The Hitman (1991)
Expert and vet cop played by Norris, in his usual style, pits himself against the underworld in Seattle
So-so action movie with Norris in the lead, you can take it for granted there will be plenty of shootouts, kicks and violence. Frantic action abounds in this modern-day mobster movie which pits our protagonist versus three different and bloody gangs. Unorthodox Norris plays an undercover cop as a Syndicate hitman in Seattle, as he carries out a merciless vengeance against sadistic, corrupt gangsters. As the unundercover policeman cleans up town crime by triggering a three-way mob bloodbath, beastly Italian mafiosi (Mafia boss results to be Al Waxman), snotty French-Canadian mafia (led by Joel Derouin) and Iranian hoods formed by the fanatical traditional scum. Along the way Norris informs the police chief (Ken Pogue) about his hidden activities and while he teaches a black kid martial arts to defend himself against abusive boys, so you know he is politically correct.
Typical Chuck Norris film with usual ingredients as thrills, high body-count, noisy action, crossfire, kick-ass and grisly killings . This one concerns a vet cop leads an one-man fight against corruption and mobsters from Seattle, and plenty of kicking and ominuous, heinous murders. As the picture contains a record-setting amount of people killed at Washington State. Here Norris is a bit less animated than a wooden Indian and the acting is more painful to endure than the violence. As mobsters are being mysteriously eliminated one by one and Karate expert Norris saves the day in this ordinary entry in action genre. Action addicts will give this a passing grade, all others need to apply. The picture was professional, though uneven, made by Aaron Norris, Chuck's brother, who directed him in various films. This one results to be a run-of-the-mill action movie but worthy entry to Norris career. Norris is well accompanied by an acceptable support cast such as : Alberta Watson, Al Waxman, George B Davis, Marcel Sabourin, Ken Pogue and special mention for Michael Parks playing magnificently an extreme villain.
This one belongs to the last period in Norris' long career. His first times played by low budget films as Breaker Breaker, Slaughter in San Francisco, Force of one. Subsequently, in his intermediate period, he made films in medium budget as Good guys wear black, Octagon, An eye of eye, Silent rage, Forced vengeance, Braddock :Missing in action I and II, Hero and the terror. He went on performing pictures in a greatest budgets and best filmmakers as Invasion USA, Firewalker, Lone Wolf McQuade, Delta Force, Delta Force 2 operation stronhold, Code of silence. And, finally, after his successful acting in Walker Texas Ranger , he played in short budgets and B-directors as Forest Warrior, Top dog, Hellbound, Sidekicks and this The Hitman.Rating 5.5/10. Regular and routine Chuck Norris film but acceptable and passable. The motion picture will appeal to action buffs and Norris fans.
Ride Beyond Vengeance (1966)
Offbeat , outlandish Western about a man seeking merciless revenge , including thrills , gunfire , fistfights and violence
At the opening and closing scenes , in which appear the notorious secondaries Arthur O'Connell and James McArthur , there are frames on an old worn wooden caption which reads : " Coldiron , Texas site of the reprisal population 754¨ . Then , there happens some flashbacks concerning Jonas Trapp (Chuck Connors, whose name has been changed from "Julius Rupp" to "Jonas Trapp") falling in love with the charming Jessie (Kathryn Hays) , a wealthy and gorgeous girl out of his humble class . Against the wishes of her stiff-upper-lip aunt (Ruth Warrick) , she marries him , later faking a pregnancy to win her snobbish aunt's consent . But Jonas abandons his home to seek fame and fortune . Many years later , with his self-made fortune , he sets out to go back home, to meet his strong-willed spouse , only to be set upon by three sadistic , villian assailants (Claude Akins , Bill Bixby , and veteran Michael Rennie) ; matters quickly get worse when these marauders rob his money , mark a sign on his chest and leave him for dead . Robbed and left to die he is saved by a farmer who nurses him back to health, as the rescued Jonas becomes consumed by the desire for vendetta , now the hunted becomes the hunter and he is determined to stop a ruthless drunk gunfighter and other attacker townsmen . As fate would have it, all three men live close to Jonas' former home . No one will forget that night of vengeance when the tiger came back to stalk his prey! Their desires...their hatred...their violence exploded one furious night !The West had yet to see its greatest showdown...this was it !.They stalked each other like animals in the night knowing only one would survive
Nice-looking but far from run-of-the-mill Western , including some novelties , but also with usual elements , such as franctic action , thrills , crossfire , drama , romance and some spectacular action scenes . Along with a love triangle in which implicates trio starring , as Jonas/Connors reunites with his wife Jessie/Kathryn Hays, only to discover that she is now engaged to Brooks/ Michael Rennie. The plot is plain and simple , a man results to be chased , ambushed , stolen , mistreated and humiliated by a nasty band ; now as a revenger seeks vendeta against those stole him , they are : a drunken gunslinger : Claude Akins , an elegant womanizer : Bill Bixby with several loving affairs and a wealthy owner : Michael Rennie . A blending of functional main actors with great character players of whom Chuck Connors holds the best role as a brave gunman seeking revenge in Spaghetti Western style , in fact this film is really influenced by the Italian Western , using its main motives : a relentless vengeance and spontaneous burts of violence . The movie titled¨Ride beyond vengence¨ changed its title from that of its source , a 1956 novel called "The Night of the Tiger," written by Al Dewlen , and also based on the names of the characters in the movie, with some brief exception . A warm and thrilling storyline and thanks to a personable realization and overwhelming action scenes makes an enjoyable movie , a real pleasure to listen to as well as watch . The hothouse plot drives mercilessly forward with frenetic action , breathtaking shooting , thrills , treason , rivalry , twists and turns . And a thrilling and exciting ending , containing a breathtaking fistfight with punches , leaps , slaps , knocks ...that is deemed by many as one of the best ever to show up in a film , western or otherwise . Chuck Connors gives a tough and two-fisted performance often emphasized by his muscular 6'6" physique . He plays a strong man who tired of living off of his wife's family, then eventually deserts her to become a buffalo hunter . Connors had a decent acting career , though Baseball had always been Connors' first love, and for the next several years he knocked about the minor leagues . Shortly after , devoted full time to his playing career, which often emphasized his impressive physique and height . Then a MGM casting director spotted Connors and recommended him for a part in the Spencer Tracy-Katharine Hepburn comedy Pat and Mike (1952). Originally cast to play a prizefighter, but that role went instead to Aldo Ray and Connors was cast as a captain in the state police . He now abandoned his athletic hopes and employed full time to his performancing career . During the next several years Connors made 20 movies, culminating in a key role in William Wyler's 1958 western The Big Country (1958) and a successful Sci-Fi , Soylent Green , along with his friend Charlton¨Chuck¨Heston . Also appearing in many television series , he finally hit the big time in 1958 with The Rifleman (1958), and it was ranked #32 in TV Guide's list of the "50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time" , it began its highly successful five-year run on ABC . Other television series followed , as did a number of movies which , though mostly minor, allowed Connors to display his range as both a stalwart "good guy" and a menacing "heavy". Chuck played various Westerns , such as : The hired gun , The deserter , Pancho Villa, Bordello, Texas Train and especially Geronimo ; he even performed a Spaghetti Western made in Italy : Kill Them All and Come Back Alone . Connors died at age 71 of lung cancer and pneumonia on November 10, 1992 in Los Angeles, California . Chuck is well accompanied by a very good support cast , such as : Michael Rennie as a mean , arrogant banker , Ruth Warrick as the strict aunt , Joan Blondell as a gossipy villager , Gloria Grahame as a cheating spouse having an affair , Gary Merrill as Jonas' foster dad , Bill Bixby as a violent seducer , Claude Akins as an alcoholic killer , James McArthur as a Census controller visiting the small town , Arthur O'Connell as a barman , Buddy Baer as a bouncer , Robert Q. Lewis , William Bryant , Jamie Farr , Harry Harvey , and Frank Gorshin , the famous Riddler of Batman series as a greedy ranch hand.
Well financed by Columbia Pictures (1966) and Andrew J. Fenady , producer who also wrote the screenplay along with author Al Lewden who created the novel "The Night of the Tiger" . And atmospheric soundtrack by Richard Markowitz , adding wonderful song at the beginning and ending . It is titled : ¨You Can't Ever Go Home Again¨ with Music by Richard Markowitz , Lyrics by Andrew J. Fenady and Sung by Glenn Yarbrough . It packs an evocative and adequate cinematography by Lester Shorr , but in television style . Being original and professionally directed by craftsman Bernard McEveety . He was a nice artisan who directed a lot of episodes of TV series and telefilms , such as : Jim West , Planet of Apes , The quest , How the West Was Won , Marcus Welby Gunsmoke , B.J. and the Bear , Banacek , Las Vegas , Centennial , S.W.A.T. , Hawaii 5.0 , Petrocelli , The mask of Alexander , Cimarron , Three for the Road , The Rockford cases, and The Big Valley . Bernard ocassionally directed for big screen , such as : Broken Sabre , Napoleón y Samantha , One Little Indian and Brotherhood of Satan . Rating : 6.5/10 . Acceptable , passable and decent Western . Well worth watching .

Sizzling and exciting adventure Western with drama , frantic action and breathtaking ending

Then , Calhoun falls for an unhappy and high-thinking teacher (Shelley Winters) , allied to the fiery , dedicated revolutionaries . Throughout the dangerous paths the expedition carrying the valuable treasure being chased by the Indians and the federales , government troops , in pursuit, too .Gold For Villa !' A slice of living history out of Pancho Villa's fabulous saga! With gust and gunfire and more dangers lurk. ¡ , they blasted their way into history! "Kill you for a woman, gringo? Never! But for the gold...?" Out of Pancho Villa's fabulous saga comes this slice of living history...filmed in Mexico's wild regions where it once happened, as it once happened! The cry that rooked the world'd hottest strip the hell ¡.
