Ezra Furman Is the Troubadour of Teenage Angst on ‘Sex Education’ Soundtrack

Ezra Furman wrote Sex Education’s standout track “Every Feeling” during one of her “depression days.” The song is featured on The Sex Education Original Soundtrack, out Friday via Bella Union.

“When I first wrote it, I thought it was too simple to even be legitimate. I thought it was half of a song,” she tells Rolling Stone. “I honestly wrote it in three minutes on the way out the door. It was a normal day, but I felt like, ‘I don’t even know if I can do this

Mega Man Movie Snags The Batman Writer

You’d be forgiven for believing as such, given near-total radio silence concerning the film, but 20th Century Fox’s Mega Man movie is still very much alive.

The video game series, which established itself as a tough-as-nails action-platformer in the late 80s on Nintendo’s Nes, remains one of the most popular video game franchises to this day, with countless sequels and crossovers under its belt. With a global fan base consisting of multiple generations, Capcom announced back in 2018 that, like Resident Evil, it was pursuing a live-action Mega Man film. 20th Century Fox subsequently confirmed its involvement in the project and… well, we’ve heard little else besides since.

Late last year, Capcom confirmed that the adaptation was still very much in the works, though was unable to confirm even a general release window. A number of writers and directors – including Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman – have been

McU Fans Really Want Christian Bale To Play Beta Ray Bill In Thor: Love And Thunder

Yesterday, the massively-exciting news broke that Christian Bale was said to be in talks for a key role in Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth installment in the McU’s Asgardian franchise. While Bale will always have ties to the comic book genre thanks to leading Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, this development has still come out of nowhere.

There’s no denying that the 45 year-old is one of the best actors working today that rarely, if ever, gives a bad performance, but a Marvel Studios blockbuster doesn’t exactly seem in his wheelhouse. Bale currently finds himself in the midst of the awards race yet again this year thanks to his work in James Mangold’s Ford v Ferrari, so the idea of him circling the wild and wacky cosmic adventures currently being thought up by writer/director Taika Waititi seems a little surprising.

John Turturro Is Crime Boss Carmine Falcone in The Batman

  • MovieWeb
Yet another classic DC Comics villain is joining The Batman. As announced by writer/director Matt Reeves, John Turturro has been added to the growing ensemble as Carmine Falcone, the major crime boss who operates in Gotham City. Turturro will star alongside Robert Pattinson, who has been tapped to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in the long-gestating comic book adaptation.

Casting has been heating up on the project of late, with several high-profile actors joining in various villain roles. It was said early on after Matt Reeves took over the gig from Ben Affleck, who was at one point set to write, direct and star, that the movie would feature several key villains from Batman's Rogues Gallery. The addition of John Turturro as Carmine Falcone comes as a surprise, given that neither the actor nor the character had been rumored for the project up until this point. Reeves, taking to Twitter,

Joel Edgerton could return as Owen Lars for Disney's Obi-Wan Kenobi series

Since those days, Edgerton has had memorable roles in Warrior, The Thing, Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby, Exodus: Gods And Kings, The Gift, Black…

Aaron Paul Struggled to Land Movies After ‘Breaking Bad,’ but Netflix’s Sequel Helped Him ‘Let Go’

Aaron Paul Struggled to Land Movies After ‘Breaking Bad,’ but Netflix’s Sequel Helped Him ‘Let Go’
Sometimes an actor lands a role or project that becomes so successful that they can seemingly never do anything else. To the hordes of actors toiling in obscurity, this may sound like a good problem to have. Almost six years to the day after the last episode of “Breaking Bad” aired, and after struggling to make the transition from TV icon to movie star, Aaron Paul is starting to see it that way, too. The actor, who became synonymous with his character Jesse Pinkman in Vince Gilligan’s Emmy-winning AMC series, will return to his star-making role this fall in Netflix’s hotly-anticipated “Breaking Bad” movie, “El Camino.”

After a string of failed movie roles, Paul is looking forward to revisiting Jesse. “I was so spoiled at the height of ‘Breaking Bad,’ I was being offered everything.” Paul told Vulture during a recent interview. His first plum movie roles after “Breaking Bad,

The Irishman Trailer Arrives, Martin Scorsese Reunites with Robert De Niro & Joe Pesci
Director Martin Scorsese's new movie The Irishman stars Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Al Pacino and is all set to open the New York Film Festival before hitting theaters and then Netflix later this year. To say that the new gangster movie by Martin Scorcese is much-anticipated doesn't really do it justice. But all the same, today we have the teaser trailer for you to behold.

