The Major's lost love
28 October 2013 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

This episode of Wagon Train is the concluding episode of a two part flashback story telling of Ward Bond's one true love. The first part covered his Civil War service and the fact both he and Virginia Grey had timed events all wrong and lost their chance for marriage.

Now on one of his early trips west Bond is reunited with Grey as she joins the Train mid point in the trip. Her journey is to conclude in Arizona where Grey is to join her sister and her husband. But also she's now in bad health suffering from consumption which is what they called tuberculosis back then.

Also on the trip is Douglas Kennedy a quick tempered but at heart cowardly lout who sets his sights on Grey. Bond truly loses it with this loathsome character.

Ward Bond never exactly played romantic characters in his big screen career. So it was left to Wagon Train to bring out the romance in him in this story of his lost love.