A Western drama with dramatic moments , noisy action , shootouts , crosses , doublé crosses and a highly commendable musical score . Bursting with attractive characters, interesting sub-plots , symbols , and with very decent filmmaking and interpretation . It is set in 1915 , Mexico Revolution , where the ever popular ex-revolutionary dictator, Pancho Villa, has been deposed and driven to his home province by another tyrant. Mexican revolution often brings out the best in Hollywood's Soldier Of Fortune action heroes , they are apt to give quite a lift , too, to a routine Western story ; these heroes were usually starred by Robert Mitchum , such as ¨Bandolero¨ by Richard Fleischer with Robert Mitchum , Zachary Scott , Ursula Thies ; ¨Viva rides¨by Buzz Kulik with Mitchum , Yul Bynner , Charles Bronson ; and ¨The wonderful country¨1959 by Robert Parish with Robert Mitchum , Julie London , Garry Merrill , Albert Dekker . Photographically with portentous images , being spectacularly filmed among the treacherous canyons of old Mexico and musically , it's a continuous treat , including an excellently thrilling climax . The picture centers on Rory Calhoun , a gringo and bank robber Tom Bryan who hopes to retire to Mexico, as he is a mercenary operating South of Border , in a gun-running mission and transporting a treasure , as he finds out the blessings , and along the way delivering the gold to Pancho by Yaqui country proves harder . Rory Calhoun grapples rather unsteadly with his role as a gunrrunner who ends with his heart in the right place . Rory gives a lively as well as easy acting as an extremely tough and two-fisted soldier of fortune wielding a machine-gun over his shoulders to get his objectives . Rory was a B-actor who starred a lot of films of all kinds of genres , outstanding in Western , Wartime , Nor film and drama , such as : Ticket to Tomahawk , A bullet is waiting , Finger on the trigger , Apache uprising , Hard driving' , The red house , Mission to Glory , Martin the Gaucho , Adventure island , Dayton's devil, The rebels , Operation Cross Eagles , Bad Jim , I'd climb the highhest , River of no return , Motel Hell , Angel , Avenging Angel . The gorgeous eye-candy Shelley Winters, married Vittorio Gassman and Anthony Franciosa , here she plays a sweet role , though Shelley ,subsequently , would perfom hardest and dramatic characters ; at the beginning she was a model, vaudevillian and nightclub chorine , turning a good actress . Winters is pretty good as the teacher with a sad life , and she attempts to take a honest way by supporting the revolutionaries . Satisfying support cast plenty of prestigious secondaries such as : Joseph Calleia and the latin lover Gilbert Roland also takes advantage from a villain but good character . Including a lot of extras , as the older Mexicans hired as extras in the film were former soldiers of Pancho Villa and others were former government troops who fought them. Interesting and well structured screenplay - though somewhat wordy- by Niven Busch , based on a successful story . It contains a colorful cinematography in Cinemascope , Color De Luxe by courtesy of William Snyder , including wonderful landscapes from Morelos , Mexico ; in fact , it was shot on many of the actual battle sites of the 1916 Mexican revolution . And a sensitive and rousing musical score by Leith Stevens , adding marvelous Mexican sounds and songs , including the famous ¨ La Cucaracha¨ the traditional song whistled at different times by Castro, Bryan, and others and also performed by the passengers on the train .
This modest drama/action/Western picture was professionally and firmly directed by George Sherman , assisted by a Mexico production unit ; though slowly filmed, as I miss more action and shots, but it also has explosion, pursuits and impressive battles . The movie was a collaboration between Edmund Grainger Productions and RKO Radio Pictures , supported by the prestigious crfatsman fimmaker Sherman .The motion picture was professionally directed by George Sherman in B-style , though has some flaws . Entertainment , ,atmosphere , action and excitement surge along with the tale under the hand of filmmaker George Sherman , who is clearly more at home withh the trrilling scenes thatn with somewhat excessively talking storyline .Sherman made reliable low-budget fare for Columbia between 1945-48, then moved on to do the same at Universal for another eight years , where he directed this ¨War Arrow¨ . Sherman specialized almost exclusively in "B" westerns there , including the "Three Musketeers" series, which featured a young John Wayne. George directed lots of Westerns as ¨The Last of the Fast Guns¨ , ¨The Lone Hand¨, ¨Santa Fe stampede¨ , ¨Red skin¨ , ¨Chief Crazy Horse¨ ¨Calamity Jane¨, ¨Relentless¨ , ¨Comanche Territory¨ , ¨Dawn at Socorro¨, ¨Border River¨ and many others . He also made occasional forays into action and horror themes, often achieving a sense of style over substance . The only "A"-grade films to his credit were two westerns starring John Wayne: ¨Comancheros¨ (1961) (as producer) and ¨The big Jack¨ (1971) . His last films were realized in Spain as "Find That Girl" , ¨The new Cinderella¨ and ¨Joaquin Murrieta¨. War Arrow rating : 6/10 . Acceptable and passable . Well worth watching
The Canadians (1961)
Burt Kennedy's first passable Western about the Sioux flight to Canada after Little Big Horn 1876
When the savage Sioux come to Canada following the death of General George Armstrong Custer , 1876 , the Canadians and the Queen of Commomwealth permit them to stay in Canada if they come peacefully . Nevertheless , some hunters kill all inhabitants of one of their villages and carring out Buffalo massacre . As a rancher (John Dehner) attempts to recover a stolen or strayed horse from Indians who had nothing to do with said horse . Along the way killing a number of the Natives , but almost losing their own lives in the exchange of shootouts . Shortly, a Canadian Police superior officer (Robert Ryan) followed by his underlings (Torin Thatcher , Metcalf) executes a dangerous mission . Running into trouble with the rancher , but kept to the narrow and straight by the Mounties . The cowboys seek to get back their horses , but they are detained by the Mounties , and they state that pretend to search for a girl who once had been kidnapped by the Indians , but Mountie Ryan takes the hunters charged with murder .
Spectacular and enough budget western with thrills , adventures , fights , go riding , gunfire , emotion and being mostly shot on location in Saskatchewan . This is an impressive saga of the conquest of the Saskatchewan territory where the Royal Northwest Mounted Police stood alone against the fury of the Custer-massacring Sioux and the Cree nation . Despite Robert Ryan and John Dehner presences , a completely average movie , with a trite screenplay and regularly paced . Thinly written for the screen by Burt Kennedy , author of the original script allegedly based on facts , as the exciting story is fictionalized, but based on the Assiniboine massacre that occurred in Saskatchewan in1873 and including some disapponting moments . On the plus side , there are reasonable good acting from a nice cast and support cast . As main cast is pretty good , it stars the estimable Robert Ryan who incidentally performed a Mountie in his first movie : Cecil B. De Mille's North West Mounted Police . Ryan was a fine actor who interpreted some classic Noir Films and a lot of Westerns , such as : Hour of the gun , The Wild Bunch , The Professionals , Ice Palace , The Tall men , Return of the bad men , Best of the badmen . But he also outstood playing other genres as Wartime : Anzio , The Dirty Dozen , Battle of Bugle , Berlin Express , Flying Leathernecks , The longest day , Men in war , Billy Budd ; and Noir/thriller genre : On dangerous ground , Clash by night , Caught , The Racket, The Set-up , Crossfire , Beware my lovely , Back from eternity . Support cast is frankly fine , such as : John Dehner as a vengeful rancher , Torin Thatcher as a very authentic and striking looking officer and Metcalf as an inept Mountie . The female lead is taken by pretty Brooklyn Opera singer Teresa Stratas as a captive , but she has little to do and isn't in it very much , exception for her usual songs , being the film constantly slanted by her . Other secondaries appearing are John Sutton , Richard Alden and Michael Pate as Chief Four Horns .
This colorful movie belongs to Canadian Mountie sub-genre, as films about Mounties always get entertainment and amusement , they have been few and far between ; including important titles as the classy ¨Unconquered¨by Cecil B DeMille with Gary Cooper , Robert Preston , Paulette Goddard , ¨Pony Soldier¨ 1952 by Joseph M. Newman with Tyrone Power and ¨Saskatchewan¨ 1954 by Raoul Walsh with Alan Ladd , Shelley Winters , J Carol Naish , Hugh O'Brian . The Canadians packs a glimmer and rousing cinematography by Arthur Ibbeson, showing splendorous landscapes . As well as an evocative and sensitive musical score by Douglas Gamley . This movie was filmed on location in the real Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan, Canada , with a nice camera work by cinematographer Arthur Ibbeson . The motion picture was ably made by the great director/writer Burt Kennedy . Here's a thrilling manhunt tale written and made by Kennedy , later to become one of America's foremost filmmakers . There he maintains comfortably in the ordinary traditions , though it has some flaws . Kennedy was a good professional , a fine director who made several Westerns and being usual screenwriter of the notorious filmmaker Budd Boetticher. Kennedy was kept on at Batjac to write films for producer Wayne. His initial effort, 7 Men from Now (1956), was a superb western, the first of the esteemed collaboration between director Budd Boetticher and star Randolph Scott. Kennedy wrote most of that series, as well as a number of others for Batjac, although it would be nearly 20 years before Wayne actually appeared in the film of a Kennedy script. Burt was a prolific director , writer , and producer , being essential his deep collaboration as a great screen-writer to director Budd Boetticher , the latter considered to be one of the best Western filmmakers . Kennedy directed all kinds of genres with penchant for Western , as Burt made quite a few Westerns , such as : The Rounders, Return of the seven , Welcome to hard times, The war wagon , Support you local sheriff , The good guys and the bad guys , Hannie Caulder , Support your local gunfiighter , Dirty Dingus Mgee , Young Billy Young , The Alamo , The train robbers , Down the long hills , Big bad John , Where the hell's that gold ? and Once upon a Texas train . The Canadians is no earth shattering seeing experience at all, but with its saving graces as the gorgeous , glimmer outdoors , and the presence of its main actors , it is just about worth a look . Rating 5.5/10
The Black Tent (1956)
WWII romance mystery with exotic scenarios from the British Rank factory
Intriguing adventure/WWII yarn dealing with a wealthy heir (Donald Sinden) is worried when his eldest brother (Anthony Steel) fails to return home from North African campaign , as Rommel's Africa Korps have vanquished the British army in Tobruk . As brother Donald Sinden is packed off to discover that he's fallen for a Sheik's (Andre Morell) daughter (Anna Maria Sandri) and thrown in an adventurous life with a Bedouin tribe in the Libyan African desert.
Drama , mystery , intrigue , romance story in which the alleged heir of a fortune is worried about the eldest sibling who occupies the ancestral seat has disappeared during the African campaign and then he sets out in his quest . Well written by actor/director Bryan Forbes and Robin Maughan , based on his novel . Pleasantly filmed romantic drama , all very stiff-upper-lip , here outstanding a pretty good main and support cast . As stiff Anthony Steel gives a passable acting as the British soldier who joins the Bedouin and romances the native chief's daughter , subsequently marrying her and then he helps the tribe fight off a Nazi attack . Along with the beautiful Italian actress who had a brief career, Anna Maria Sandri , giving a below-average acting . Other actors appearing as Donald Sinden and Andre Morell provide better performances . Furthermore , prestigious British secondaries as Donald Pleasence , Ralph Truman , Anthony Bushell , Michael Craig , Anton Diffring in his usual Nazi role, Bryan Forbes himseld as a dying Soldier and Nanette Newman uncredited as Mabrouka's voice.
It packs a colorful and sunny cinematography by Desmond Dickinson , shot on location in Roman ruins, Sabratha, Libya and Pinewood Studios, Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, Compton Wynyates, Warwickshire, England, UK . It conatins an atmospheric and evocative musical score by William Alwyn ,adding Arabian sounds . The motion picture nicely produced by Earl St. John , being professionally directed by Brian Desmond Hurst , though I has some failures . Brian arranges to flatten the interest out of potentially thrilling material . Hurst was a craftsman , probably best known to modern audiences as the director of exotic adventures , WWII , Christmas and controversial films . He made what is generally considered to be Ireland's first sound film, Irish Hearts (1934). Two years later he made a film that caused the authorities in his native Northern Ireland to forbid it from being shown there : Ourselves Alone (1936), a story of the 1921 Irish rebellion against British rule , being the English language equivalent of the name for the Irish political party "Sinn Féin", it was banned in his native Northern Ireland at the time of its release in 1936, although it has since achieved critical and is shown in museums and other public access points in Northern Ireland . And he , subsequently , went back his Irish roots in other films as Hungry Hill (1947) . Hurst ran into censorship troubles again with his adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart (1934), which was prohibited in many areas of Great Britain for being "too horrible" for public exhibition. These incidents didn't deter Hurst from making controversial films, however. He turned out the dark On the night of the fire (1939) in 1939, regarded as one of the first British "noir" films . During the war Hurst made such films as Dangerous Moonlight (1941), a well-regarded story of an American newswoman in England who falls in love with an exiled Polish pianist who wants to return to his country to fight the Nazis , this film also popularized the musical number "Warsaw Concerto". After the war he made what he regarded as his favorite film, Theirs Is the Glory (1946), about the disastrous British-American wartime operation at Arnhem in Holland, which became Britain's biggest-grossing film for almost a decade . The film he is most famous for results to be Scrooge (1951) with Alastair Sim, considered by critics and audiences alike to be the best and definitive film version of Charles Dickens' classic novel "A Christmas Carol" . He is also noted for his World War II film The lion has wings (1939) . Among his other successes was Malta story (1953), about the defiant resistance of the military and civilian populations on the island of Malta against relentless Nazi bombing during the war, and Simba (1955), about the Mau-Mau rebellion against British colonial rule in Kenya . And other movies as ¨Trottie true¨, ¨The Mark of Cain¨ , ¨Behind the mask¨, and ¨Dangerous Exile¨ about the French Revolution . He retired in 1963 after "John Millington Synge's Playboy of the Western World" which was his final picture , and died in London in 1986.
