Michael Verhoeven explained in the Filmoteca de Catalunya on October 1, 2016, that on one occasion a woman approached him with a manuscript and said: "This is the story of my life. Please, make you a movie with it.". After analyzing the text, Verhoeven recommended the woman to take a publisher to arranged and finalised it.