The Irishman is an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th century. Spanning decades, the film chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics.

Aaron Paul Joins ‘Westworld’ Season 3
Science, bitch! Deadline reports that Aaron Paul is joining the cast of “Westworld” for its upcoming third season, marking the three-time Emmy winner’s return to prestige television after his roles in “Breaking Bad” and “The Path.” No word yet on who the former Jesse Pinkman will be playing, but speculation is sure to abound — especially as “Westworld,” even more than most shows, thrives on encouraging audiences to spend as much time figuring out what might happen next as they do actually watching it.

All three of Paul’s Emmy wins came for his lauded performance opposite Bryan Cranston on “Breaking Bad,” which aired five seasons from 2008–2013 and has become one of the most revered television series of all time; in addition to starring on all three seasons of Hulu’s cult drama “The Path,” he voices Todd Chavez on Netflix’s “BoJack Horseman.” Paul’s silver-screen career includes roles

‘Crazy Rich Asians’ has a crazy good 2nd weekend at the box office, so will Hollywood stop underestimating people of color

‘Crazy Rich Asians’ has a crazy good 2nd weekend at the box office, so will Hollywood stop underestimating people of color
The romantic comedy “Crazy Rich Asians” was a big hit during its opened weekend last week, making more than $26 million from that Friday to Sunday and $34 million over its first five days from Wednesday to Sunday. In week two it hardly slowed down at all. It made another $25 million in its second weekend, which was a minuscule drop of 5.7%. Word of mouth for the film is clearly strong, and with the Labor Day weekend coming up, it might not lose any ground then either.

Crazy Rich Asians” is the first major studio film in a quarter century with an Asian director (Jon M. Chu) and a predominantly Asian cast (led by Constance Wu and Michelle Yeoh), so its continued success represents this year’s latest example of how much money can be made by serving a historically under-served audience. Hollywood decision-makers have often been hesitant to cast people of color,

Disney Slammed Over 'Browning' White Extras in Aladdin Remake

Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin is currently filming just outside of London and a new report claims that hired Caucasian extras were lining up at a makeup tent to have their skin darkened. The movie, which is directed by Guy Ritchie, is being filmed at Longcross Studios, Surrey, a less than an hour drive from London where 1.1 million people of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Arab heritage live. Disney has come under fire for the move, with award winning director Riaz Meer accusing them hurling an "insult to the whole industry." Disney has released a statement regarding the matter.

The Sunday Times were the first to report that Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin, which stars Will Smith, had hired Caucasian extras and had their skin darkened to fit the part. The story quotes extra Kaushal Odedra, described as a stand in for one of the leads, as seeing as many

Ridley Scott Says ‘The Counselor’ Should Have Been “F***ing Huge!”

Say what you will about the varying quality levels of the latter day pictures of Ridley Scott, it can’t be denied the filmmaker is moving the speed with someone half his age, and has no problem jumping from one genre to another. Over the past five years or so he’s done a sword and sandals epic (“Exodus: Gods and Kings“), a couple “Alien” prequels, a big sci-fi adventure (“The Martian“), and this month’s true story, ’70s set thriller (“All The Money In The World“).

at the 20th anniversary of ‘Titanic,’ where are all the knockoffs?

December 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of what would become one of the most lucrative and most deliriously popular movies ever made: James Cameron’s Titanic. It should also mark the 20th anniversary of the beginning of a wave of Titanic clones — and it says something about the movie industry that it doesn’t.

The epic romantic disaster drama debuted in Us cinemas on December 19th, 1997, and wouldn’t leave Us cinemas until October 1998, 41 weeks later. It earned $1.8 billion worldwide, and remained the biggest box-office hit ever until 2010 (when it was supplanted by Cameron’s own Avatar). Titanic wasn’t just a huge hit; it was an inescapable phenomenon. Showings were sold-out well into early 1998, even with the film in saturation release, and it stayed at the top of the box-office charts for 15 consecutive weeks (still a record). The film was a critical success, and it tied for
