Gantz: The Abridged Series (2008)
This Abridged Series was just as good as the actual Anime it parodied.
In some sick way Gantz got an abridged version back in 08 to 2010.
There was some high class editing and voice work from Hbi2k in this Abridged as it took all the problems people had with the show and basically turned them into funny skits that make this abridged so memorable. With reffrences to other pop culture and anime and turning Idea's such as Gantz' song introduction "It the Beginning of a Brand New Day." into Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up." is a brilliant use of the material.
The best jokes come from the Main Character Kei Kurono who in the Anime is a Selfish Teen Pervert and in this Abridged version is a somewhat dorky more sensible archetype of the Anime version, and the best parts come from when he shows off his strength and "badassness" while also creating his own version to the Huallaga chore song.
Throughout this abridged it's hinted that the ending will be the biggest part for the abridge to shine as they make note it's "A Worse Ending than Berserk" and in truth Gantz the anime is infamous for it's "filler" ending (Filler being an episode not in the source material and is often included to justify a 26 episode series)
The last ones instead of being dubbed Gantz Abridged. They are dubbed as GAS: TFC (Which in short means Gantz Abridged Series: The Filler Chronicles)
I enjoyed watching this series back in 2008-2010 and I enjoy it just as much in 2019. I would even say it's better than The Anime itself, but I ofcourse love the anime as well, so I would like to say this is one of those rare cases where a parody can be just as entertaining as it's content it has parodied.
Toy Story 4 (2019)
Toy Story 4 keeps the memories alive and well.
I don't normally write reviews on IMDB, but for this I just have to let out my love for this film. It's so beautiful to witness all the gang back together and not only that, but they are back with a more light hearted story of what happens After the curtains close.
Toy Story 4 Is a tale about what becomes of those after there purpose has been fulfilled, in a way you could sum up Toy Story 4 as a Retirement film and how to deal with letting go of things that cannot be replaced.
Along with the emotional messages the film gives off, I would say it's greatest aspect for this run is it's comedy, I found myself laughing out loud to jokes and characters that I normally think are poorly delivered, but Toy Story 4 knows it's audience and knows how to deliver it's comedy in such a way as it feels enduring to character depth.
I will say that to me personally it's not as good as 1, 2 or 3. But it doesn't try to be "better" it try's just "be" Toy Story and it does so with flying colours and I would still say this film is worth getting back into the Pixar craze once again.
I think with films like Coco and Incredibles 2, Pixar is back on track with there depth world building films that create more character driven stories better than anything in the film industry.
Overall I give Toy Story 4 an 8.6. Same rating as I have given Forest Gump, Black Swan & Terminator 2 Judgement Day.
Better than Season 7 & 8.
Thank you for paying memory to those who have fallen. The only thing that was missing was more names for the cast of brilliant characters.
Good Episode that couldn't save from it's Worst Season.
While everyone might praise this episode (for good reasons and bad), it still stands that this series has lost a lot of credibility, mainly due to it's bad writing and forced plot movement that really only served to destroy it's own defined rules it set in the beginning of the series, Jon is the rightful zombie ruler of the world, Dany is just looking for love and Littlefinger was just a nasty villain from Scooby Doo that would of gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling Starks.
The good or even great parts of this episode are from Tyrion, Cersei and Jaime. And even though the production design is gorgeous to look at. In fact this entire episode is arguably the best one of the season. But that isn't saying much, it's only confirming that Game of Thrones only cares more about it's final impact rather than it's whole story.
This season had the world going for it and instead of seizing it by the throat, it squandered it to the lowly crowd which demanded JonxDany, Big Dragon scenes and Arya fight scenes, with only more R+L=J theory conformation. Disappointment is sometimes worst than a simple series being bad, and while this series hasn't gotten True Blood bad, it sure seems to not care if it heads that way or not.
Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall (2017)
Game of Thrones Season 7! The season that turned something that could be considered the TV Version of Lord of the Rings, Has become the TV Version of Transformers.
This episode has really exposed a lot of D&D's writing laziness, I get that when you don't have a break after season 4 for a year and come back to write the final material for the series. But this season has suffered so much, and the fact that critics are giving it a pass cause it's Game of Thrones is nonsense and critics should really be ashamed of themselves if they think this episode didn't even remotely detract from the show's renowned attention to logic and writing.
Credit where credit is due (although there is very little of it), the CGI effects for the Three Dragons is at a perfect stage and they are really well done. And the opening scene with the 7 Characters bonding was done well. That's all.
Everything else is just put your head in your hands bad. From cheesy dialogue to unrealistic time constraints, to incredibly dumb character decisions to absolutely no repercussions to those characters dumb decisions, to very cringe inducing chemistry by Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington.
There are good 'Moments' in this episode, but there is no good 'Story' to this episode. which is very unfortunate as it now places a looming cloud over the show's ongoing quality stance and it also makes for less exciting scenes in future if the writers continue to go down the same route they did with this episode, and I say that as a fan who expected this episode (like many) to be one of the greatest episodes of all-time and considering that the show is in it's final season with a full year break to continue the end story, it's very disappointing and somewhat insulting for a show with such quality become very 'silly'.
I hope the show runners/writers and HBO understand that they have a reputation to uphold, and that is to give the best quality show's, we wouldn't want this to go down the True Blood final season route. Season 7 Part 2 must make sure they are as good as there earlier seasons in quality or else this show will just be like True Blood, An excellent beginning and a terrible finish. And considering HBO has done brilliant finishes to there previous titles. IE Boardwalk Empire, Sopranos, OZ. This one should be no different.
Rick and Morty: Rixty Minutes (2014)
The Reason Rick and Morty is more than meets the Eye
This Episode is to many where the show finds it's true footing, everything leading up to this point have been fun and adventurous to a wildly unexpected expectation and this episode is where Rick & Morty make the fun seem like the second refill to the wonderful family drama story told. The tension of Beth and Jerry's relationship is put in full swing as they contemplate how there lives would be so much better without Summer and Morty's birth and there life as a family now. Summer's character is shot to the moon with her obvious anger of being in some way betrayed by her parents announcement that they planned to have an abortion. Summer's angst leads to her wanting to move out and then we have something from Morty that is the complete reason why his character is one of the best of all-time. He tells Summer about his body being buried from the previous (my personal favorite episode) episode 6. This leads to a beautiful monologue that shows how Morty see's life but and cherishes his family. But the greatest moment is when Jerry watches his other world movie star persona being chased by the cops, and we see Beth's other world surgeon persona feeding her birds alone. It is when these two characters from the other world meet each other and profess how they'd give up there dreams to be with each other is when you realize just how much this show means. The real world Jerry and Beth cry, hug and kiss, with no words needed to be said. The moment is not just what family dramas need, it's something you realize about your parents or about yourself as a married couple. It's also a beautiful reason to believe in fate, if you so do believe in it. Overall this is a heart tugged episode that classify's Rick and Morty as not just a fun series, but a Show that knows how to handle time travel and all it's fun to the extent of even showing the drama that comes with it. Back to the Future never had a better rip off (jokes).
