Storyline

At the Draper house, Gene is indulging his grandchildren against Don and Betty's wishes. Gene wants to discuss his death arrangements with Betty, which distresses her. And Gene's presence in general is making Don think about his own parents. But these issues with Gene and the Drapers take a major turn. Meanwhile, Peggy decides to move from Brooklyn to Manhattan, being able to do so only if she finds a roommate. She dreads telling her mother about this decision. Her roommate ad in the paper is the brunt of jokes within the office. Joan is an unexpected source of support for Peggy. With work, Pete brings in a new account, that from his college chum, Horace Cook, Jr. - HoHo to his friends. He wants to promote the sport of jai alai, and is willing to pay a large sum for its promotion. Don knows that Horace Cook, Sr. is a close friend of Bertram's and wants to make sure that Cook Sr. is aware of what his son is doing with the family money. With the Patio Cola account, Sal is a last minute ... Written by Huggo

Trivia

Horace Cook Jr.'s loose-leaf folder contains four Jai Alai-related items, all authentic. These include a January 1st, 1954 program from the Miami Jai Alai Fronton at N.W. 36th St. and 37th Avenue in Miami, originally sold for 15 cents, and a 1942 photo of the Jai Alai Fronton in Manila, Philippines, shot by the famous photographer and photojournalist Carl Mydans for Life Magazine. There are also two photos of Patxi, also known as Francisco Churruca, a Basque Jai Alai player who retired in 1983.

Designed by American architect Welton Becket, the Manila facility opened in 1940 and was demolished in 2000. Miami Jai Alai, built in 1926 and the world's largest Jai Alai Fronton, was still in operation as of 2014. See more »

Goofs

The ad for "free kittens" on the bulletin board when Peggy posts her roommate notice shows the phone number to call about the kittens is (212) KL5-0138. However, there is no need to show the area code since New York City only had 212 until 1984. Unless there are callers from out of state (or from Upstate New York), the area code wouldn't be needed as 212 would be the implied default. See more »
