Storyline

When the train hears gunfire, the men find an Army wagon being attacked by what appear to be Comanche Indians. The Army is escorting the daughter of an Indian Chief back with a peace treaty offer from Washington. The Major sends Flint with the three remaining soldiers to help guide them. Flint is forced to fend off attempts by one of Army men to molest the girl and he recognizes that Lt. Avery leading the group does not have the best of intentions. Despite Flint's best efforts, the group is attacked by Indians who are not Comanche but renegade members of the girl's tribe who do not want her to return or a treaty. Once they reach the Indian camp, Flint learns that Avery's folks were killed by the Chief but his attitude has soften due to the girl's attitude toward him. Written by Anonymous

The Lipon Treaty
26 February 2014 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

Some poor writing that gave us some ill defined characters unfortunately are part of this Wagon Train episode.

When they hear gunfire in the distance Ward Bond sends Robert Horton and some of the Wagon Train men to investigate and they arrive just in time to rescue part of a cavalry detail. The commander has been killed and command now devolves on Lt. Farley Granger. What the patrol is carrying is a treaty for chief Nico Minardos of the Lipon tribe, but he's got people in the tribe like Henry Brandon who don't want the treaty signed and will stop it at all cost.

Not that Granger hasn't got enough problems, internally he's facing dissension from Private Chuck Connors who has eyes on Indian maiden Susan Kohner. She's carrying the treaty to her father, but diplomacy isn't what's on Connors' mind.

Let's just say that it's a good thing that Ward Bond detached Robert Horton to guide Granger or otherwise this curious crew wouldn't have made it. As for Granger he's got enough issues that I haven't time to recite them all.

Not one of the better episodes.
