New World Pictures Dub VS. Disney dub
1 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In the far future, a thousand years after a nuclear war left the Earth as a nuclear holocaust. The Valley of the Wind, a small kingdom ruled by King Jil struggles for survival as the community tries to defend the Valley from gigantic Ohm creatures and toxic plants that live beyond the Valley in the Sea of Decay, while Jil's daughter and heiress to the throne, Princess Nausicaä tries to understand and feels it is wrong to destroy the toxic jungle. The Valley is attacked by the Tolmekian people who plan to destroy the Sea of Decay by using the greatest warriors that started the holocaust. After Nausicaä is taken prisoner, Nausicaä escapes and goes beneath the Sea of Decay where she discovers the toxic plants are not poisoning the air, and are purifying the world by draining the air of radiation and toxins. With everything at stake, Nausicaä unites with the Ohms and set out to the Valley and foil the Tolmekians plan of unleashing the Great Warrior which will start another holocaust.

There are two versions of the movie one which was by New World pictures and another one by Disney.

While the old dub was hard to find and it probably wasn't worth me watch but i decided to check it out to peep my curiosity. The Warriors of the wind version was not good one bit. The movie was cute which made certain scenes either confusing or made my eyes role. The poster was completely changed from the original and to put the icing on top the dub was rushed with not even a single voice actor having a clue about what they are doing. Also to correct an idiot who wrote a review around 1998, Disney were not responsible for the dub.

The second dub on the other hand was more faithful with zero cuts and more fitting voice.

So if you are going to watch this movie dubbed, the Disney dub is the way to go and it is available on Netflix.

With that aside, for Miyazaki's first movie it was really good, with beautiful visuals and a thrilling plot.

Spirited Away (2001)

A childhood classic
30 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Chihiro and her parents are moving to a small Japanese town in the countryside, much to Chihiro's dismay. On the way to their new home, Chihiro's father makes a wrong turn and drives down a lonely one-lane road which dead-ends in front of a tunnel. Her parents decide to stop the car and explore the area. They go through the tunnel and find an abandoned amusement park on the other side, with its own little town. When her parents see a restaurant with great-smelling food but no staff, they decide to eat and pay later. However, Chihiro refuses to eat and decides to explore the theme park a bit more. She meets a boy named Haku who tells her that Chihiro and her parents are in danger, and they must leave immediately. She runs to the restaurant and finds that her parents have turned into pigs. In addition, the theme park turns out to be a town inhabited by demons, spirits, and evil gods. At the center of the town is a bathhouse where these creatures go to relax. The owner of the bathhouse is the evil witch Yubaba, who is intent on keeping all trespassers as captive workers, including Chihiro. Chihiro must rely on Haku to save her parents in hopes of returning to their world.

I watched this film twice once when I was 11 and just recently on netflix and what can i say it was a ride of fun.

The characters are likeable, the visuals were good too.

Overall it is a good movie recommended to both kids and adults.

Melody of Oblivion (2004– )
6/10
Okay, despite forced fan server
29 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I ended up watching this out of nowhere in the qurinteen period because why not.

The show is about some plain ordinary kid called Bocca who becomes a Meros warrior and travels around to fight the monster union. I admit while the series has good idea, it ends up getting flatten by poor writing, scenes that are pure cringe or don't make any chance or just terrible dialogue. For instance in one episode we go to this town our protagonist with his companion stay at this hotel, at one point we learn that children are being kidnap and then in another scene we see these ugly looking folks enter a bathhouse with everyone behaving like robots.

Animation wise it wasn't that good either, even though The Melody of oblivion was a very beautiful looking girl. And with the fan server (even Ted Sroka agreed with me on this) coming out of no where it made it look worse.

On that brightside the dub was very good by Geneon Entertainment which I can applaud and I thought the series was a fun adventure too.

My official rating for this anime is 6/10

Miyazaki's beauty
27 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Synopsis This film is set in a Victorian era that might have been, influenced by the visions of writers such as Jules Verne. As Pazu, the apprentice of the engineer who maintains a mine's elevator machinery, carries his boss's dinner back to the mine, an unconscious pigtailed girl floats down from the sky into his arms. This girl, Sheeta, and her magical levitation-stone pendant hold the key to a mysterious, mythical sky-castle known as Laputa. Sheeta and Pazu must flee from both air-pirates, who seek the sky kingdom for its legendary treasure, and the army, led by a government agent with his own mysterious agenda for Laputa.

