Storyline

The Dominion War is over, and the galaxy is at peace again, for the most part. U.S.S. Dauntless, a Federation Galaxy-class starship, is helping a colony of settlers, when the planet's sun suddenly destabilizes and goes supernova. Dauntless' captain, Robert Wright, is killed, but the ship manages to escape the massive explosion. The player is the ship's First Officer, who now becomes the new Captain and must investigate what exactly caused the sun to explode. It soon becomes clear that this was no natural occurrence, and that an alien device had something to do with it. When a warmongering Cardassian faction attacks the Federation ships, the player must help stop them. Are they behind your Captain's death? Or are the mysterious Cardassian allies, known as the Kessok, behind everything? The player eventually gets to command the U.S.S. Sovereign as well, one of the few massive warships created to fight the Borg, although the Borg do not appear in this game. The game is a first person ...

Trivia

The stardate marking the Vesuvi Event (54303.1) places the storyline approximately two years before the events of Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) (56844.9), although the movie was released nine months after this game. See more »

Goofs

Lt Cmdr Brex (a Bolian. A homage of Star Trek's Spock, or Star Trek: The Next Generation's Worf) is adressed as "Chief Brex", Chief stands for "Chief Petty Officer", a non-comissioned officer (read, a recruited crewman). Despite the crew uses the term Chief (also as reference of his position, Chief Engineer) and his neck's rank insignia (Chief Petty Officer), he's listed in the official manual (supposedly an official Starfleet crew manifest) as Lt. Cmdr. Also, listing him as just 'Brex' is wrong as well, since Bolians name their individuals as humans do, with first name and last name. Brex's full name is Solian Jarso Brex. See more »

Quotes

Ensign Kiska LoMar: Commander, the base is jamming our communications towards the planet
Cmdr. Saffi Larsen: Brex, Miguel, solutions?
Miguel Pedro Diaz: ...well, if you give me a few hours I can conduct a scan of the starbase and the source of the interference...
Lt. Cmdr. Brex: ...or we can just destroy the base.
Lt. Felix Savali: I like that idea.

Great Trek game.
4 January 2004 | by AshkiSee all my reviews

This has easily taken the title as the best Trek game to date. The graphics and the sound are easily the best to date in any of the Trek games that have been made.

The sound effects are excellent from the ships phasers and the characters, which include Jean-Luc Picard and Lt. Commander Data, with their orginial voice actors, Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner.

I do highly recommend this for anybody who is an ST fan.
