Movie Poster of the Week: The Real and Fake Posters for “Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood”

Above: Prop poster for Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood by Renato Casaro. When the first poster was released in March for Quentin Tarantino’s much-anticipated Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, which opens in theaters today, people were generally not impressed. And rightly so: a poorly composed, awkwardly Photoshopped image of Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio leaning against the edges of the poster frame, with a car and the Hollywood sign in the background, it looked like it had been knocked off in a rush for the Cannes Film Festival and would inevitably be replaced closer to the release date with something much better. And eventually an illustrated retro-style poster was released that was a vast improvement. But the Photoshopped version has endured, with a number of variations released in the interim. And it seems that both styles, or either one or the other, are now in theaters. The illustrated poster,

Kevin Smith Opens Up About Reuniting with Ben Affleck for Upcoming Film After Fallout

Kevin Smith Opens Up About Reuniting with Ben Affleck for Upcoming Film After Fallout
After not speaking for “nearly a decade,” Ben Affleck and filmmaker Kevin Smith have reunited.

Affleck, 46, appears in Smith’s upcoming film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, a sequel to 2001’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but also to every film Smith has made, including Chasing Amy, Mallrats and Dogma.

While at San Diego Comic-Con this week, Smith, 48, shared a happy selfie with Affleck on Instagram and explained in a lengthy caption how the old friends reconciled after years of estrangement.

Smith wrote that Affleck reprises his role as Holden from Chasing Amy in the upcoming film — but the

How Jay & Silent Bob Reboot Successfully Reunited Ben Affleck & Kevin Smith
Kevin Smith surprised fans by releasing the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot trailer a few days early at San Diego Comic-Con. However, there were more shocks to be found when watching the actual trailer, including the return of Ben Affleck as Holden McNeil. When the reboot started production, that scene had not even been written because Smith and Affleck had not spoken to each for close to a decade by that point after having a falling out. Thankfully, they have reunited and Smith recently took time to explain how it happened.

It's unclear why Ben Affleck and Kevin Smith had a falling out to begin with. The director has alluded to it over the years and insinuates he was to blame. It doesn't seem to matter anymore now that the two are back in Jay & Silent Bob Reboot and more importantly, together as friends. Before getting into how they reunited,

Arnold Schwarzenegger Wants An Old Man Conan Movie

Even though Arnold Schwarzenegger is at the ripe ol’ age of 69, he’s still very much a busy actor. Indeed, the Austrian-American superstar has been toiling away at this year’s highly anticipated Terminator: Dark Fate. The sequel finally sees him reuniting with both veteran filmmaker James Cameron, and his former co-star Linda Hamilton. However, that’s not to say that he’s finished with all his other iconic franchises. Case in point: the Conan The Barbarian series.

That’s right, Arnie has allegedly been trying his best to get a sequel to 1982’s Conan The Barbarian and 1984’s Conan The Destroyer off the ground. Back in 2016, The Austrian Oak insisted that a script had already been written. The project was tentatively named The Legend Of Conan or Conan The Conqueror and would see the Hollywood A-lister, “sitting on the throne for years and years – decades, and then all of the sudden,

Competition: Win horror ‘Iguana with the Tongue of Fire’ on Blu-ray!

  • Nerdly
To celebrate the release of The Iguana with the Tongue of Fire – available on Blu-ray April 8th from Arrow Video – we’re giving away a copy.

One of several ‘animal-in-the-title’ cash-ins released in the wake of Dario Argento’s box-office smash The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, The Iguana with the Tongue of Fire is a gloriously excessive giallo that boasts a rogues gallery of perverse characters; violent, fetishized murders, and one of the genre’s most nonsensical, red-herring laden plots (which sees almost every incidental character hinted at potentially being the killer).

Benefitting from a sumptuous score by Stelvio Cipriani and exuberant supporting performances from Valentina Cortese and Dagmar Lassander, The Iguana with the Tongue of Fire is a luridly over-the-top latter-day entry in the filmography of acclaimed director Riccardo Freda. An archetypal giallo from the genre’s heyday, Freda’s film is presented here in a stunning new

7 Great Fantasy Movies You've Forgotten About (and 3 You Forgot Were Bad)

When thinking about the best fantasy films around, people throw out the same few movies. Lord of the Rings. Pan's Labyrinth. Maybe a few old-school fantasy fans might bring up Conan the Barbarian, but that's typically where someone's recollection of fantasy movies end. Which is a shame because there are several overlooked fantasy films that are painfully neglected by society as a whole.

