Shatner couldn't save this one
11 September 2013 | by stones78See all my reviews

This wasn't a bad episode by any stretch, but you would assume that anything that stars William Shatner(Edwin Danbury)would at least be entertaining, but sadly, that wasn't the case here. He was too underused in my opinion, although that was what the script probably called for, but I was hoping for a better performance, as he was very subdued for the most part; even Anne Archer(Elizabeth Danbury)didn't add very much. The best performance was by a very old geezer(Robert Williams)who played Edwin's grandfather, as Edwin's having psychic visions of his wife and another man getting shot by the old man, who looks a bit like Cliff Clavin from Cheers. The funny part to me was that the unidentified man, which ended up being Dr. Rhodes, was pushing Elizabeth on a swing INSIDE the house during the vision. Along the way, we get to meet a young piano player and her mother/teacher Helene(Bettye Ackerman), but what we also get is a lame motive as to why the young girl is causing Edwin to have these visions. Before Edwin is about to shoot and kill his wife and Dr. Rhodes in real life, the mother unconvincingly gets herself shot and killed after basically saying that she and her daughter are tired of getting Edwin's leftovers, or something of the like. To repeat what I said above, it looks as if Shatner was going through the motions, or it was simply a case of bad writing that wasted a fine talent and I was left unsatisfied when the end came around.