Plan de fuga (2016)
Nice crime thriller with action, drama, suspense and a deep friendship between two protagonists
The film deals with an expert robber , Alain Hernandez, with blowtorch called Victor who is contracted by a band of the Russian mob to carry out a bank robbery. The objective is the Swiss Credit Bank, to take the huge amount around 3o.ooo.ooo Euros guarded at the safebox . But the plan goes wrong after knowing the driver for the assault is Rapido : Javier Gutierrez, a druggie friend of the starring and a lieutenant , Police Inspector Luis Tosar goes after the criminal gang formed by the nasty Russian mobsters.
Good thriller with a lot of twists, turns, violence, blooshed, pulse-quickening action scenes, some cliches and a suspenseful final . As twists create its genre framework, as we learn suddenly the true identity of the starring and a moving bank assault . But is overall a pretty solid film, a fine filmmaking for thriller genre with a conscience and exceptionally fine camerawork. Nice acting by Alain Hernandez as the expert delinquent with dark secrets . Special mention for Javier Gutierrez as a troublesome junkie and his long-life friend as well as accomplice in their times as juvenile crooks. They are well accompanied by a good support cast, such as Luis Tosar, Iztiar Atienza and Alba Galocha.
It contains an adequate and atmospheric cinematogaphy, being shot on location in Bilbao. And thrilling and exciting musical score by Pascal Gaigne, considered to be one of the best Spanish composers who has composed sensitive soundtracks for The Giant, Then endless trench, The olive tree, Katmandu, Verbo, We are pregnant, The lighthouse of whales. The picture was decent and professionally directed by Iñaki Dorrondoro, though it has some failures . The film achieved various nominations and prizes as Malaga Festival Silver Biznaga to best music, Pascal Gaigne, and nominee best director, Iñaki Dorronsoro. And IFMCA , International Music Critics, nominee to best music, Pascal Gaigne. Rating 6/10. Acceptable and passable thriller.

Starring is George Montgomery , a mediocre actor of B movies . He was born to Ukranian inmigrantes and was a heavyweight bóxer previously becoming a player. Plus , he was an excellent craftsman and built and designed homes, besides he was a self-taught artist creating bronze busts for popular actors . He starred a lot of films , working all around the world and played all kinds of genres as Adventure : Watusi, Steel Claw ; Warlike : Battle of Bulge , Hell of Borneo; and especiallly Westerns : Fort Ti, Last of the Badmen , Durango , Seminole.

Acceptable Science Fiction movie with no special effects, packing a good cast and nice interpretations

Decent Scifi with a great Spanish cast full of known actors giving magnificent interpretations . An interesting issue, though extremely talking , concerning a possible nuclear apocalypse on a town in which all neighbours get away , except for 13 fighting for salvation, and gather in the church , then the inminent explosion of the atom-head causes panic, terror and despair among the isolated people . This is a family movie , in fact, most of the main roles are perfomed by members of the Ozores family , as Antonio Ozores and José Luis Ozores are siblings .The latter was very sick, that's why Jose Luis played an alcoholic and usually sitting . And Antonio Ozores is father of actress Emma Ozores and José Luis Ozores is father actress Adriana Ozores .Elisa Montes was spouse of Antonio Ozores and Emma Penella was the sister of Elisa Montes .As well as Luis Prendes and Mary Carmen Prendes were brothers. And Rafael Arcos is brother-in-law of Mariano Ozores. Finally , Fernando Rey and Mabel Karr were marriage in real life. All of them provide terrific performances.

But things go wrong and terrible happenings take place.
This is a prequel belonging to trilogy about private detective German Areta, the most particular investigator of the Spanish cinema, dealing with his adventures, misfortunes and distresses. This is a good Noir film with a lot winks to Hollywood classic movies and to American Literature, especially writers as Dashiell Hammet and Raymond Chandler. In fact, this picture was dedicated to James M Cain, while El Crack I is to Dashiell Hammet and El Crack II dedicated to Raymond Chandler. These films pay tribute to popular detectives as Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe that are Germán Areta-alike. This Crack cero story has so much substance, suspense, intrigue and thrills. As well as an essential sociological and historical point of view of an important period, the final of the Francoist dictatorship . The rhythm of the film is slow-moving, that doesn't mean boring, neither tiring, nor dull, but entertaining. Starring Carlos Fuentes gives a marvellous acting in Alfredo Landa style, being helped by an ex-delinquent called Barcenas played masterfully played by Miguel Angel Muñoz, as they go into action by investigating a strange tailor who committed suicide. And outstanding a top-notch support cast, such as : Paula Echevarria, Luisa Gavasa, Patricia Vico, Andoni Ferreño, Raúl Mérida, Macarena Gómez, Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, Ramón Langa, Luis Varela, Miguel Angel Muñoz as Cardenas El Moro in same character who performed Miguel Rellán, and Pedro Casablanc in the former role played by José Bódalo, among others.
It contains a sentimental and repetitive musical score by Jesús Gluck, similar to first and second installments. Evocative and adequate cinematography in black and white by Luis Angel Pérez, plenty of lights and shades . Nicely shot in Madrid, where Garci usually shoots his fims, in fact Madrid and N. Y. are the cities of their dreams . It captures fabulously Madrid of middle 70s, as costumes, dresses, fashions, streets, buildings, boxing combats, meetings in which participants playing cards, cars.. The motion picture was well directed by José Luis Garci, considered to be one of the best filmmakers of the Spanish movie industry. Garci directs good and successful movies as his first trilogy formed by Asignatura pendiente, Asignatura aprobada and Las Verdes Praderas. Following other prestigious films as Sesión continua, La herida luminosa, El abuelo, Tiovivo 1950, La luz del domingo, Ninette. And even getting an Academy Award for Volver a empezar. And Special mention for The Crack I, The Crack II with the great Alfredo Landa and this El Crack cero with Carlos Santos. Rating 7/10. Better than average.
Vete de mí (2006)
Agreeable and charming comedy with enjoyable roles, brief drama and magnificent interpretations
Entertaining dramedy about an egoistic 30-year-old son called Guillermo, Juan Diego Botto, who goes home his father named Sebastian ,
Juan Diego, when he makes an argument with his mother .Guillermo tells him he is at University, as a third degree law student. Sebastian is separated and living with a youngest woman, Ana : Cristina Plazas. Then father and son go home his mother, Rosa Maria Sarda, the ex-wife tells that Guillermo is a liar who has been studying Jew language, Veterinary, and shooting shorts and working as a D. J.
Amusing and enjoyable comedy concerning about a weird family, a peculiar relationship betwen a stressed father and a selfish son, dealing with an inter-generational conflict. There is a deep character studio about two main roles, father and son. Both of them are selfish people and both, the veteran Santiago and the reliant Guillermo, suffering the Peter Pan Syndrome and they seem compete to be the person more egoistic . At the end the father results to be as immature and frustrated as his son. Juan Diego gives an excellent performance as the unsure father who is annoyed when his son arrives at home, and Diego Botto is top-notch as the eternal adolescent who doesn't want to mature. The film pays an enjoyable tribute to stage acting, as we are watching theatre playing with special appearance from notorious players as Ana Maria Vidal, Esperanza Roy and Jose Sazatornil, Saza, at his last film.
Sour and interesting script written by Jonás Trueba and Vicente Garcia León himself, both of whom are sons of the known directors , Jose Luis Garcia Sanchez and Fernando Trueba, previously collaborated in the film "Mas Pena que Gloria". The motion picture was professionaly directed by Vicente Garcia León , though it has some flaws and gaps. Vicente is a good writer and director who has made a few films , such as : "Selfie" , a segment of "Hay Motivo" , "Mas pena que gloria", and directing some TV series as "Hispania la leyenda", "Familia", " vota por Juan" and "Derecho a soñar" . Rating 6.5/10. Decent dramedy.
This "Vete De Mi" achieved a great number of awards and nominations as : CEC nominee Juan Diego. Goya best actor to Juan Diego and nominee Juan Diego Botto. Overwhelming and impressive entry filled with non-stop action , thrills , galactic battles and emotions
The 12th feature film in the Star Trek franchise and third produced by J.J. Abrams results to be an exciting and thrilling roller-coaster . At the beginning , in the opening scene , Captain Kirk is suddenly attacked by hoards of small aliens. After being beamed back to the Enterprise , he remarks: "I ripped my shirt again¨. As the crew of the USS Enterprise explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space , where they encounter a new ruthless enemy leading an evil force , who puts them, and everything the Federation stands for, to the test and leaving our world in a state of crisis . Along the way , the USS Enterprise 1701 suffers warp fields or a static warp bubble and the aircraft is seriously damaged . Later on , Kirk along with his crew (Zachary Quinto : Spock , Zoe Saldana : Uhura , Karl Urban : Bones , Simon Pegg : Scotty , John Cho : Sulu , Anton Yelchin : Chekov) take the Enterprise deep into the dark and mysterious zone . There an alien warlord calles Krall (Idris Elba) seeks an ancient weapon called the Abronath that Kirk has kept hidden later an unsuccessful diplomatic assignment . Only a rebellious alien warrior called Jaylah (Sofia Boutella ) can help them reunite and leave the planet to stop this deadly menace from beginning a possible galactic war.
This epic story is concentrated on characters as well as thrill-packed action and state-of-art special effects , in fact , there're numerous of that too . The movie has thrills , tension , emotion , suspense and sensational space scenarios like is customary development of the franchise , though it doesn't features any scenes on or near Earth . The first film of the franchise produced/written by J.J. Abrahams was ¨Star Trek¨(2009) and this film ¨Star Trek : Beyond¨ (2016) is the follow-up to ¨Star Trek Into Darkness¨ (2013) and takes place two and a half years after .Here the Enterprise crew find an unstoppable force of terror from beyond that has detonated a fleet and everything it stands for , as they are stranded on an unknown planet and with no apparent means of rescue , and subsequently, they encounter themselves fighting a ruthless enemy with a well-earned hatred of the Federation . Spectacular , exciting , fast-paced , thrilling this is the description of this new outing of Star Trek , film that reinvents the saga through a perfect pulse narrative that does not give a second of rest to the spectator who is trapped for two hours and some approx. in a genuine visual spectacle . Idealism , humor , humanity , a motley group of agreeable characters and trademark effects abound and will please the enthusiasts as well as the neophyte . As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death , love will be challenged , friendships will be torn apart , and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left : his crew . The nice acting convinces , especially the avenger Idris Elba in a super-villain role , Zachary Quinto in his usual serious character , and the sympathetic Simon Pegg , while other players also make a fine work . And of course , attractive appearance by Sofia Boutella who wears an extreme make-up , giving a sympathetic and enjoyable intervention . As well as brief acting by Greg Grunberg , being his second Star Trek film in the current franchise , but only his first on-screen appearance as Commander Finnegan . And being Anton Yelchin's final Star Trek film before his death on June 19, 2016 , at the age of twenty-seven years old and caused by a car accident .