The film has really good visual with a plot which would make you go "wow". You don't even have to be an anime fan to enjoy this but can still respect the art of this movie.

The cast was also pretty good, I watched the Disney dub, please don't listen to anyone who says that the dub is bad or the old dub is better because they are wrong. While James Van Der Beek sounded a bit old as Pazu i still enjoyed his performance, Anna Paquin also did well as Sheeta. Other voice actors including Cloris Leachman, Mark Hamil, Richard Dysart, Jim Cummings, John Hostetter, Mandy Patinkin, Michael McShane and Andy Dick were all phenomenal in this movie.

Recommended to all ages.

A 3 segmented mini movie
27 March 2020
This movie consistices of 3 segments

The first short is about a brother and a sister who go fishing and they encounter so big large fish. The second segment is about a kid called shun who is allergic to eggs. The third segment is about a guy who is always invisible for some reason.

I personally find it a good watch on Netflix especially if you are looking for something which is short.

Levius (2019– )

Surprisingly good
20 March 2020
Plot

A young man whose parents became casualties of war. He is taken in by his uncle Zack, and it is there that Levius begins to immerse himself in the world of metal boxing as if led by fate itself, and his innate ability for the martial art blossoms.

While I admit, I was originally put off because I didn't think the CGI looked very appling but then when I watched it I was surprised and I actually got used to it.

the dub was also decent for what it's worth.

If you like anime's which feature boxing, you might enjoy this.

Fruits Basket (2019– )
10/10
Loving this remake so far
20 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Fruits Basket is an anime which is based off the manga of Fruits Basket and is a reboot from the original series.

For those who are wondering, you don't have to watch the reboot to understand this series, this series is pretty much a fresh new take on the franchise which fans have been demanding for years. However, the original is still a good watch IMO and I even consider it a classic, I also did a review on it last year if you want to check that out.

The plot is as follows:

After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, 16 year old high schooler Tohru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out...into a tent. Unfortunately for her, she pitches her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Souma clan, and it isn't long before the owners discover her secret. But, as Tohru quickly finds out when the family offers to take her in, the Soumas have a secret of their own--when hugged by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac.

Truly, i love this series, it's just as emotional, just as funny and just as good as the original series was, and even better.

The music is really good, even though i miss Meredith McCoy and Laura Bailey's soundtracks to the original series. But music is really good regardless of intro or end credits. Heck even background music works in each scene, without going over top or inappropriate at wrong scenes.

Despite the Funimation controversy, I truly love the dub, it was nice that they got everyone back, heck even Laura Bailey. Even if some of the replacements were either hit miss or a couple of them should have been recasted in the reboot (Kisa Sohma) but I still love the dub and it is Funimation's best one in years.

Animation as well is a huge improvement over the original but I suppose as time moves on, anime does advance even if sometimes this isn't the case.

My though on this reboot overall is excellent, especially if you are a fan of the manga and the original series. Can't wait for season 2.

August Rush (2007)

A very heartwarming movie
9 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A young boy called Even Taylor was sent away in an orphanage as a really young without ever meeting his father or his mother. The boy grew up and has this ability to make any form of music just by the sounds of his surroundings. One day he leaves the orphanage and meets this strange looking who takes him in to use him for his talent. Until Even realises that there is a bigger world out there for his talent.

The acting for this film was very good but the top performers for this movie have to be Freddie Highmore as Even Taylor/August Beach he really knocked it out of the park with his acting and it's probably his best child roll. Also the late Robin Williams as Wizard.

The music in the movie was well performed as well.

If you want to have a good family friendly movie which is a magical story though it does have a bit of mild language but nothing major, but is 90% for both kids and adults i highly recommend this.

Doraemon (2005– )
8/10
Good for the next gen of Doraemon fans
8 March 2020
Doraemon is a series which has been in japan since like the 60's or 70's and has many failed attempts to localise in the west. I have watched the English dub by Bang Zoom Entertainment and the hindi dub in india.

I will be reviewing the dub by Bang Zoom Entertainment hence why I will be using their localised names instead of their japanese ones

The anime is about a robot cat from the future that has came to take care of Noby so he makes better decisions in future as his future is bad and he is here to fix it. In each episode Noby demands something, Doraemon gives him a interesting gadget which he later gets himself into trouble with, then Doraemon needs to save. Noby also goes on various fun adventures with his 3 friends the rich square head Sneech, big bully Big G and the nice and adorable Sue.

