny, funny.
Leah: You care more about your stupid re-election than you care about all our lives. Something is going on, and I'm going to the hypothalamus to check it out.
Mayor Phlegming: Hypowhothewhatisit? Leah, wait! Who's gonna answer the phones?

Alternate Versions

The DVD release contains three extended (and half-animated) scenes, all of which appear in cut-down form in the final edit:
  • Drix and Jones visit the eyes, while Drix complains that he has to visit the nose and the throat. Jones gets donuts and calls the infodesk on his cell phone while at the eyes.
  • Frank picks his nose during the dam-bursting sequence, and Jones saves Drix from ending up on Frank's fingertip. In the end, they're snorted back up into the sinuses.
  • The race to catch Thrax on his way to the uvula is extended; we see Thrax leap from his car and glide away. Then, after Jones takes the wrong turn, he takes a "shortcut" to the uvula by way of the esophogus, riding a massive acidic Frank-belch up the throat.

God help me, I really liked this film.
10 March 2004 | by thumps80631See all my reviews

As an aesthete, this movie goes against everything I stand for, but I found it nonetheless very entertaining. It was like a peculiar yet satisfying mix between the Incredible Journey, Toy Story, and Lethal Weapon or Rush Hour (the whole loose-cannon, loner cop with a new partner bit).

I found the idea rather original: the human body is like a body of government, the cop is a white blood cell, the "president" was the cell whose will was that of the man (Bill Murray), the villain is a virus who hangs out in seedy areas of the body with shady characters, the bladder is a sort of train station/airport... clever stuff.

I did have issues with the "What a zit- I mean, what is it?" part, though: it landed on her lip! Wrong! I could have gone the rest of my life without seeing that. Molly Shannon is quite a sport. 7/10
