Omar resettles in Belfast after the violent death of his family in Somalia. His social worker Thomas encourages him to assimilate to Western civilization, but after hostile encounters at a new job, Omar resists adapting to his new life. Meanwhile, Omar's battle with post-traumatic stress disorder manifests in the form of nostalgic hallucinations. Thomas, in a good-intentioned effort to pull Omar out of his depression, inadvertently pushes him to his breaking point instead.
