Crude oil, bad blood
30 November 2016 | by Mr-FusionSee all my reviews

'The Spoil' is "Justified" setting the stage for the season's big conflict: the Bennetts and Black Pike going to war over prime Harlan real estate. Factoring into this is Boyd, working for Big Oil's interests until he makes his own play. And at the center of this is an incendiary town hall meeting with Carol Johnson making her bit pitch to the citizenry. And Margo Martindale proceeds to burn the whole thing to the ground. Watching her overturn the meeting in all of her firebrand glory is a thrill. Populist, indeed.

And as a bridge to the next episode, it sets up a major payoff, as well as the last we'll be seeing of Ms. Johnson (my god, that robe scene).

8/10