Even there are changes due to audience and culture adaptation with a few edits of course. The dub is pretty good. The voice actors including Mona Marshall, Johnny Yong Bosch, Cassandra Lee Morris, Spike Spencer, Kaiji Tang, Keith Silverstein, Brian Beacock and everyone else fit their roles perfect.

My overall verdict the dub might not be perfect but vocally it's pretty and i honestly, hope it continues someday.

Not really a good sequel
8 March 2020
While I admit I don't fully remember the original film much but this sequel seems pretty poor. There are new characters which have little to no development and we don't exactly know who they are. Also it makes zero sense for them to kiddy down the film.

Pacific Rim (2013)
7/10
Transformers VS. Godzilla
8 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the mind meld idea of the 2 pilots, and I thought they covered most bases explaining the technology behind the enormous robots (Jaegers) pretty well. It does have a few technical plot holes here and there, but the film does have a 'let's just get on with it' kind of feel. The alien creatures (Kaiju) are great and the robot v monster battles are superb. Towards the end the pace picks right up and the story starts to fall apart a bit, but by that point who cares? In general Pacific Rim is a fast paced, slick looking piece of techno-action that most Sci-Fi fans will enjoy. It's big, loud, dumb and very pretty, largely due to Guillermo Del Toro being at the helm.

The movie does have cool fight scenes and pretty cool music which is always a plus.

Pretty hilarious with the hindi commentary
8 March 2020
I have saw this show on cartoon network in india whenever I have visited my relatives. I actully thought this was going to be stupid and even looked like a tom and jerry ripoff from first sight but it was actually pretty funny.

Most of the episodes are about Oggy trying something then later getting ruined by the three cockroaches. Occasionally we see his brother and sometimes that fat angry dog known as Bob.

My only complaint even though the show is good it does have bad episodes and Cartoon Network air it non stop so therefore I do believe it should still air but not 24/7.

Now this is a good live action adaption of an anime
7 March 2020
While, I admit I have never watched the original anime for Alita Battle Angels or even a fan of live action adaptations of anime but this was pretty good.

The effects were cool.

The acting was good.

The choreography was decent.

The camera angels were pretty cool.

The story was good too.

If you want a better example of a live action adaptation of anime then I would say this movie is one.

a midcore adaption
7 March 2020
I am going to be honest, I rarely watch live action adaptations of anime because of either how cheesy they are or how they can ruin a really good anime. But i was in india with nothing to do but stay in a room and watch netflix so out of random curiosity.

I found this adaption pretty midcore to be honest, especially since it was missing a lot from the manga and the brotherhood.

I will give it some good points on acting and the fact they brought Vic Mignogna, Aaron Dismuke and Caitlin Glass back but not anyone else for some reason.

Also the effects were either, weird, fake looking or cheesy.

Overall verdict. Stick to the Manga and both animes.

Highlander

Warning: Spoilers
The lone warrior Colin travels with the wise-cracking ghost Amergan through the ages searching for the immortal despot Marcus Octavius, who killed his lover on the Celtic plains tens of centuries ago. On his quest, he discovers New York is submerged, and one dominant monolith fortress towers over the seas. Colin can save the survivors, but his sword only hungers for the blood of one man. Despite many lifetimes of training, Colin has failed to vanquish Marcus on the great battlefields of history. Can he finish what he started and stop Marcus? Will Colin lead the people to freedom or become consumed by hate? There can be only one.

The movie in general I found pretty enjoyable. It also had a very good dub, with both american and canadian voice actors involved plus seeing Nolan North in an anime dub was a real treat.

25 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Seven high school students that got caught in an airplane accident wake up, in a middle age like fantasy different world where magic and beast-man (juujin) exist - but they do not panic at their current situation. They build a nuclear plant in a world without electricity, they control the economy of a large city in a short work's trip, and finally for their benefactor's sake who are suffering from the misgoverment, they declare war on the evil nobles. So, none of them is a normal high school student, each of them are super human high school students that stand at the top of politics, economics, science and medicine. This is a story of a dream team that possess earth's greatest wisdom and technology, that without any self-restraining bring a revolution to a different world with over-technology.

In my opinion while it is not the best Isekai anime it is definitely not the worst either, sure it's villains may have been a bit generic and it can get predictable but i still liked it.

captain america + Isekai = The Rising of the shield
24 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Well I have been trying to watch this anime for almost a year and now I have finished it.