Stirring final amazing really the spectator , in which the moving and spectacular scenes create a perfect union that terminates with an ending that leaves you stuck in the armchair facing the formidable spectacle as a privileged witness . Interesting screenplay , well written by various screenwriters : Simon Pegg , Doug Jung and uncredited : Roberto Orci , Patrick McKay , John D. Payne , J.J. Abrams , based upon "Star Trek" created by Gene Roddenberry. Screen-writer/actor Simon Pegg explained that the dilemma for the sequel was whether to pit the crew against another villain like in Star Trek (2009), or to have an "exploration sci-fi plot where the unknown and nature itself is somehow an adversary", like on Star Trek , the original series (1966) . Breathtaking soundtrack by Michael Giacchino , he composes an impressive musical accompaniment to the film . This marks the first time a Star Trek film has shot outside the United States and not in Hollywood . In fact this is the only Star Trek film to be shot primarily in Vancouver , British Columbia, and the existing sets were rebuilt for special effects sequences . Furthermore , a colorful and evocative cinematography by Stephen Windon ; however , being first Star Trek feature to be shot entirely digital adding a lot of frames in CGI . Paramount Pictures requested the notorious director Justin Lin who provided a nail-biting and sensational science-fiction movie , he previously made a lot of successes , such as : Annapolis , Better luck tomorrow , Fast & Furious , Tokyo race , Fast and Furious 5 , Fast and Furious 6 , among others . Suitable for family viewing , it's an entertaining adventure which young and old men will enjoy . Fans of the series will find very amusing and charming . It is fun to watch and Trekkies are sure to love it , resulting to be one of the best Star Trek sequels of all time and the highest grossing film of all the Star Trek movies.
Crimen en familia (1985)
Violent and hard drama about a dysfunctional family being mistreated by an abusive father
Sad and some depressing film about a peculiar family , including intense drama , strong love scenes , emotion and violence . Then thing go wrong and the family -being completely dejected, defeated and nervous- plan the killing of the abusive husband. Based on a real crime : the famous murder of ¨Dulce Neus¨.
Dramatic film dealing with a tyrant father who mistreats his wife and children . This is a downbeat drama/thriller far from ordinary , concerning sexual abuse , obsession , as mother and kids suffering twisted happenings , but things go awry and it results in a grisly killing . It is plenty of moving drama , nudism , emotion , rough sex , thrills , mayhem and a known ending . An intelligent and engaging script which uses moving situations to give us an acceptable movie in a high suspense and complexity and that kept you entertained for the almost 100 minutes of duration . Regarding the complex and violent relationship of a couple and their seriously affected kids through several years until an unpredictable event cruelly hits them . Flawless story with a duo of handsome protagonists , Charo López and Agustin González . Interesting screenplay from prestigious Spanish screen-writers : Gonzalo Goicoechea , director Santiago San Miguel himself and Perla Vonasek. The flick develops a lot of steamy affairs between two main roles involved into an embarrassing and disconcerting relationship . Adding some exploitation moments as the husband and his friend attempt to rape the disconcerting wife . Rightly paced , so-so drama/thriller which neatly combines nail-biting set pieces , love scenes , disagreeable situations and tension . You can find a little flaws in the story lines , there are some left unexplained and others characters end up being implausible . Pay attention the very well played support cast , giving decent interpretations : Cristina Marsillach , Francisco Casares , Francisco Merino , Juan Jesús Valverde , Raúl Fraire, José Yepes , Concha Leza , Fernando Guillén, Andrés Resino , Antonio Gamero, among others .
Being written by Gonzalo Goicoechea , Eloy de la Iglesia's ordinary , who scripted him 10 films , such as Colegas , Navajeros, El Pico 1 , El Pico II , La Estanquera de Vallecas , Los placeres ocultos , La mujer del ministro , El Diputado , Navajeros , Otra vuelta de tuerca. . It contains atmospheric musical score by Ricard Miralles and evocative Cinematography by José García Galisteo . The motion picture was professionally directed by Santiago san Miguel , though with no originality and it failed at boxoffice . Santiago San Miguel was born in 1939 in Donostia-San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa, País Vasco, Spain. He is a writer and director, known for Todos o nadie (1975) , Adiós, Alicia (1977), El Señor de los llanos (1987) Hay que zurrar a los pobres (1991) , Tatiana, la muñeca rusa (1995) , Azaña (2008) and this Crimen en familia (1985) that is a passable movie . rating : 5.5/10 .
Floquet de Neu (2011)
Fun adventures starred by Snowflake , full of spectacle , laughter , adventures and emotion
The film is quite amusing with emphasis on computer generator spectacle blending live action , though extremely sentimental and film direction by Andrés G. Schaer is passable . Family entertainment in which some of the sequences are too far-fetched , there are plot holes , and flaws , but the picture tourns out to be bemusing . Concerning the fun and funny adventures of a little gorilla , Snowflake , (voice by Ariana Grande) is special , but being different is a real adventure . She's the only white gorilla in the world , and the menagerie's main attraction. Children love her, but the other gorillas , Petunia (Jennette McCurdy), Elvis (Nathan Kress), and Anvil (Keith David), don't, because she's different. With the help of a weird red panda named Jenga (David Spade), Snowflake plans a secret mission to sneak out of the zoo . As Snowflake and Red Panda getaway and they are pursued by the malicious Luc de Sac (Pere Ponce) and helped by Bruixa del Nord (Elsa Pataky) . Along the way , there are two little romances : Snowflake and the male gorilla kid at the menagerie and the other between the scientific's daughter and a schoolmate with a crush on her. Will Snowflake find the cure she's looking for, or realize that there's something more important than fitting in, being true to yourself?
The movie is an enjoyable animation film but it is developed in fits and starts ; mixing live-action humans and backgrounds with animals in 3D . The film is made in computer generator , CGI , along with actual actors , outstanding Pere Pone as well as Elsa Pataky , and in which the legendary Gorilla named Snowflake takes an unexpected turn when he escapes from Barcelona Zoo and joins a sympathetic and moaning red panda and venture into the dangerous city to find the witch at the circus who can help her become a "normal" gorilla . The CGI is nowhere near excellent but it wasn't too bad either as the spectator quickly gets used to it . There are several silly scenes and a lot of action as when the likeable Snowflake and the eccentric Red Panda are relentlessly chased by the nasty Per Ponce to make experiments . The live-action shows also sightseeing , famous buildings, monuments and streets from Barcelona . Production by Julio Fernandez, ruling of Filmax Productions and Fantastic Factory is fine . He has become one of the most important producers of the country . Actually, the position of his organization responds fully to the opportunities of the European and international markets in the leisure sector, emphasizing on the fantastic genre, through Fantastic Factory and animation with Filmax Animation, to the global market on home video, television and also theatrically . He has produced successful cartoon films as ¨El Raton Perez I and II¨ or "The Hairy Tooth Fairy", ¨Gisaku¨ , ¨El Cid : the legend¨ also directed by Jose Pozo and ¨Goomer¨, among others . The idea behind the escaped Snowflake is creative and partially well executed and drew a few chuckles and laughter . The picture was professionally directed by Andres Schaer , who has written and directed and as Second Unit Director or Assistant Director on various family movies . He is a good producer and director, known for his work on Morko y Mali (2016), Copito de Nieve (2011) , El arca (2007) , Deuda (2004) and El ratón Pérez 2 (2008).
The picture is based on Snowflake or Copito de Nieve that was captured in the Rio Muni region in Equatorial Guinea on 1 October 1966 by ethnic Fang farmer Benito Mañé. Mañé had killed the rest of Snowflake's gorilla group (who were normal in colour). Mañé then kept Snowflake at his home for four days before transporting him to Bata, where he was purchased by primatologist Jordi Sabater . Snowflake (Spanish: Copito de Nieve; 1964 - 2003) was an albino western lowland gorilla. He was kept at Barcelona Zoo in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain from 1966 until his death. Originally named "Nfumu Ngui" in Fang language ("white gorilla") by his captor, he was then nicknamed "Copito de nieve" by his keeper . Snowflake was a western lowland gorilla with non-syndromic oculocutaneous albinism. He had poor vision, though tests to determine whether he had a central blind spot did not find one.Barcelona Zoo director Antonio Jonch wrote: "The eye had a blueish sclera, a normal cornea, and a light blue iris which was very transparent to transillumination. Accommodation and refraction were normal. The media were transparent and the fundus of the eye normal and totally depigmented. The choroidal vessels were perfectly visible and the pupil was normal. The animal displayed marked photophobia which caused it to close its eyes repeatedly when exposed to bright light. In diffuse light similar to that in its biotope, we calculated that it blinked on an average of 20 times a minute."Study of Snowflake's genome determined that his parents had 12% of their DNA in common, leading researchers to believe that his parents were uncle and niece. The same study revealed that his albinism was caused by a mutation of a peculiar gene. Snowflake received the recessive gene from both parents, causing his albinism. Snowflake fathered twenty-two offspring by three different mates, or "dams". Six of his offspring survived to adulthood. None of Snowflake's offspring were albino, but all should be heterozygous, recessive carriers, for the albino gene. Half of his grandchildren likely carry the albino gene. If both parents were albino gene carriers they have 25% chance of producing an albino offspring. As of May 2014, Snowflake had a total of 21 grandchildren (11 survived) and four great-grandchildren (all living).Snowflake's great-grandson N'Kou has pink fingers which is perhaps suggestive of partial albinism. In 2001, Snowflake was diagnosed with an unusual form of skin cancer, almost certainly related to his albinism. By 2003, Snowflake's health began to deteriorate. After he began losing interest in his usual activities, isolating himself from other gorillas and exhibiting signs of pain, Snowflake's keepers decided to euthanize him.The decision was publicly announced in September 2003.Thousands of people visited Snowflake at the Barcelona Zoo before he was euthanized on 24 November 2003. At the time of his death, Snowflake was thought to be between 38 and 40 years old .

