In Center Java Juno, a pre-teen abandoned by his father, joins a Lengger dance centre where men assume feminine appearances but the political and social upheaval in Indonesia forces him on the road, meeting remarkable people on his journey.
The story of Juno's journey from childhood to adulthood. He becomes a dancer in a village on Java, which is known as the village of Lengger Lanang, a female dance performed by male dancers. Juno's life is the life of a masculine and feminine body that is formed naturally by village life and his family. The next journey of his life was a journey full of trauma to his body. The trauma of political violence experienced by his father makes Juno lives alone. Juno's spent his childhood living in a poor village and had to be a mother and a father for himself. Juno sees a lot of violence appearing around him. The first trauma of violence he encountered was when he enters the lengger dance group in his village. Violence made him have to move from one village to another. Juno meet many human beings from boxers to Reog dancer maestros. This journey made his body experiencing a variety of violent trauma, from social trauma to the trauma of political violence. A journey that brings him to find the beauty of his body.
