William Carr, manager of an ostrich industry, receives a big order for feathers and boas from an heiress, who selects colors of the off-shade and pastel tints. The head dyer is ignorant of some of the necessary formulas, but insists that he can act on the order successfully. The tints are not according to order, and the heiress refuses to accept the feathers. Carr sends for the most expert dyer in the world, John Williams, severely reprimanding the head dyer. When John Williams arrives, he brings with him his daughter, Bessie. Judd Brown, the dyer, leads the other dyers in revolt. He is determined to get the formulas from the old man and when he adds an insult to the daughter he is discharged by the manager. Judd Brown then begins an active campaign of enmity and determines that he will get the formulas at any cost.
