Trivia

During Lenny Clarke's set, he told Denis Leary that there was a carton of cigarettes for him backstage from late comedian Bill Hicks, with the attached note, "Wish I had gotten these to you sooner." This joke was cut from the final broadcast. See more »

Quotes

Nick DiPaolo: Kiefer Sutherland's here. I... I, uh... I read an article of- in "Esquire" Kiefer Sutherland did. He said how he had to sleep in a car for two years in L.A. Yeah, it must have been tough tossing and turning in a Mercedes 450 SL when it's parked in front of your fucking father's mansion in Hollywood. That must have been... He said his dad didn't help him with his career. Yeah, and Tori Spelling's an orphan.

sophomoric!
8 December 2005 | by standardmetalSee all my reviews

I came across Denis Leary for the first time only about two weeks ago on his "Christmas" special on the Comedy Channel and thought that anyone who had the cojones to do that was all right with me. The bleeps were annoying but I had no doubt what was being said at any given moment.

I also saw part of this "roast" a few nights ago but saw the DVD at the library yesterday and got it out. It seems as though none of these people can be funny without the F-word or S-word (unbleeped on this DVD), both of which I'm very familiar with. Now I don't object to them but when it's every other word, it stops being funny. Give it a break guys and girls! The DVD had the complete rebuttal by Denis in the special features and it can be seen why they abridged it "to fit the air time". Much of it fell flat and I think that's the real reason.

I think anger and four-letter words are fine but there should be some reason for them. For the most part, this was not the case here.

Judging by the nearly universal vote on my "useless" review, I'd say Denis has many fans. Obviously, I am not one of them!