Cattle Empire (1958)
This stirring Western delivers drama , emotion , thrills , noisy action and lots of gutsy adventure
Acceptable western with good cast dealing with the Blazing Story of the Ranch Kings Who Drove New Roads of Empire Across the Untamed West . Concerning some cowboys fighting in hopes a better life , being run by Joel McCrea as John Cord , a trail boss who attempts to stifle conflicts , but encounter problems instead . The film provides interesting and attractive roles and as the opening credits states : The characters and events depicted in this photoplay are fictional , any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental. It is a medium budget movie with thrills , fractic action, shootouts , stampedes as well as fine players , nice production design and pleasing results. It is still a run-of-the-mill entry in Western genre, in which Joel McCrea leading cattle hoping in achieving fortune . Actually shot in Arizona with adequate interpretations and solid sets . Brawling , sprawling , almost primitive action in which our protagonist is forced to guide cattle across dangerous landscapes , teeming across the screen by means of cattle driving , attacks , gun-fire and ambushes . The picture contains whirlwinds of manic action , fights , sustained energy and often commendable results . Nice-looking but ordinary Twentieth Century Fox Western , including some novelties , but also with usual elements , such as drama , frenetic action, thrills , songs , crossfire , romance and some spectacular action scenes . Along with a love triangle in which implicates the marriage formed by Phyllis Coates/Don Haggerty and she is also in love for Joel McCrea , while a young girl , Gloria Talbott is for Joel McCrea , too . The plot is plain and simple , an evil, wealthy cattle owner wants to avoid the rival cattle arrives in Fort Clemson , as Joel McCrea tries to help a blind rancher and his wife save their cattle but they result to be chased and ambushed by the nasty competitor . A blending of functional main actors with great character players of whom Joel McCrea holds the best role as a brave cowboy leader with a sad past . A warm and thrilling storyline and thanks to personable drama , romance , Western action makes an enjoyable movie , a real pleasure to listen to as well as watch . This Western is a superior outing because it displays thrills , emotion , shoot'em up , cattle confrontation , riding pursuits and anything else . Interesing and moving screenplay by Eric Norden , Cahel Marquis Warren himself and Daniel B. Ullman based on his own story . The hothouse plot drives mercilessly forward with appropriate action , breathtaking shooting , thrills , impressive attacks , treason , rivalry , twists and turns . The tale is strong one and the yarn is wonderfully located against a colorful background from Arizona Natural Parks . Main starring , Joel McCrea , gives a good acting , as usual , as the ex-con serving a five year prison sentence who subsequently works as a trail boss being solicited by rival cattle barons to drive their respective cattle herds to Fort Clemson .He was a prolific actor in Western, his career is divided in movies directed by some great Western filmmakers . His wholesome good looks and quiet manner were soon in demand, primarily in romantic dramas and comedies, and he became an increasingly popular leading man. He hoped to concentrate on Westerns, but several years passed before he could convince the studio heads to cast him in one. When he proved successful in that genre, more and more Westerns came his way. But he continued to make a mark in other kinds of pictures, and proved himself particularly adept at the light comedy of Preston Sturges, for whom he made several films, especially the classy ¨Sullivan's travels¨ . By the late Forties, his concentration focused on Westerns, and he made few non-Westerns thereafter . As he played : Trooper Hook, The Oklahoman , The tall stranger , Rough Shoot , Wichita , Outriders , Colorado territory , Black Horse Canyon, Border River , Buffalo Bill , Virginian , South of St. Louis and many others . He was immensely popular in them, and most of them still hold up well today. Finally, his main testament, ¨Ride the high country¨ directed by Sam Peckinpah and along with Randolph Scott, whose career strongly resembles McCrea's, came out of retirement to make a classic of the genre . Support cast is pretty good with notorious secondaries as Don Haggerty , Gloria Talbott , Phyllis Coates , Bing Russell , Richard Shannon , Paul Brinegar , Charles Gray .
Atmospheric cinematography in a fading Technicolor by Brydon Baker , being necessary a perfect remastering . Shot on location in Alabama Hills, Lone Pine, California, Elfrida, Arizona, McNeal, Hereford, Double Adobe, Paul Spur, Pirtleville, Arizona . Evocative and thrilling musical score by Paul Sawtell who re-uses his theme music from The Cariboo Trail . Well produced by Robert Stabler, the motion picture was professionally directed by Charles Marquis Warren . Competently directed by Charles Marquis Warren who made a lot of low-budget movies , though he followed to work for Major productions , getting to make medium and big budget movies . Here filmmaker Charles Marquis Warren delivers a nice film , however he could be counted on to deliver solid "B" pictures which, at MGM , 2oth Century Fox and RKO , were often better than most other studios' "A" pictures . He directed in sure visual style and he made all kinds of genres, especially Westerns . As he wrote/produced and shot various Westerns , such as : Desert Hell, Blood Arrow , Tension at Table Rock, Day of the evil gun , Ride a Violent Mile , Copper Sky , Back from the Dead , Seven Angry Men , Arrowhead, Hellgate , Black whip , Little Big Horn and Charro starred by Elvis Presley.
Doctor Faustus (1967)
The known story of a scholar who sells his soul to the devil and very well played by Richard Burton
Here the most distinguished star of the screen at the time in a brilliant characterization as the legendary Faustus who sold his soul to Mephistopheles for a woman . The film's opening prologue states : "A tragic legend written down in the sixteenth century wherein a learned scientist honoured with the laurels of his university, sold his soul to the devil for still greater knowledge and power in the unknown". It deals with Faustus (Richard Burton , being his first, ending and only ever financed and directed) , a scientific at the University of Wittenberg where he earns his doctorate degree . His insatiable and stubborn appetite for knowledge and power using witchery leads him to conjure Mephistopheles out of inferno . As Faustus sells his soul to devil in exchange for youth and love of Helen of Troy (Elizabeth Taylor who shows up entirely painted in silver body-paint and having no lines of dialogue at all) and as Alexander's paramour . Faust signs the pact in his own blood and in writing , then Mephistopheles (Andreas Teuber) reveals the works of the devil to Faustus.
This classy story by Columbia Pictures concerns the scientist Faust who sells his soul to the devil in order to have a long life as well as the woman he loves . This is a stagy -but visually impressive- and stilted rendition , there outstanding the baroque settings by John DeCuir , the weird musical score by Mario Nascimbene and the colorful cinematography by Gábor Pogány . The movie is deemed to be an official shot record of a 1966 stage production of "Doctor Faustus" that Richard Burton had played in which had been staged and directed by Nevill Coghill with support players from the Oxford University Dramatic Society . Based on the play by playwright Christopher Marlowe who also wrote "Edward II" , "Jew of Malta" , and "Tamburlaine" . Starred by Andreas Teuber and by marriage Elizabeth Taylor/Richard Burton , though Actress Elizabeth Taylor's acting is completely mute , as her characterization being entirely silent . Being the sixth of eleven films that Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton performed in together , these are the following ones : Cleopatra , The Sandpiper , Anne of the thousand days , The Comedians , Boom , Under milk wood , and the latter of which was : Hammersmith is out . Richard Burton gives a nice acting as Faustus who employing necromancy bargains away his soul to Lucifer in exchange for living 24 years during which Mephistopheles will be his servant . Burton is magnificent , his performance swells to fit the screen and Elizabeth Taylor looking beautiful and desirable . See it for Burton's brilliant performance and Taylor's looks . Richard Burton was a notorious and prestigious actor with a long career until his early death at 58 . He starred a lot of of movies as in his native country , U.K. , as in the US ; as he played films in Hollywood : My cousin Rachel , The Robe , Alexander the Great , The rains of Ranchipur , Bitter victory , and he is back England where shoots Look Back in Anger , Hamlet , A midsummer night's dream . And superproductions as The Longest day , Cleopatra , VIPs , Zulu , When the eagles dare . And , subsequently , he plays all kinds of genres as drama , Spy , historical , Wartime , Thriller , such as : The night of the Iguana , Ice Palace , The spy who came in from the Cold , Staircase , The assassination of Trotsky , Massacre in Rome , The Klansman , Exorcist II : the heretic , Absolution , The Medusa Touch , Circle of two , Klansman , Tristan and Isolda and his last one : Nineteen Eight-Four . After the 1966 stage production of "Doctor Faustus", star Richard Burton did not show up on stage again for about a decade until he portrayed on Broadway a psychiatrist in Equus in which he followed playing the same character in the Equus (1977) film version directed by Sidney Lumet.
This Doctor Faustus was well produced by Richard McWhorter , being one of five collaborations of actor Richard Burton and producer Richard McWhorter, most of them were period costumer pictures . The films include Becket (1964), The taming of the shrewd (1967) , Anna of the thousand days (1969) and The spy who came in from the Cold (1965) .The film's co-writer and co-director Nevill Coghill was Merton Professor of English at Oxford University at the time that the film was developed , made and released . The picture was professional but strangely directed Richard Burton and Nevill Coghill , being he first, final and only ever cinema movie directed by both authors .

El juego del ahorcado (2008)
Sad and some depressing film about a crazy romance , including intense drama , strong love scenes , emotion and violence
The film starts in Gerona 1980 , there two kiddies called Sandra and David begin a long friendship out of the ordinary . Some years later , Gerona 1989 , sixteen-year-old Sandra (Clara Lago ) and eighten-year-old David (Alvaro Cervantes) go on being adolescent friends and companions of confidences and adventures since their infancy , in which the innocence and cruelty of the children years , happened long time ago , to follow an existence with violence , and brutallity of the adults . As in their adolescence taking place a passionate sentimental initiation altering the course of their student lives . But a terrible event takes place that will leave them marked forever . Finally , Sandra and Alvaro falling in love desperately and subsequently there occurs some missings and killings . Along the way and years , they maintain their love and secrets as authentic accomplices . Meanwhile , Sandra is trying to learn English along with her lovely teacher (Mary Murray) and attempts go to UK to finish her studies , and she , finally , goes Dublin . Shortly after, their lives push to cross the threshold of a dark secret , finding out the only thing that he has never told her.
Enjoyable but downbeat drama/thriller far from ordinary , concerning a sexual obsession in which a childhood couple and once have reached adolescence suffering twisted happenings , it seems logical that their friendship leads to a deeper relationship , but things go awry . It is plenty of moving drama , nudism , emotion , rough sex , thrills , mayhem and surprise ending . This ¨El Juego del Ahorcado¨ or ¨Hanged game¨ is Manuel Gomez Pereira's return to top form , with an intelligent and engaging script which uses moving situations to give us a good movie in a high suspense and complexity and that kept you entertained for the almost two hours of duration . Regarding the complex relationship of a couple through several years , as Sandra is seriously affected by an offense , as an unpredictable event cruelly hits each one separately , then , she will become a survivor and he , the protector of her life and secrets . Flawless story with a duo of handsome protagonists , one couple of very young actors . Interesting screenplay from prestigious Spanish screen-writers : Salvador García Ruiz and Manuel Gómez Pereira himself , based on a novel written by Imma Turbau . The flick develops a lot of steamy affairs between two main roles involved into an embarrassing and disconcerting relationship . Rightly agreeable , milestone drama/thriller which neatly combines nail-biting set pieces , love scenes , entertaining situations and tension . You can find a little flaws in the story lines , there are some left unexplained and others characters end up being implausible . Nice acting by Clara Lago as the innocent and good teenager , in spite of youthful , she parades sexily at her best and more relaxed and enticing than ever . However , Alvaro Cervantes gives a worse performance than her , playing a doubtful youngster who is obsessed for Sandra and for speed and motorcycles , too . Pay attention the very well played support cast , giving portentous interpretations , as usual . Including an acceptable plethora of secondaries , such as : Adriana Ugarte , Abel Folk , Victoria Page , Mary Murray and Cristina Brondo.
