Storyline

Rodney McKay thinks he knows who will be the next leader of the Atlantis expedition - himself. He's heard that they will likely appoint someone with a scientific background and who better than himself than himself to fill the job. He is therefore taken aback when Col. Samatha Carter is named to the post. Ronon Dex meanwhile is happy to find three of his old Satedan friends alive and well. They would like nothing better than to have him join their fight against the Wraith, against whom they seem to have had some success. He would like to bring them to Atlantis but Col. Carter refuses, which he takes as a personal affront. Ronon decides he's going to leave Atlantis but when Sheppard's team goes on a joint mission with the Satedans against the Wraith, Ronon realizes something is very wrong. Written by garykmcd

Quotes

Teal'c: On the day I left Chulak, Master Bra'tac said to me, "Draw from your past, but do not let your past draw from you."
Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter: That's good advice. Still, I know I'm gonna miss this place, and all of you.
Teal'c: [smiling] I would have been offended had you felt otherwise.
Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter: Ten years is a long time.
Teal'c: It has been ten years well-spent. We have defeated numerous enemies and overcome many threats.
Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter: [shy smile, eyes tearing up] It was never dull.
Teal'c: We have accomplished much here. But now it is Atlantis that is in need of you.

A return to business as usual for the Atlantis gang
23 October 2007 | by DVD_ConnoisseurSee all my reviews

With Samantha Carter now filling the shoes of Elizabeth Weir, there's a return to business for the Atlantis regulars.

This is a satisfying episode with the return of the always-threatening, life-sucking Wraith posing a problem once more.

"Reunion" is a chance for Jason Momoa to demonstrate his acting talents and he delivers a great performance here. Dex is an interesting character and Momoa really makes the most of the script. The early scene with Carter and Dex is an interesting indication of how the series may progress. New characters interacting means new dynamics and Carter's presence will result in changes to the way people operate.

While not really taking the series anywhere new, "Reunion" is a solid episode.

8 out of 10.