When, for example, was the last time someone talked seriously about Highlander? When have you talked to someone about Ladyhawke? These might be well-known films to fantasy enthusiasts, but the average viewer has never seen them -- and there are other films that are pretty much neglected. Though a few, to be fair, are neglected for good reason. Which forgotten fantasy films deserve a re-evaluation, and which ones should be left buried on the VHS shelf?

Amber Tamblyn Offers to Direct Red Sonja

Amber Tamblyn Offers to Direct Red Sonja
The Red Sonja remake is in need of a new director and we have a seemingly strong candidate for the gig. Amber Tamblyn, best known for her work in front of the camera in movies like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and 127 Hours, has thrown her hat in the ring. She may not have been on anyone's list to direct a potential big blockbuster comic book adaptation, but she is certainly making a strong case for herself.

This comes not long after it was revealed that Bryan Singer (X-Men) has been removed from the project. He was attached to Red Sonja last year in a rather controversial move by Millenium Films, who put him on the project despite his long history of sexual abuse allegations, and despite the fact that he had been fired from Bohemian Rhapsody for his on-set behavior. Finally, they've decided to part ways with Singer,

Exploring the Quagmire Surrounding The Legend Of Conan

Back in 2017, it was announced that a sequel to the original Conan the Barbarian was in the works with Arnold Schwarzenegger set to reprise the role he made iconic. When that was scrapped, we heard rumors of a Conan TV series, but that was canceleded as well. Still, Conan in back in the news […] The post Exploring the Quagmire Surrounding The Legend Of Conan appeared first on Dread Central.

Arnold Schwarzenegger on why a new Conan film hasn't happened

Over the decades, Arnold Schwarzenegger has returned to the role of the Terminator again and again, but there's one role which the actor hasn't played since 1984 - Conan the Barbarian. It's not for lack of trying, as the actor was slated to return for the role in what was being called The Legend Of Conan, but nothing has actually happened with the project. While speaking…

Arnold Schwarzenegger Explains the Frustrations of Why a New Conan Film Hasn't Happened

There’s been an awesome concept for a new Conan movie floating around for awhile. That concept is for a film called Legend of Conan, and it came from screenwriter Chris Morgan.

The film would be a sequel to the classic 1982 film which left off with an older King Conan sitting on his throne, deep in thought, wearing the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon his brow. This film is nowhere near getting made at this point and that’s because of rights issues.

Arnold still wants to reprise his role, and in a recent interview with The Arnold Fans he explains the why the film is being held up and is certainly sounds frustrating:

“When it comes to the movie, the sad stuff about all of this is when there’s an estate like this…The Robert E. Howard estate…when someone buys these rights, those people now own the

Back in December Funcom announced a brand new Conan game from Petroglyph giving the Barbarian a strategy angle instead of the typical hack n' slash many would expect. Considering the incredible Real-Time Strategy games Petroglyph have delivered in the past, I'm definitely eager to see how they apply that to Conan Unconquered. Thanks to a new behind the scenes video with the developers, we're getting our first look at the title's gameplay:

At the very end of last year, Funcom announced that it has teamed up with the veterans at Petroglyph to create the first-ever strategy game set in the savage world of Conan the Barbarian. Conan Unconquered is set to release in Q2 2019 and is being developed by Petroglyph and published by Funcom.

Schwarzenegger Offers Update on Terminator 6 and the Future of King Conan
Now that his stint as the Governor of California is long since in the rear-view mirror, Arnold Schwarzenegger is quickly becoming one of the busiest actors in Hollywood again. And his biggest upcoming project has to be, without a doubt, producer James Cameron (Avatar) and Deadpool director Tim Miller's direct sequel to Cameron's The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The movie doesn't currently have an official title, but Cameron says behind-the-scenes, everyone has been referring to it as Terminator: Dark Fate. And Schwarzenegger recently sat down and chatted a bit about both this new Terminator and what he hopes to happen for a new The Legend of Conan motion picture.

Schwarzenegger on working with Cameron and Miller on Terminator: Dark Fate.

"It was a very interesting film to do with Tim, the dynamic, between him and with Jim Cameron producing. So Jim Cameron is right now directing Avatar