Four people have been chosen by King Aultcray Melromarc oh i mean trash to being the four cardinal hero. Those are the spear, the sword, the bow and finally the shield hero. These heroes must create parties and work together to fight off the waves. Melty/Mynee of i am sorry I meant b****h/hore joins the shield heroes party, then the next night he is framed for by this thot of rape and for some reason the so called king and the other hero aren't listening to him and he decides to become a vigilante. Will the shield hero clear his name?

As far as going for story it was pretty good and it sure as hell had a few life lessons to pick up. My only complaint would have been is that I found the other three heroes useless asf in the last fight. Plus they were portrayed as either careless or disgusting people.

The fight scenes were also cool, the anime's premises is similar to SAO's. Only slightly better.

I found this anime a very fun ride overall and I can't wait for season 2 and 3.

A very emotional anime
14 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I admit, I have been planning to watch this for a really long and i even kept on promising my good friend and the voice of Violet Evergarden (Erika Harlacher) that I will watch this someday well now I have and hear to review.

Violet was an orphan who was left on the side of a road, but was taken in by a military soldier Gilbert. After the war ended Violet was found in a hospital and was taken by Claudia a president of CH Postal Company and trained Violet to being an Auto Memories Doll.

In each episode she travels to client regardless of where they are or how dangerous the situation is and she writes letters for them. We also learn a bit about that client and how tragic their past is.

I found the plot of the story very sad but very beautiful at the sametime. Though I do wish they explain who Violet's parents they were mentioned in the show but other than the whole "they are nobodies " we don't exactly go into depth about who they actually are or how did she become an orphan in the first. Heck what was her real name if she even had one. And maybe a bit more about the other characters.

Maybe in the upcoming movie they might cover this.

But that is my only complaint.

The dub of the series was really good all of the voice actors fitted perfectly all though I do think that Kyle McCarley sounded a bit too young for Claudia and maybe they overused Lucien Dodge but that was the only issue.

The animation by Kyota was beautiful.

I can't wait for the movie.

Better than Yo Kai Watch
12 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In days of old, people feared Yokai. The one that stood at the helbe and lead the night parade of a 100 demons was known as the supreme commander of the yokai. The had another name for him, the lord of pandemonium, nurire yurne.

Rikuo Nura appears to be an average middle school student. No one knows that he comes home every day to a house full of youkai, nor that he transforms into the all-powerful leader of these spirits at night. However, much to the disappointment of many, Rikuo is determined to live as normal a life as possible. His school friends Kiyotsugu, Jiro, Saori, Natsumi and the beautiful Kana are in a paranormal patrol club believe Yo Kai are real and they go on diffrent adventures to discovered. Then Yura Keikain a shy but beautiful girl joins the club she knows a lot more than they do.

This series is like Yokai watch but only better and being aimed at a matured audience. So as a heads up to Pokemon fanboys claiming that Yo kai watch ripoff Pokemon just remember this series existed.

The stories plot i found very fun to watch and I don't have any complaints that i can think of.

The dub by Viz was excellent although it was weird how they used separate actors for both of Rikuo's forms.

The music of the first intro and the two endings were good. Though I didn't like how the second intro was some weird k-pop rapper.

If you want to have an anime which is yokai based and is a good shoein I strongly recommend this.

I am glad these movies are finally over
11 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I will be honest, The Last Stand was not the best movie of the original X-Men trilogy, But this film seems like a bad attempt at remaking that movie.

The acting is pretty mediocre, Sophie Turner was very out of place as Jean in this movie. The plot just seems like nothing is there other than a movie which I have already seen. In fact it doesn't even make to have this movie at all timeline wise.

Don't even get me started on the SJW writing they used in this especially that sexist term Jennifer Lawrence said. Also, why did they change the schools name to "Jean Grey's school of the gifted" she didn't do anything to deserve it.

Overall this was a very bad film and a terrible ending to a trilogy.

Not as good as the first one
1 January 2020
Plot

When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen and Claire mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.

All though I admit this film wasn't as great as lets just say the first film. It still had it's decent amount of moments. Plus I thought the acting and camera angle was good. But the CGI was not that great at all.

Though lets hope the next one is better.

Steins;Gate 0 (2018– )

Time travel definitely makes verb tense very confusing
31 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Even though this series was not as good as the original series however, I still had fun watching this and heck it was one hell of a ride revisiting this universe ever since I wrote my review for Steins:Gate exactly one year ago.

Just like with my Steins Gate review there will be spoilers so I recommend you watch the series first before you continue reading.

