Trivia

Andrew Young, who later would become a top aide to Martin Luther King, Jr., was a host on "Look Up and Live" while associate director of the Department of Youth Work for the National Council of Churches from 1957 to 1960. The innovative program aired on Sunday morning but avoided heavy-handed religious proselytizing, instead using contemporary musicians and celebrities to reach young people with inspirational messages. In 1960, "Look Up and Live" received the prestigious Peabody Award. Young has said it was the knowledge he gained during these years at CBS that enabled him to advise Dr. King on media strategy.
