The Purge: Election Year (2016)
much of the same but worth a watch...
having enjoyed the two predecessors, i was looking forward to it in the hope it would rekindle the series however there was still a very linear plot and little character development.
To be fair, if you take it for what it is, the purge election year is entertaining with some twists and suspense but i cant help feel a lost opportunity to do something original. there was a lack of explanation for some points like in the triage camp but in general if you ignore the political undertones and harsh reviews it is still a decent film.
hopefully if and when the purge 4 is released the producers can focus on a different aspect of the night perhaps continuing from election year but in a flashback to the first night it was introduced.
In short, if you enjoyed the original film then ignore the reviews and do not think too much into the subtext and simply enjoy it as a thriller.
The Inbetweeners (2012)
This is a poor excuse for a show, ripping off the successful UK series with a lack lustre and dismal attempt at humour whilst trying to emulate the popularity of the UK/US office.
the characters, although sharing the same lines, have none of the character and connection to the audience of the UK version and in its place is a crude and unfunny form of 'humour'. I have found that US comedies targeted to this audience are better off sticking to the American Pie/super bad style rather than a more sarcastic and witty UK style and the two should be separated distinctly.
In summary, don't waste your time watching this show as there are far better US alternatives for this genre like awkward or the hard times of RJ Berger for example.