After the events of Steins:Gate a younger girl from the future known as Kagari Shinna goes missing in the past for 12 years in search after she left with her bigger sister figure sister Suzuha. During those 12 years she had suffered a lot as well as being brainwashed to having no memory of who she was and who were her parents. Meanwhile, our favorite crazy scientist protagonist Okabe who is now student at University meets a young scientist who is often mistaken for a young child Maho has developed a phone app called Amadus which has all of Kurishu's memories before she passed away and the individual looks exactly like her. Suzuha is still looking for a way to get back to her time. He meets Professor Lesconain who from the outside seems like a good lecture who would treat his students with respect but he has a hidden side to him that isn't your typical teacher.

Just like the other series it can be very tedious and even confusing to keep up with what is happening but you get used to it.

Plus it was nice seeing my favourite characters again as well as hearing the actors voice them again with some new cast members for the new characters. Even though some of them were involved in a movement which i am disappointed with.

I found this a good sequel series overall even if it is not as good as the original series.

Magical Sempai
30 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There is not really much plot to this anime other than some random unnamed student enrolls into a school and he needs to find a club. So he decides to go with this magic club which is ran by this clumsy and cry baby but surprisingly attractive girl. This girl claims to be an expert at magic but everyone of her episodes she either ends up falling or feeling nervous in front of an audience.

Each episode is 11-12 minutes long and they are all available on cruntychyroll.

Well i usually don't watch these types of animes but i fancied something different so i watched it and i thought it was good and funny.

Disney will you ever learn?
27 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Before I begin my rant just a small reminder for those who are watch the movies in chronological order this is the ninth movie and it takes place after The Last Jedi.

There maybe a lot of spoilers in this review.

I gotta agree with the top review that Star Wars has always been about good storytelling and here it does not feel like any of it exists. First off I admit I was looking forward to the emperor's return. But here is a question: How the hell does he survive his battle with Anakin and Luke after they killed him in episode 6? Why even include him if you are not going to explain this?

As for the good i admit they finally knew how a lightsaber works, the choreography was pretty decent and the effects were good. Also I am glad they only gave Rose a cameo because you have no idea how much of a terrible character she was.

Now for the bad the story makes absolutely no sense at all like Rey's training and these weird force responses with kylo renn she had been having .Other things such as apparently snoke was created by the Emperor and some how had these clones which make no sense at all. Snoke was supposed to be the main villain in this trilogy but they decided to do damage control at the last minute and bring him back (facepalm). Majority of this movie is filled with nothing but scenes that make me cringe or made zero sense to the Star Wars canon. I admit it was nice seeing Poe, Rey and Finn work together but that still does not make me care any less about them as characters. Plus I just can't believe that apparently Rey is the Emperors daughter. (Wait the he had kids???) I guess it is a primary example of what happens when you cram two-four movies into one movie. It makes zero sense. Heck the original cast had zero screen time.

Here is the thing Disney if can't make good Star Wars movies and if you can't be asked to listen to fans but instead go by your twist agenda then here is what you should do sell the franchise and get rid of Killer Kenedy. Heck, i had more enjoyment watching that one single 22 minute episode of Steins; Gate 0 (review coming soon) over this 2 hours trash.

Overall this is yet another make believe movie by Disney that ripoff more ideas of the original trilogy. I have been a huge fan of Star Wars for the last 3 year I may have not grew up with originals or the prequels but I still watched them and they are the true star wars to me not this movie. Even my dad fell asleep in the cinema.

Look I have said it before and I will say this again if you enjoy this movie or are going to watch it more power to you. But me personally I would stick by the original trilogy, the prequels, both clone wars cartoons and rebels. And if you want to check out something Disney Star Wars related Rouge One is the way to go and even though not many people would agree with me but Solo is pretty good as well.

The sequel trilogy is nothing but garbage and something which shouldn't have existed and if you want to read my reviews for my other Star Wars related movies they are all on my profile.

I might be here all day ranting about this movie but I am going to stop now.

Have a good day everyone and may the force be with you.

I prefer the other version
26 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Though I actually thought After the two death of superman movies that DC would finally realise their mistakes in their New52 animated movies. This one isn't bad by any means but it is very mediocre.

The movie is pretty much her origin but this time she disobeys her mom, she lives at a house with Julia and her cute daughter Vanessa who became less cute as the movie went on. Venessa gets jealous she goth and becomes the villain.

I just found this movie boring to be honest, I was looking forward to having another solo wonder woman movie only to get less of an impact.

I don't love or hate this movie I just don't care for it.
