Viacom Launches Paramount Plus, Noggin on Amazon Prime Video in Mexico

Continuing Paramount’s immersion in a Svod world, Viacom International Media Networks (Vimn) has confirmed a agreement to add two Svod services – Paramount Plus and Noggin, Nick Jr.’s learning service – to Amazon Prime Video’s lineup in Mexico.

The move comes as, in a separate announcement, as Paramount Channel Latinoamerica confirmed all on Tuesday that its first original series commission, teen sci-fi thriller ”Dani Who?” will bow its pilot episode on Amazon Prime Video on Nov. 8.

The Vimn-Amazon deal will see Viacom finding a powerful Ott outlet in Mexico, currently the most vibrant of Svod markets in Latin America.

Viacom Inks Major Deal With Russian Online Video Service ivi

Major Russian online video service ivi has concluded a licensing deal with Viacom, covering 75 seasons of children's television series, including SpongeBob SquarePants and Paw Patrol in one of Russia's largest online video content deals.

Among other titles included in the deal are Dora the Explorer, Blaze and the Monster Machines and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

As part of the deal, the Russian video service will also broadcast Viacom's 10 TV channels, including Paramount Comedy, Nickelodeon and MTV Hits, becoming the only online platform in Russia where all Viacom franchises are available.

Nickelodeon Buys Sparkler, Early-Childhood Learning Tech Startup, to Bulk Up Noggin Subscription Service

Viacom’s Nickelodeon plans to stir new technology into its Noggin subscription service with the acquisition of Sparkler — a move that promises to give parents tools to guide the learning of their preschool-age kids.

Nick on Friday announced the deal to acquire New York-based Sparkler, an early-childhood learning technology platform. The cabler also appointed Sparkler co-founder and CEO Kristen Kane (pictured above) as the new head of for the Noggin direct-to-consumer service.

A Nick rep declined to reveal how much the company paid for Sparkler or how many employees it has. Sparkler, founded in 2015, had received funding from angel investors and selected grants, including from the NewSchools Venture Fund, a nonprofit educational organization.

Nickelodeon said that over the next year, Sparkler’s technology — designed to measure child development and coach parents on improving their kids’ learning — will be integrated into Noggin’s platform. That will provide tools for parents to

China’s iQIYI Expands Nickelodeon Content Deal

Chinese video streaming platform iQIYI has renewed a content supply deal with Viacom’s Nickelodeon. The deal is a fourfold expansion of the amount of content iQIYI is buying.

iQIYI will take streaming rights for Mandarin and English versions of Nickelodeon shows including “Shimmer and Shine,” “Blaze and the Monster Machines,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Top Wing,” “Rusty Rivets” and “Rise of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

The companies previously struck a deal in 2012. They expanded that, in 2017, into an exclusive cooperation agreement.

“As iQIYI seeks to expand our selection of high-quality children’s content, it is more important than ever to partner with world-leading producers of children’s programming like Nickelodeon, a beloved children’s brand in the United States, whose content has strong appeal and relevance with the Chinese audience,” said Geng Danhao, senior VP of iQIYI.

The Chinese streaming giant last week revealed its first financial data since listing its shares on Nasdaq.

The Today co-anchor lends her voice to a new character, Mrs. Sweetums, during a guest appearance on Disney Junior’s Mickey and the Roadster Racers.

“Mrs. Sweetums is southern, and she just is ’cause she’s sweet as sugar,” Kotb says in a behind-the-scenes clip about her experience recording for the show.

“She runs this beautiful candy shop full of colors of smells and sweetness, and she is this sweet woman who just loves everybody,” adds the 53-year-old, who is mom to 10-month-old daughter Haley Joy.

Kelsea Ballerini is getting animated.

The "Peter Pan" singer is lending her voice to an upcoming episode of Nickelodeon's preschool series, Blaze and the Monster Machines, playing a plucky toucan named Tooks. She'll appear as part of a six-episode arc in 2017 that also features fellow country stars Billy Ray Cyrus and Darius Rucker.

The news comes just after Ballerini scored her very first Grammy nomination as one of the 2017 Best New Artist contenders. Et caught up with the 23-year-old singer-songwriter on Thursday to dish on pre-nomination jitters, congratulatory texts from pal Taylor Swift and her red carpet vision for the big day.