It was entertaining , but briefly depressing , great actors and a super soundtrack composed by Bingen Mendizabal . Bingen composes an excellent score in intriguing and suspenseful style . And adding the following songs : Born to be wild performed by Steppenwolf ; Soy como dos , Written by Álvaro Urquijo and Enrique Urquijo performed by Los Secretos ; A quién le importa Written by Carlos García Berlanga and Nacho Canut performed by Alaska y Dinarama and Desolado performed by Pastora . Furthermore , a colorful and evocative cinematography by Juan Amoros . The motion picture was well written and directed by Manuel Gomez Pereira . The movie had Goya Nominations , such as : Goya Awards 2009 Nomine Best New Actor : Álvaro Cervantes and Best Original Score : Bingen Mendizabal . Gómez Pereira usually writes his films and occasionally for other directors as "What Makes Women Laugh?" by Joaquin Oristell who in "Love Can Seriously Damage Your Health" is screenwriter and producer ; both of them are ordinary collaborators . Pereira is an expert on comedies as ¨¨Rose sauce¨, Why do they call it love when they mean sex ?¨, ¨Mouth to mouth¨ , "All Men Are the Same" , though he also has made some drama as ¨The hanged man¨ and this ¨Between your legs¨ . His latest projects, however, tanked as "Off Key" starred by an American-all star cast but was a failure both economically and artistically or simply didn't deliver as "Atrévete y Verás" . Nowadays , he directs TV chapters as ¨Gran Reserva¨ and ¨Cheers¨ series . Rating : 6/10 . Decent Spanish thriller , though a little sad for the successive distresses happen the protagonists . The picture will appeal to Clara Lago/Alvaro Cervantes fans .
Notable Western with Audie Murphy driving cattle throughout risked ways , large plentiful rivers and perilous mountains
This exciting Western packs thrills , noisy action , breathtaking struggles and lots of gutsy adventure . It deals with a gunslinger , Reb Kittridge (Audie Murphy) , who rides into town expecting to take a job , he gets it by supporting malicious land baron Matt Telford (Donald Randolph) as hired gun to get rid of upright owner Dan Saxon . At the beginning he is hired by the villains ; after a while , Reb wins Saxon's ranch with a cut of the cards . Later on , Kittridge turns to defend the rancher Saxon after learning the true situation . Then , Reb helps his buyer Saxon and while he fights off badman Telford and his hoodlums . He also has to find time in falling love with Saxon's gorgeous but independent daughter (Susan Cabot) . After that , Reb's best friend Johnny Lake (Charles Drake) arrives in town and he is contracted by malignant Telford to kill Kittridge . Finally , Telford and Johnny Lake attempt everything from wildfire , bushwhacking to setting up a stampede to stop Reb Kittridge . This gun was for hire and a woman was ready to pay his price '¡ . Hired Gunslinger In A Lawless Land!
Nice-looking but run-of-the-mill International Universal Picture Western , including some novelties , but also with usual elements , such as franctic action, thrills , stampedes , crossfire , drama , romance and some spectacular action scenes . Along with a love triangle in which implicates Audie Murphy/Reb Kittredge who falls with Susan Cabot/Rita Saxon who is also in love for Jack Kelly/Curly Mather . The plot is plain and simple, an evil, wealthy land owner wants to avoid the cattle arrives in Yellowstone , as Murphy tries to help a rancher and his daughter save their land and cattle but they result to be chased and ambushed by the nasty band . A blending of functional main actors with great character players of whom Audie Murphy holds the best role as a brave gunslinger . A warm and thrilling storyline and thanks to a personable and overwhelming action scenes makes an enjoyable movie , a real pleasure to listen to as well as watch . The hothouse plot drives mercilessly forward with frenetic action , breathtaking shooting , thrills , impressive attacks , treason , rivalry , twists and turns . The tale is strong one and the yarn is wonderfully located against a colorful background from Big Bear San Bernardino National Park , California . Well directed by Nathan Juran who made a lot of low-budget movies , though he followed to work for a big-budget cinema and was capable of making large-scale movies as ¨Tumbleweed¨ and this one ¨Gunsmoke¨in medium-budget and revolving around the first great drive to Yellowstone . Finely performed by Audie Murphy as a gunfighter who gets redemption guiding cattle to their destination and here director takes a fine penned script by D.D. Beauchamp based on the novel "Roughshod" by Norman A. Fox , creating an attractive tale that is far from ordinary , exploring the anguish and desperation of the valiant participants in a cattle drive and of the pursuers . Audie Murphy delivers a fine acting as a gunfighter who lands up with the job of getting a cattle herd . Murphy won more than 20 medals , being the most decorated American soldier , including the Congressional Medal of Honor and he was also awarded with five decorations conceded by France and Belgium country . He starred a rendition based on his own self-biography titled ¨To Hell and back¨ that was an acceptable picture based on actual events about Audie Murphy who played himself following his Army career in WWII , being professionally directed by Jesse Hibbs and it was a box-office hit for Universal Pictures and its record was apparently not broken until Jaws (1975 ). Murphy starred a great number of Westerns , such as : ¨The kid from Texas¨, ¨Cimarron Kid¨, ¨Gunpoint¨, ¨Night Passage¨, ¨The Gunrunners¨, ¨Posse from Hell¨, ¨Gunfight at Comanche¨, ¨Rifles Apaches¨, ¨The Unforgiven¨, ¨Red badge of courage¨, ¨Legend of Sam Ward¨, ¨Whispering Smith¨, ¨40 Guns at Apache pass¨ , ¨Texas kid¨ , among others . Being usually directed by Jesse Hibbs who made various Audie Murphy vehicles , such as : ¨To hell and Back¨ (1955) , ¨World in My Corner¨ (1956) , ¨Ride a Crooked Trail¨ (1958) , ¨Medal of Honor¨ and ¨To Hell and Back¨. Support cast is frankly nice , providing splendid interpretations , such as : Paul Kelly who manages that Murphy become owner of his ranch , but the has other reasons for deliberately losing the gamble , Charles Drake as his best friend and subsequent enemy , Jack Kelly , the beatiful Mary Castle , Donald Randolph , Jesse White , Chubby Johnson , William Fawcett and brief acting by Denver Pyle.
It contains shining and glittering cinematography in gleaming Technicolor by director of photography by Charles F. Boyle . And thrilling and atmospheric musical score by Universal regular : Herman Stein . Marvellously filmed on location in Big Bear Valley, San Bernardino National Forest, California , and Universal Studios , Universal City Plaza, Universal City, California . This classic as well as traditional movie was produced by Aaron Rosenberg from Universal Pictures and compellingly directed by Nathan Juran , containing some vigorous scenes . Juran was a good craftsman who made a lot of movies of all kinds of genres . Nathan Juran, who sometimes used pseudonym "Nathan Hertz" collaborated with Charles H. Schener in several films . Here Nathan directed it all in stylish Technicolor . Before entering the film industry as an art director in 1937 Nathan ¨Jerry¨Juran won an Academy Award for art direction on How Green Was My Valley (1941). World War II interrupted his film career, and he spent his war years with the OSS . Returning to Hollywood, he turned to directing films in the 1950s. He handled mostly low-budget westerns and sci-fi opuses, as ¨First man in the moon¨, ¨The brain from planet Arous¨, ¨The deadly Mantis¨ , ¨20 million miles to Earth¨ , ¨Jack the Giant Killer¨ , his most famous being ¨The attack of the 50 foot woman¨(1958) . In the early 1960s, he journeyed to Europe, where he spent several years piloting adventure epics and spaghetti westerns such as ¨Land raiders¨. Juran made sensational Sci-fi and fantastic movies , his main legacy , such us : ¨First men oh the moon¨, ¨The 7th voyage of Simbad¨ , ¨20 million miles to earth¨, ¨Jack the Giant Killer¨ and several others . Rating : 6.5/10, decent Western that will appeal to Audie Murphy fans .

He performs Chopin's Polonesas as a sign of rebellion against the 1956 invasion of Hungary and subsequently giving rise to a real revolution , that's why this concert has been chosen like slogan . Along the way Lenina is detained by the Communist authorities .
Good and thought-provoking drama , outstanding the action scenes , riots , shootings, pursuits and adding actual documentary footage compellingly assembled in the movie , including two reporters played by Calos Llovet and Jesus Colomer of the Attualita Italiana . It concerns the Budapest riots and subsequent repression that provokes the anger of the Hungarian people outbursting violent upheavals . Well set film during the communist repression in the Budapest streets , though being really shot in Bilbao and Barcelona . Decent main and support cast . Vicente Parra gives a so-so acting as Andras Pulac, a young pianist who refuses to perform a concert in honor of a senior Soviet leader . Maria Rosa Sagado is better as Maria Kondor, the daughter of a communist journalist , and she in love with Pulac . Support cast is pretty good , such as : Albert Hehn , Tomás Blanco , Luis Induni ,Arturo Fernández , Francisco Piquer , Margarita Lozano , Amparo Baro , Luis Orduña ,among others . Competently produced by Excisa SA and the powerful production company Suevia Films/Cesareo Gonzalez. It displays atmospheric cinematography in black and white by Joaquin Hualde, assisted by cameraman Juan Gelpi. The motion picture was well written/produced/directed by Antonio Isasi Isasmendi . This director was defending his name and career , but also his money in more ways than one , as he was one of the producers investing in the project . Antonio Isasi Isasmendi wa sa good professional , a craftsman who has directed several films in diverse genres , as adventures and action ,especially , such as The dog 1979 , 1968 Las Vegas, 500 millions , 1965 Estambul 65 and 1963 The mask of Scaramouche and Summertime killer 1972 .
This picture is well based on on historical facts , these are the following ones: The Hungarian Revolution of 1956 , or the Hungarian Uprising was a nationwide revolution against the Hungarian People's Republic and its Soviet-imposed policies, lasting from 23 October until 10 November 1956. Leaderless at the beginning, it was the first major threat to Soviet control since the Red Army drove Nazi Germany from its territory at the End of World War II in Europe. The revolt began as a student protest, which attracted thousands as they marched through central Budapest to the Hungarian Parliament building, calling out on the streets using a van with loudspeakers. A student delegation, entering the radio building to try to broadcast the students' demands, was detained. When the delegation's release was demanded by the protesters outside, they were fired upon from within the building by the State Security Police, known as the ÁVH (acronym for Államvédelmi Hatóság, literally "State Protection Authority"). One student died and was wrapped in a flag and held above the crowd. This was the start of the next phase of the revolution. As the news spread, disorder and violence erupted throughout the capital. The revolt spread quickly and the government collapsed. Thousands organised themselves into militias, battling the ÁVH and Soviet troops. During the revolt there were violent incidents, some local leaders and ÁVH members were lynched or captured, while former political prisoners were released and armed. Radical impromptu workers' councils wrested municipal control from the ruling Hungarian Working People's Party (Hu: Magyar Dolgozók Pártja) and demanded political change. The new government of Imre Nagy formally disbanded the ÁVH, declared its intention to withdraw from the Warsaw Pact and pledged to re-establish free elections. By the end of October, fighting had almost stopped, and the days of normality began to return.Initially appearing open to negotiating a withdrawal of Soviet forces, the Politburo changed its mind and moved to crush the revolution. On 4 November, a large Soviet force invaded Budapest and other regions of the country. The Hungarian resistance continued until 10 November. Over 2,500 Hungarians and 700 Soviet troops were killed in the conflict, and 200,000 Hungarians fled as refugees. Mass arrests and denunciations continued for months thereafter. By January 1957, the new Soviet-installed government had suppressed all public opposition. These Soviet actions, while strengthening control over the Eastern Bloc, alienated many Western Marxists, leading to splits and/or considerable losses of membership for communist parties in capitalist states.Public discussion about the revolution was suppressed in Hungary for more than 30 years. Since the thaw of the 1980s, it has been a subject of intense study and debate. At the inauguration of the Third Hungarian Republic in 1989, 23 October was declared a national holiday.
