Trying to have Madeline Thomas identify Leonard Maxwell in a line-up was a pointless endeavor since the statute of limitations on a rape that happened in the 1960s is long expired. When the statute of limitations was removed from rape in the first degree in 2006, it only applied to cases where the statute of limitations hadn't yet expired; it cannot be used to revive a case whose time limitations had already expired. Before the statute of limitations was removed in a case of rape one, charges had to be filed within five years, so when the changes went into effect in 2006, that meant that any cases of rape one that occurred between 2001 and 2006 could be prosecuted, but since the limitation timer on any cases of rape one that happened before 2001 had already expired at the time the new law took effect it could not serve to revive the case. This is not only true in New York state but in all states. See more »

Olivia Benson: Hey, Sarge.
Odafin Tutuola: Rub it in, why don't you?
Olivia Benson: Yeah, come on. You're gonna get used to it.
Odafin Tutuola: I doubt it, Liv. If I wanted to push paper, I'd sell insurance.
Olivia Benson: Come on, it's not gonna last forever.
Odafin Tutuola: Tomorrow's too long.
Olivia Benson: You know that my hands were tied on this one, right?
Odafin Tutuola: Yeah. I dug my hole, I'll eat the dirt.

One difficult case to make
17 May 2018 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

This SVU story has nursing home resident Fionnula Flanagan claiming she was raped. But she's fuzzy on the details because she suffers from Alzheimer's Disease.

I can attest these things really do happen. Back in my working days at Crime Victims Board I had a claim for 102 year old woman who was molested at the nursing home she was in. In fact the thought for a while is that she was flashing back on an affair she had 40 years ago.

But this thing is real enough when other victims start popping up. As for the perpetrator he's a man with some real mother issues and you might have them also if you had what he has for a mother.

There's a nice performance by Hal Linden as Flanagan's long ago indiscretion. And Ice-T makes sergeant. Will he stay at SVU? Isn't looking likely.
