Episode 5.4
24 April 2019 | by Prismark10See all my reviews

We are up to episode 4 and so far I do not think the fifth series of Line of Duty has grabbed me by the lapels yet.

The John Corbett story has ended up in a cul de sac. There is no way back for him after what he has done to Hasting's wife and others. Corbett still misguidedly believes that he is trying to expose the top corrupt cop.

The main problem to me is, there is too much focus on whether Hastings is the corrupt cop. This has unbalanced the fifth series.

Writer Jed Mercurio has a trick up his sleeve in this episode to alter the course of the remainder of the series.

The main question for me is whether Hastings is being set up? We have not yet had a lengthy interrogation by AC-12. All the indications are that Hastings could be in the receiving end of one.