Death Wish (2018)
Thrilling and violent action movie in which Bruce Willis/Paul Kersey seeks vengeance when his family is attacked by some ruthless thieves
A cathartic revenge drama that delivers vicarious thrills for anyone who has ever felt outraged yet helpless about crime and disorder . A reboot from the successful crime thriller that created the Vigilante genre to deliver expeditive justice with Charles Bronson as the main star . An experienced trauma surgeon, a man who has spent his life saving lives called Paul Kersey (Bruce Wilis) -and who only sees the aftermath of his city's violence at his E.R.-, turns vigilante after an attack on his family and taking the law into his own hands as a judge , jury and executioner . This new entry with excessive violence concerns Paul Kersey , a middle-aged Chicago surgeon who becomes a vigilante . He lives in Chicago along with his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and daughter (Camilla Morrone) at a suburban mansion . Kersey turns the one-man vigilante rushed in extreme violence when his family is assaulted by a furious band formed by some ominous robbers, as his wife is attacked and college-age daughter reduced in living vegetable-alike . Then he embarks on his own mission for justice, stalking the slums of overloaded crimes , and taking the law into his own hands , searching vendetta on vicious murderers ,thieves , crooks , hoodlums , muggers , junkies , making the neighborhood safer and bumping off criminals , assailants and other street scum . Meanwhile , a couple of Chicago Police Inspectors (Dean Norris , Kimberly Elise) are investigating grisly killings . As the anonymous slayings of delinquents grabs the media's attention, the city wonders if this deadly revenger is a guardian angel...or a grim reaper . At the end , fury , retribution and fate collide between Kersey and his cruel enemies . They came for his family. Now he's coming for them. How Far Would You Go To Protect Your Family?.
This remake from the novel ¨Death wish¨written by Brian Garfield contains suspense , noisy action-packed , intrigue , thrills , shootouts , and loads of violence . Dealing with avenger Paul Kersey , burning for revenge, hunts for his family's assailants , as he decides to fight back against the rising tide of crime, one can't help but feel a sense of empowerment, making the film a whole lot of fun for armchair revengers , though, at times , it looks increasingly passsionless and mechanical . Outside of the moral questions that Death Wish throws up, the film packs a searingly brilliant turn from Bruce Willis as Kersey , he is a prestigious surgeon , while in Bronson version he was a N.Y architect , here Willis is a sedate hard working man reduced to being vigilante on account of a society that can't protect the honest . Some critics positively hate the picture , calling it irresponsible for advocating vigilantism , apparently it's a dirty picture calling on unlimited punishment to the criminals who stalk the cities across the globe . Bruce Willis with his usual stoic acting displays efficiently his weapon similar to ¨Charles Bronson's Death wish¨ and ¨Clint Eastwood's Harry the Dirty¨ and killing mercilessly nasties . It's certainly thrilling , though the morality may be questionable , even in this time, as the spectators were clearly on the Kersey-Willis' side . It is strangely compelling and taps into some fascist souls . Furthermore , here appears a nice secondary cast , such as : Elisabeth Shue , Camila Morrone , Dean Norris , Beau Knapp , Kimberly Elise , Kirby Bliss Blanton , and brief appearances from Len Cariou , Stephen McHattie , and Wendy Crewson as a pshichologist . It packs a screeching and thrilling musical score composed, orchestrated and performed by Ludwig Göransson . As well as atmospheric and evocative cinematography by Rogier Stoffers. The motion picture was professionally directed by Eli Roth , though with no originality . Roth is notorious actor/producer/writer/filmmaker , an expert on terror and violent movies who has directed the following one : Cabin Fever , Hostel 1 , Hostel 2 , Toc Toc and The Green Inferno.
The intense action-thriller novel written by Brian Garfield has got several renditions : the first , original and successful 1974 ¨Death Wish¨ by Michael Winner with Charles Bronson ,Hope Lange , Steven Keats , Jeff Goldblum, that's , of course , the best from the series that had various really violent sequels . This mid-70 film had great commercial hit , a box office success that producers attempted to repeat with he worst sequels in which Kersey goes on torturing robbers , all of them inferior and the violence could be deemed excessive, are sd follows : ¨Death wish II¨ by Michael Winner with Jill Ireland , Vincent Gardenia, Anthony Franciosa ; ¨Death wish III¨ by Winner with Ed Lauter , Martin Balsam and Deborah Raffin ; ¨Death Wish 4 : The crackdown¨(1987) with Kay Lenz directed by J.Lee Thompson and ¨Death Wish: The face of death¨(1994) with Leslie Anne Down directed by Allan Goldstein.
Diverting and fun Alfredo Landa comedy in which he gives a likable acting, as usual
Funny Landa comedy that results to be a typical comedy of the seventies. Amusing as well as nutty comedy with quite a few silly roles. Here Landa plays Ambrosio, a handy man whom the villagers rely him making their various works . He is married to Elvira, a very jealous wife : Esperanza Roy, both of them living wiith her mother : Mari Carmen Prendes. Then the village hall-town and the Mayor : Adrian Ortega, assign him to go Madrid to buy a bull for the local parties. As Ambrosio arrives in Madrid at a luxury 5 stars hotel where the "Spain Miss contest" is celebrating. And the pageant is presented by Kiko Ledgard and presided by a very famous jury formed by Concha Velasco, Francisco Rabal, Alfonso Paso, Carmen Sevilla and Lina Morgan.
A bemusing, crazy and absurd Spanish comedy with usual ingredients. It is a sex comedy in which stands out Alfredo Landa who in Madrid meets a Miss, Paca Gabaldon or Mary Francis, and appearing on TV national broadcasting, to be aware the villagers they believe he is a stud playboy , then all village women want to make love with him. I spite of be a sex comedy here there isn't nudism, however, other Mariano Ozores films with Pajares and Esteso are plenty of naked girls . In this movie we get to know a little bit about life of small villages, too. Ridiculous and embarrassing plot from Juan Jose Alonso Millan, Rafael Romero Marchent, Juan Jose Porto, and Ozores himself, being supported by a great main and support cast. Here shows up notorious secondaries as Antonio Ozores, Tomas Zori, Francisco Camoiras, Luis Morris, Eva Leon, Rafael Vaquero, Angel Menendez, Mari Carmen Prendes, Mary Francis, and Gracita Morales in his usual role as a maid, as well as Florinda Chico as a prostitute. As Alfredo Landa provides a sympathetic and outstanding performance as the hard-working Ambrosio who has always wishes to sleep due to his continuous and full-time jobs. Landa was one of the most prolific Spanish actors with more than 100 fims generally playing sexually repressed roles and usually directed by Ramon Fernandez, Fernando Merino, Pedro Lazaga, Luis Maria Delgado, and Mariano Ozores. Being most of them fun comedies, and as Landa even created a subgenre : Landismo, dealing regularly with an a repressed man obsessed with sex. These Landa comedies include Manolo La Nuit, Vente a Alemania Pepe, Un Rolls para Hipolito, Profesor Eroticus, Polvos magicos, Paco el seguro, Celedonio y yo somos asi, El apolitico, Los que tocan el piano, Solo ante el Streaking, among others. In the 80s he started playing dramatic and serious roles as Los Santos Inocentes, prize in Cannes for Francisco Rabal and Alfredo Landa. He won two Goya Awards playing El Bosque animado y La Marrana. And other important films as Bandera negra, Marcelino Pan y Vino, Sinatra and Don Quijote TV series . And especially movies directed by Jose Luis Garci, his fetish actor, such as Crack I, II , Las verdes praderas, Tiovivo 1950, and Story of a kiss.
The motion picture produced by Luis Sanz was middlingly directed by prolific filmmaker Mariano Ozores. He has written and directed about 200 films and TV series, mostly comedies, such as Operacion Matahari, La descarriada, Los autonomicos, Celedonio y yo somos asi, and especially successful were those starred by Fernando Esteso and Andres Pajares as Al Este del Oeste, El currante, Los Energeticos, El erotico enmascarado, El hijo del cura, Los liantes, Yo hice a Roque III, Los Bingueros, Los Chulos, Brujas magicas, Lola los lleva al huerto, Agitese antes de usarla . And even he directed a Scifi : La hora incognita that failed really at boxoffice .
Slow-moving and badly edited biography with luxurious sets and gorgeous cinematography by Luis Cuadrado
The film is a touching drama adding historical events that inspired his work and packing an enjoyable photography as well as brilliant settings shot on authentic locations . Here Goya relives key momentos in his life as his relation to the known Duchess . Being shown with a pervasive melancholy that does for slow drama . It deals particularly with Goya , Francisco Rabal, and his relationship with Duchess of Alba, the gorgeous Irina Demick . There are some historic remarks , appearing Manuel Godoy , King's scheming favorite : Ricardo Merino , and King Carlos IV and his wife María Luisa . And of course , French encroachment , the charge of Mamelucos , Los Fusilamientos Principe Pio , immortalized by Goya paintings . With France invasion takes over Spain Pepe Botella , or José Bonaparte , Napoleon's brother . Later on , there takes place the French defeat and restoration of the Spanish monarchy with Fernando VII after the victory by General Wellington and General Castaños . Then Fernando VII is back Spain , but he abolished Cadiz Constitution , which was established by Napoleon authorities . In 1820 happens a riot in Cabezas de San Juan by General Riego and succeeded the Constitutional triennium 1820 -1823 , but after Riego is taken prisoner and executed by hanging , returning King's authoritarism . As Goya observes events , wars , parties , dances , social habits and he sees and he paints it . As he creates Los Caprichos , Los desastres de guerra , The trials of Inquisition , The black paintings , and , of course , The Dressed Maja and The Naked Maja , and many others . As Goya becomes involved with kings, aristocracy , and villagers, being subsequently accused as an "Afrancesado" and he , finally , flees banished to France , in Burdeos .
This is a lush costumer based on actual events , but predominates love stories and slow-moving melodrama. The picture relies heavily on the lovely relation between Goya and Duchess of Alba .The sets are evocative , the gowns are extravagantly adequate and paintings pass by in front of your eyes , and atmospheric ,though theatrical , at times , production design. There are various Flasbacks and some dream images with no much sense . As well as some briefly erotic frames as Irene Demick is on the beach. It is an easy and sad vision of Saragossan painter, as he watches the citizens upheaval against Napoleon troops , as Goya designs his known engravings describing the war horror .The motion picture glamorously and sumptuously photographed , was regularly directed by Nino Quevedo.
Others films concerning this historial painter are the following ones : 1958 The Naked Maja by Henry Koster with Tony Franciosa , Ava Gardner, Amadeo Nazzari . Los Desastres de la Guerra series 1983 by Mario Camus with Francisco Rabal and Sancho Gracia as Juan Martin el Empecinado . Tv series by José Ramon Larraz with Enric Majo as Goya and Laura Morante as Duchess Alba . Goya in Bordeaux 1999 by Carlos Saura with Francisco Rabal again and Maribel Verdu as Duchess of Alba that is an extremely Theatrical vision of the exiled painter .
