Trivia

The distance "as the crow flies" from Fort Hays, Kansas to Fort McPherson, Nebraska is just under 100 miles (131 by automobile in modern times). George Armstrong Custer wrote about traveling between the two forts in his 1874 memoir "My Life on the Plains." Chapter 5 is titled "From Fort Hays to Fort McPherson."

All three guest stars were featured players on recently ended series. Robert Loggia (Lt. Moreno) starred as the cat burglar turned bodyguard T.H.E. Cat (1966), Paul Petersen (Lt. Cox) had only the previous year ended his eight-season run on The Donna Reed Show (1958) and was venturing into adult roles, and Pierre Jalbert (Auguste Grule) had in spring 1967 completed five seasons playing Caje on the World War II drama Combat! (1962).
