The Strangers (2008)

References

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
Kinsey escapes the trailer park by jumping into the bed of a pickup truck driven by a passerby and laughs hysterically as she is driven to safety. This is an homage to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), where Sally escapes Leatherface and the Sawyer family by jumping into the bed of a pickup truck driven by a passerby and laughs hysterically as she is driven to safety.
Halloween (1978)
This film is cited as an inspiration for this film.
The Fog (1980)
Musical score is a variation on the score from The Fog.
Christine (1983)
The scene where Kinsey (Bailee Madison) flees from a flame-engulfed truck pursuing her directly mirrors a similar scene from Christine (1983) wherein the titular vehicle chases after Buddy Repperton (William Ostrander).
Scream (1996)
A would-be victim jumps into a police vehicle to escape. Then, the killer taps on the window, revealing that they have the keys.
Funny Games (1997)
Kinsey asking Doll Face why they're attacking the family, she simply responds with "Why Not?", an interaction that is near identical to one featured in this film.
47 Meters Down (2017)
Early in the film, when the family arrive at the campsite Cindy visits the shop but finds a note that tell them to go straight to Cabin 47. The number "47" is a possible Easter Egg referencing another Johannes Roberts film, 47 Meters Down (2017).