Hawk the Slayer (1980)
Sword and Witchery film about the violent war between two brothers for possession of a magic and powerful sword
Mediaval romp about two brothers locked in deadly combat till the end of time . This is an atmospheric sliced chunk of swords , fights , sandals and witchery . It is set in a strange land of swirling fog , somewhere in the mists of time , there a misfit crew of rebels rides through orange-skied outdoors . There a good warrior , Hawk the Slayer (John Terry) , struggles against his malevolant brother (Jack Palance) , to possess a magic sword with incredible powers . After seeing both , his dad (Ferdy Mayne) and sweetheart (Catriona McColl) die at the hands of his ruthless sibling Voltan, then Hawk the Slayer sets out in pursuit him and the chance to live up to his title . As Hawk leads the battle against Voltan to free the land from the forces of evil and avenge his loved ones . The group is formed by an elf , a giant , a dwarf , an one-armed man with a machine-crossbow (Bernard Brasslaw) and a witch (Patricia Quinn) , who can turn an useful trick or to , all of them attempt to bring peace and order. These peculiar weird crew of reservists rides at the shoulder of the heroic warrior Hawk the Slayer . This valiant hero wielding a "mind-sword" has great opponents , the first : the big Brother , Jack Palance, along with his bunch of minions and guards under his stiff command. The object of the motley team , kill each other . As an Abbess (Annette Crosbie) is kidnapped and the brave outfit has to free her .
This is a comic-book fantasy with thrills , fierce fights , noisy action and necromancy .There is a vein of satire to all this and and references to legions of darkness . It is full of cardboard castles , painted backdrops , matte-painting , sorcery , and gauze-infested woods . It is all so incredibly tacky that it almost works . Here Palance makes a great villain , he steals the show , though giving overacting . A varied cast , it stars John Terry as Hawk the Slayer , tooling himself up with the magic sword and he sets out for vendetta , recruiting a motley band of warriors formed by an Elf interpreted by Ray Charleson , a dwarf played by Peter Farrell , a giant acted by Bernard Bresslaw , along with an Abbess perfomed by Annette Crosbie , and a nun performed by Cheryl Campbell , the wonder of it is that this cast can deliver their lines without cracking up , though packing unbelievably some anticlimatic , inappropriate and ridiculous scenes . And a notorious support cast formed by prestigious secondaries making brief appearances as Harry Andrews , Derrick O'Connor , Warren Clarke , Patrick McGee , Peter Benson , Roy Kinnear, Barry Stokes , Ferdy Mayne , Shane Briant and Graham Stark.
It delivers an unusual and inadequate musical score by synthesizer composed by Harry Robertson who also wrote and produced. Being well photographed in wonderful outdoors by Paul Beeson , Disney usual . Being shot on location in Buckinghamshire , Black Park , Mansfield , England and Pinewood Studios .The motion picture was original but regularly directed by Terry Marcel , a craftsman who has made some decent films such as : ¨Prisoner of the Lost Universe¨ , ¨Jane and the Lost City¨ , ¨The Last Seduction II¨ and several TV episodes of series as ¨Heartbeat¨ , ¨Trainer¨ ,¨Dark Night¨ , ¨Robin Hood¨ , among others .Rating 5.5/10 . Passable and acceptable in spite of some very silly scenes .
Nice third installment with epic moments , noisy action , thrills , and overwhelming battles
This War of the Planet of Apes is an intense and exciting film with great visual effects by means of Motion Capture technology . The picture delivers enough energy and turns out to be an impressive flick full of fighting, action , battles and suspense . An acceptable Ape movie with huge production design in which the performers are very fine , and special mention for Andy Serkis who provides the sturdy central pivot the tale surely needs . There concerns Caesar (masterfullly incarnated by Andy Serkis, Gollum alter-ego) , a chimpanzee who gained human-like intelligence and emotions from an experimental drug that rose to a super-intelligent chimp who leads an ape upheaval . As Caesar and his apes : gorilla , chimpanzee and orangutan , are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel . Along the way the apes suffer unimaginable losses and Caesar (Andy Serkis), a Chimpanzee raised like a child by the drug's creator (first outing with Will Rodman: James Franco) . Here Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and starts his own mythic quest to avenge his kind that is being submitted in slavery and apartheid . Later on , Caesar is locked and seeking justice for his fellow primates , as they carry out a riot in which simians turn the tables . As simians , Chimpanzees , gorillas uprising violently every human in sight . As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel (Woody Harrelson) are pitted against each other in an impressive battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
This awesome film is a brilliant and intelligent sequel that contains fights , thrills , frenetic action , go riding , violence , breathtaking scenes and a strong denounce about animal mistreat . Dramatic as well as spectacular film in which simians undergo a rebellion against humans and winding up at a climatic final . Recent sequel in the series based on Pierre Boulle novel initiated by the mythical film ¨Planet of Apes¨ (1968) by Franklyn J. Schaffner that at time of its release regarded as the most extraordinary Scifi in years . It deals with a Chimpanzee hero called Caesar well played by Andy Serkis , this is the third film in which Andy Serkis plays an ape, having previously portrayed 2005's version of King Kong and he was also the motion capture actor for Gollum in Lord of the Rings . Highlights of the movie are the spectacular ending scenes when happens a fierce confrontation between a human army and the simians commanded by Caesar . As Caesar leads an animal revolt against his human captors and mankind in which humans battle the apes led by the intelligent ape . The flick plenty of metaphysical significance with thoughtful reflexion about vengeance , apartheid , upon origin of human being , racism , and mistreating ; though also packs action , adventures , intrigue and entertainment . Being mostly a decent follow-up of the former stories , with big moments of energy remaining throughout and it results to be , particularly , a breathtaking Sci-Fi movie full of frantic action , battles, suspense and top-notch FX by Oscarized team who made Avatar and Lord of the Rins . The performers , particularly Andy Serks and Woody Harrelson are pretty good , the characters are well drawn and in spite of excessive computer generator frames all of them are still oddly convincing . Although several elements of the screenplay strain credibility to the limit the story turns out to be pretty interesting and amusing . This film is considered to be the third live action film to have its main hero as a thoughtful, feeling , self aware animal . Andy Serkis's distinctive features prove to be recognisable even under ¨Motion Capture¨ FX images . One of the first feature films to use motion-capture in a so-called 'on location' setting , formerly , motion-capture was limited to special studio set up with special ¨motion-capture¨ cameras in very clearly defined surroundings . Similar the previous films, this is an Apes movie to have CGI apes and with arm extensions . Remaining cast formed by Gorilla , Chimpanzees , Orangutans and other apes are nice , in spite of overlong scenes in Motion Capture they are still nicely and compellingly made . Writing credits by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver , along with Mark Bomback and Matt Reeves himself , their screenplay is just clever and including interesting issues about human being and animals . One of the important attributes of this work, is the magnificent and luminous cinematography by Michael Seresin . Epic as well as emotive musical score by Michael Giacchino , it's full of fury and sound . Motion picture was well directed by Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes , Let me in , Cloverfield)
Other adaptations based on the characters created by Pierre Boulle are as follows : The original and the best is ¨Planet of Apes¨ by Franklyn J. Schaffner with Charlton Heston , Roddy MacDowall, Kim Hunter , followed by "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" (1970) with James Franciscus , Linda Harrison , Maurice Evans ; it's followed by three inferior sequels : Escape from the planet of apes , Conquest for battle of Apes and Battle for Planet of Apes. A reboot Planet of Apes 2011 by Tim Burton . And new remakes : Rise of the planet of Apes 2011, and Dawn of the Planet of Apes (2014) .
Phantom of the Opera (1943)
Hollywood and high-budgeted version of Gaston Leroux's lurid tale about the disfigured mask-wearing opera lover
Second Hollywood recounting following the most considered 1925 original and silent rendition , being remade by the same studio . Yet another version of the Phantom by Gaston Leroux , being a good gothic melodrama about the musician (Claude Rains, the man behind the mask and mysterious benefactor) who lurks in the depths of the Paris Opera House , at the sewers , and his desires for a lovely young singer (Susanna Foster) who even does not even know he exists . There's also the wimpy fiancé (Nelson Eddy) to come between them . The disfigured phantom is jealous and decides to abduct the gorgeous young singer and jail her in his lair.! It will live in your memory forever! . The Picture That has Everything! Romance !...in the shadow of sinister suspense! Music! that mounts to thrilling rapture! Suspense!...opera with death at every performance! A cast of thousands! The screen's classic of terror!
This terror film illustrates segments of the well- known story about a phantom who haunts the secret Opera corridors by staging sets , sumptuous production design , splendid atmosphere and drama to go along with the Opera soundtrack . It concerns a deformed mature man living in the sewers underneath of the Paris Opera House , while he falls in love for an Opera singer, sacrificing himself for the beautiful girl ; but it suffers by dispersing the creepy and chilling scenes with too many Opera and various songs , as well as weak comedy . It's an elaborated version in flaming Technicolor , but also plodding and with only occasional moments of terror , including clever musical stage involving the classic story . Overabundance of singing hurts this otherwise good remake of Phantom of Opera , it remains partially enjoyable , though dated , no fresh . Production values is high with overwhelming sets and colorful cinematography by Hal Mohr and W. Howard Greene . The stunning Technicolor Photography won an Oscar , as did the breathtaking art direction from John Goodman and Alexander Golitzen . The film packs excessive operetta in some reels , but also some bravura moments . As opulent pageant , it works although there is no emotional center , leaving the spectator aloof from its leading characters . Acting is great , strong , though brief presence by Claude Rains who brings stunningly to life the disfigured mature man with scarred countenance . Claude Rains takes his turn as the masked master of music and murder , he delivers a model of restraint . This was one of great actor's most memorable hours , along with ¨The Invisible Man¨ by James Whale . As Claude Rains took the title role and obtained another triumph , including eerie frames when the face beneath the mask was finally revealed to the horror of the heroine . Co-starring Susanna Foster is charming , she parades and sings well enough along with Nelson Eddy . And other notorious supporting actors appearing as Edgar Berrier , J. Edward Bromberg , Leo Carrillo , Frank Puglia , Miles Mander , and Hume Cronyn is briefly seen in this horror vintage .
Despite some critics' cynical reservations about this reboot , this was an enormous moneyspinner for Universal Films , a production company especialized on terror movies . Thanks to to Claude Rains' nice interpretation , and the spectacular settings that are painstakingly and opulently stylish, it achieved hit in box-office , in spite of its nine million dollar budget , a huge outlay for the Studio at the time . The motion picture was deftly rendered by Henry Levin with grateful direction by way of some fine performances and a lot of songs , especially by duo protagonist .
The timeless Gaston Leroux novel has been smashing success in every form in which it has been presented as stage as cinema . The first and still most famous adaptation is the Classic silent rendition by Robert Julian (1925) with Lon Chaney , ¨The Man of a thousand faces¨ , and Mary Philbin . 1962 version from Hammer Films directed by Terence Fisher with Herbert Lom , Edward De Souza , Heather Sears . 1974 Phantom of Paradise by Brian De Palma with Paul Williams , Jessica Harper , William Finlay .1999 by Dwight H. Little with Robert Englund , Jill Schoelen , Alex Hyde-Wyatt , Bill Nighy . 1999 TV series , made for television originally shown in 2 parts by Tony Richardson with Charles Dance , Teri Polo and Burt Lancaster . 1999 by Dario Argento with Asia Argento , Julian Sands , Andrea Di Stefano . And especially the blockbuster musical retelling by Joel Schumacher , a lavish adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's stage musical , being exuberant and stylishly staged with Gerard Butler , Emmy Rossum, Minnie Driver , among others .
